Brushes Reservoir is the second lowest reservoir of a series of four in the Brushes valley above Stalybridge in Greater Manchester, England. It was built in the 19th century to provide a supply of safe drinking water. It is owned and operated by United Utilities. The reservoir dam consists of a clay core within an earth embankment.

Walkerwood Reservoir is a reservoir in the Brushes valley above Stalybridge in Greater Manchester, built in the 19th century to provide a supply of safe drinking water. It is owned and operated by United Utilities. The revetment was increasing vulnerable to wave action so has been strengthened by filling existing holes in the concrete with lean sand asphalt (LSA) and overlaying with open stone asphalt (OSA).

It was built in the 19th century to provide a supply of safe drinking water. Though the reservoir and its watershed are totally in Greater Manchester it is within a mile of the Derbyshire border. It is owned and operated by United Utilities. The reservoir dam consists of a clay core within an earth embankment. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs across the dam on the south side of the reservoir.

Buckton Castle was a medieval enclosure castle near Carrbrook in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, England. It was surrounded by a 2.8-metre-wide (9 ft) stone curtain wall and a ditch 10 metres (33 ft) wide by 6 metres (20 ft) deep. Buckton is one of the earliest stone castles in North West England and only survives as buried remains overgrown with heather and peat. It was most likely built and demolished in the 12th century. The earliest surviving record of the site dates from 1360, by which time it was lying derelict. The few finds retrieved during archaeological investigations indicate that Buckton Castle may not have been completed. In the 16th century, the site may have been used as a beacon for the Pilgrimage of Grace. During the 18th century, the castle was of interest to treasure hunters following rumours that gold and silver had been discovered at Buckton. The site was used as an anti-aircraft decoy site during the Second World War. Between 1996 and 2010, Buckton Castle was investigated by archaeologists as part of the Tameside Archaeology Survey, first by the University of Manchester Archaeological Unit then the University of Salford's Centre for Applied Archaeology. The project involved community archaeology, and more than 60 volunteers took part. The castle, close to the Buckton Vale Quarry, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Wild Bank is a hill in Stalybridge, just outside the Peak District National Park. Its western flank rises from the valley of the River Tame to a height of 399 metres. To the east of the summit, the ground falls away more gradually to Shaw Moor and Hollingworthhall Moor, beyond which are Mottram in Longdendale and Hollingworth. Since 2004, the moorland in the area of the pike has been classed as access land. From the summit the centre of Manchester, Winter Hill and the Cheshire Plain can be seen. On very clear days the mountains of Snowdonia are visible.

Carrbrook is a village east of Stalybridge, in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, England. The area still has many seventeenth and eighteenth-century buildings. Much of the late-nineteenth and the early-twentieth-century village was built during the industrial boom brought by the printworks. In the 1970s modern Housing estates were built next to the old village on the lower flank of Harridge Pike. The view to the east of Carrbrook is dominated by the steep-sided Buckton Hill, on the summit of which is located Buckton Castle. Neighbouring communities include Millbrook, Heyheads and Mossley. Many properties in Carrbrook were threatened by a large wildfire burning on Buckton Moor in late June 2018. The fires burned for several weeks and the damage caused is still visible to this day. On 26 June 2018, 50 properties in Carrbrook were evacuated as the fire advanced towards the settlement. Carrbrook is now part of a high fire risk zone. On the 27th December 2023 at approx. 23:10 GMT, a tornado hit the village during Storm Gerrit - the strongest in the UK since 2006. Heavy damage was done to some structures, however no deaths were recorded.

The Stamford Arms is a Grade II listed public house on Huddersfield Road in Carrbrook, a village east of Stalybridge in Tameside, Greater Manchester, England. Built in the mid-18th century and extended in the 19th century, it is shown as the Stamford Arms pub on the 1875 and 1935 Ordnance Survey maps. As of 2026, its freehold is owned by Thwaites Brewery.

Heyheads is the easternmost area of Stalybridge, in Greater Manchester, England. The area includes the sixteenth century Grade II listed Nos 1, 2 and 3 Moorgate Farmhouse and adjoining barn and shippon buildings. Boundary cottages mark the boundary between Stalybridge and Mossley and the historic boundary between Cheshire and Lancashire. Modern Housing was built on Huddersfield Road in the 1970. With a further estate built close to Moorgate in the 1990s. The view to the south is dominated by the steep-sided Buckton Hill, on the summit of which is located Buckton Castle. Stamford Golf Club has an 18-hole course to the North of Huddersfield Road. The club was incorporated on Saturday 24 August 1901 and like the only pub in Heyheads, The Stamford Arms, was named after the local Landowner the Earl of Stamford.

Millbrook is a village near Stalybridge, northwest England. It is part of the Stalybridge South ward of Tameside metropolitan borough. It also played a huge part of the industrial revolution, as the name suggests, several cotton mills once existed, in and around the village, Bottomleys mill was in one of the first ever steam driven mills. Millbrook suffered from the Storm Angus, 21 Nov 2016 when 3 inches (7.6 cm) of rain fell on Tameside in five hours.
