Clovis station

The Clovis Central Fire Station at 320 Mitchell St. in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico is an Early Commercial-style building that was built in 1929 and reflected confidence in the city's prospects at the beginning of the Great Depression. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.It has also been known as the Clovis City Hall and Fire Station. In these functions it replaced the 1908 Clovis City Hall and Fire Station (which is also listed on the National Register). It is on the same block as the City Hall and Municipal Court building.It is a two-story building with a truncated hipped roof and is partially flat-roofed. Its walls include blonde brick laid in running bond and light gray/tan concrete details.

The Lyceum Theater of Clovis, New Mexico, located at 409 Main St., was built during 1919–20. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.It is a two-story concrete building with a vaulted roof which is hidden from street view by a stepped parapet. It has a 120-seat balcony. It was designed by the Boller Brothers architectural firm with elements of Mission Revival style. Its facade was altered in the 1940s to add "a modicum of modernistic details" and to add "neon on a wall-mounted sign above the marquee".It is categorized in the NRHP nomination as having Moderne style.

The First Methodist Church of Clovis is a historic church building at 622 Main Street in Clovis, New Mexico. It was built in 1929 in a Classical Revival style and was added to the National Register in 1987.Prior to 1930, it was originally known as Faith Christian Fellowship, and was constructed by church members at cost of $100,000.

The State Theater is an art deco-style theater in Clovis, New Mexico, which opened in 1936. It is still in use, although today it presents live musical acts rather than movies. It is one of three historic movie theaters in Clovis. The centerpiece of the marquee is a tall, vertical, cylindrical glass brick column.In 2007 the theater, at 504 Main Street, was added to both the State and National Register of Historic Places listings in New Mexico (SR#1899, NRHP # 355920). It is one of two historic movie theaters in Clovis that are on the NRHP, the other being the Lyceum Theater at 409 Main Street. The nomination of the theater as part of the Clovis Railroad and Commercial Historic District includes the description of the State Theater by historian David Kammer as “the most richly detailed example of a modernistic style theater façade in New Mexico.”

The 1908 Clovis City Hall and Fire Station at 308 Pile St. in Clovis in Curry County, New Mexico was the first city hall and fire station in the city; it served in that role from 1908 until 1929, and later served as an auto repair shop then as a hotel. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.It is a two-story Early Commercial-style brick building.

The Curry County Courthouse in Clovis, New Mexico is a three-and-a-half-story Art Deco-style courthouse which was built in 1936. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.It was designed by architect Robert E. Merrell of Schaefer & Merrell architectural firm. It was expanded in 1954 with a two-story addition, also designed by Robert E. Merrell, over the site of the preceding 1910 courthouse.Merrell also designed the NRHP-listed Hotel Clovis, at 210 Main St. in Clovis, and the NRHP-listed Roosevelt County Courthouse at 100 W. 2nd St. in Portales, New Mexico.

The Hotel Clovis is a ten-story former hotel in Clovis, New Mexico, United States. Designed by architect Robert Merrell, the Art Deco structure was opened as a hotel on October 20, 1931. Hotel Clovis was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.Although the hotel closed in 1983, Developer Stephen Crozier launched an extensive renovation, announcing that he would build 31 loft-style apartments in the Art Deco building, as well as creating some 8,000 square feet of commercial space. The developer also wanted to build two separate structures that will house an additional 59 units. Groundbreaking started September 30, 2011 and the construction project became the Hotel Clovis Lofts. Hotel Clovis Lofts is now (as of January 2020) occupied.Though first touted as "upper-income assisted living" the apartments are HUD assisted and lower income housing. As of mid-2017, the street-level commercial spaces remain unoccupied and have not been architecturally finished. Developer Steven Crozier has continued building additional apartments two blocks west of the Hotel Clovis encompassing a full city block.

On August 28, 2017, a mass shooting occurred at the Clovis-Carver Library, a public library in downtown Clovis, New Mexico, U.S. The gunman fatally shot two people and injured four others. He was identified as Nathaniel Jouett, a 16-year-old student at nearby Clovis High School.

The Old Clovis Post Office at 4th and Mitchell Sts. in Clovis, New Mexico is a former post office built in 1931. It includes elements of Classical Revival and Mission/Spanish Revival architecture. It has also served as the Clovis-Carver Public Library.It is a two-story building with a hipped and flat roof, built on an ashlar sandstone basement. It has various tan shades of brick in its walls and its roof is light-brown and orange tile.The building is significant as a public works project during the Great Depression.It was built in the same year as the Hotel Clovis, which is also NRHP-listed.

The Clovis Baptist Hospital, located at 515 Prince St. in Clovis in Curry County, New Mexico, was built in 1919–1920. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is a two-story stuccoed building with a hipped roof. It has a projecting entry portico with square stuccoed columns. It was built as the result of a drive by Clovis-area Baptists, including of the First Baptist Church, Clovis, to create the first hospital in the area. It was described at its opening on October 7, 1920 as "'the only city of refuge on the high plains of eastern New Mexico.'"It was operated as a hospital for 19 years until 1939, when a larger hospital was opened. The building then was re-used as the Ramsey Hotel. In 1981 it was in use as a restaurant and art gallery, "The Landmark".

Clovis is a city in and the county seat of Curry County, New Mexico. The city had a population of 37,775 as of the 2010 census, and a 2020 census population of 38,567. Clovis is located in the New Mexico portion of the Llano Estacado, in the eastern part of the state. A largely agricultural community, closely bordering Texas, it is noted for its role in early rock music history and for nearby Cannon Air Force Base. After the discovery of several "Clovis culture" sites in eastern North America in the 1930s, the Clovis people came to be regarded as the first human inhabitants who created a widespread culture in the New World. Clovis people are considered to be the ancestors of most of the indigenous cultures of the Americas. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway system helped establish Clovis over one hundred years ago, which continues to be a major hub of operations for that railroad and its successor, BNSF Railway. Also notable is the Southwest Cheese Company, the largest cheddar cheese producer in North America. It is the principal city of the Clovis Micropolitan statistical area, which is part of the larger Clovis-Portales CSA.

The Lincoln Jackson School, at 206 Alphon St. in Clovis, New Mexico, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. It is a one-story L-shaped complex of International Style buildings built during 1952 to 1965. The buildings replaced the prior buildings which had served African-American students only, during Clovis County's racial segregation of education, which did not end until 1954. The complex served as an elementary school for predominantly African American students from 1954 to 1965. The school was known originally as the Colored School.
