The Rubin Museum of Art, also known as the Rubin Museum is a museum dedicated to the collection, display, and preservation of the art and cultures of the Himalayas, the Indian subcontinent, Central Asia and other regions within Eurasia, with a permanent collection focused particularly on Tibetan art. It is located at 150 West 17th Street between the Avenue of the Americas (Sixth Avenue) and Seventh Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.

The Peter McManus Café is among the oldest family-owned and operated bars in New York City. It opened in 1936 and is located at 152 Seventh Avenue on the corner of West 19th Street in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The bar has been Zagat-rated and written about in numerous articles, and appeared in the book The Hundred Best Bars in NYC with a high rating. The bar has also received several awards. The current proprietor is James Justin McManus.

The United States Post Office Old Chelsea Station, originally known as "Station O", is a historic post office building located at 217 West 18th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York City. It was built in 1935, and designed by consulting architect Eric Kebbon for the Office of the Supervising Architect. The building is a seven-bay-wide two-story brick building, trimmed in limestone in the Colonial Revival style. The main entrance features a ten light transom, Doric order pilasters, and a blind stone fanlight with carved eagles. The interior features two bas relief cast stone panels of woodland animals titled "Deer" and "Bear" executed in 1938 by artist Paul Fiene.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

New York Live Arts (Live Arts) is a movement-focused arts organization in New York City that serves as the home of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. The building was formerly the home of Dance Theatre Workshop, with which the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company merged 2011 to form New York Live Arts.Its activities encompass commissioning, producing, and presenting works of dance, performance and music, together with allied education programming and services for artists. Live Arts is located in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood. Its building features a 184-seat theater, rehearsal studios and offices.

Rebar, or ReBar, is a gay bar and nightclub in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City.

Chelsea Corners was an apartment complex built in 1931 at 15th Street and 16th Street, in Chelsea, Manhattan. It is currently a co-op. The first building was completed at 200 West 16th Street in May 1931. The development was never finished, but its completion was planned for fall 1931. The Great Depression caused it to remain unfinished. The projected cost was $50,000,000. Chelsea Corners was a portion of an undertaking by Henry Mandel to rebuild 7th Avenue (Manhattan), just below 23rd Street, with a number of tall apartment buildings. The establishments are made of variegated orange brick and were designed by Farrar & Watmough, who were also responsible for the design of Mandel's London Terrace and Parc Vendome.

Winston Preparatory School is an independent private school for students with learning disabilities (such as dyslexia, ADHD, and NVLD) in grades 4-12. The organization also operates a post-secondary "Transitions" in New York City. Winston Preparatory School is chartered by the State of New York and is a member of ISAAGNY, NYSAIS, NEASC, and NAIS. The New York School is accredited by NYSAIS and NEASC. The organization also has a research and public outreach division called the Winston Innovation Lab.

The Metropolitan Pavilion is an exhibition venue located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Opened in 1992, the 45,000 sq ft (4,200 m2) venue offers four loft event spaces in one location. The Metropolitan Pavilion is situated next door to the old Altman Building, and on occasion, the two connected buildings are utilized as one extra-large event space.The Metropolitan Pavilion has been host to comic book conventions, toy shows, art exhibitions, film festivals, fashion shows, food festivals, fencing tournaments, political fundraisers, weddings, and other gala events. These events include the Big Apple Comic Con, the Pinta Art Show, the Outsider Art Fair, and the American Folk Art Museum.

The American Artists School was a progressive independent art school in New York City associated with socialism and the American Radical movement.The school was founded in April 1936 at 131 West 14th Street, upon the dissolution of the John Reed Club School of Art. Its founders and board of directors included members and former members of the John Reed Club such as William Gropper, as well as contributors to the New Masses and the Daily Worker, and notable artists such as Margaret Bourke-White and Louis Schanker. Harry Gottlieb was its first director and Henry Billings the first secretary.The school emphasized art that was not only technically excellent but also alive to the social and class realities of the day, and stressed socially relevant content. A statement from the school's brochure of 1936 reads, "The American Artists School established [as] its fundamental premise...that the student must be developed as an independent thinker at the same time he is trained to be a competent artist. We believe that America contains infinite painting material, and that the student who learns to understand and appreciate it cannot but evolve into a socially constructive artist."The school suffered from financial difficulties and closed in the spring of 1941; however, the significant role it played in integrating art and society in the thirties was recognized by both the liberal and radical press.

The Jefferson School of Social Science was an adult education institution of the Communist Party USA located in New York City. The so-called "Jeff School" was launched in 1944 as a successor to the party's New York Workers School, albeit skewed more towards community outreach and education rather than the training of party functionaries and activists, as had been the primary mission of its predecessor. Peaking in size in 1947 and 1948 with an attendance of about 5,000, the Jefferson School was embroiled in controversy during the McCarthy period including a 1954 legal battle with the Subversive Activities Control Board over the school's refusal to register as a so-called "Communist-controlled organization." With the Communist Party in membership decline and financial chaos, the Jefferson School was forced to close its doors in 1956 in the face of government pressure.
