Minisink Valley High School is a secondary school located in Slate Hill, New York. It contains an enrollment of over 1100 students. The school, part of the Minisink Valley Central School District, was established in 1958 as a secondary school for grades 7–10. A junior class established in the 1959-60 school year became the first class to graduate in June 1961. Over the next decade, enrollment in the school increased so rapidly that in 1971, a bond was passed by district residents to build a new high school adjacent to the original school building. Reginald G. Kierstead High School was completed in 1974, and provided a comfortable home for the upperclassmen of the district. Additions were made in the years following 9/11 to accompany the expanding class sizes due to suburbanization. Both high school and middle school buildings have seen recent addition to the response of larger class sizes, along with the completion of new pool and track facilities.

South Centerville is a hamlet in the town of Wawayanda, Orange County, in the U.S. state of New York.

The Dunning House is located on Ridgebury Road in the Town of Wawayanda, New York, United States. It is a wooden house first built in the mid-18th century and extensively renovated several times in the 19th. As a result, it embodies a number of different architectural styles. A modest two-room clapboard house first built around 1750, a then-common design with a few extant examples in the region, it was later expanded in the early 19th century in a Federal style center-hall plan. The hallway still features a segmented Federal archway with its keystone supported by a pair of reeded pilasters. The hand-hewn beams, doors, trim and wall finishes are also original to that period and style.Later renovations added interior rooms with Greek Revival features such as architraves, moldings, cornices and medallions. In the Victorian era, a Stick style porch with chamfered posts and an intricate cornice molding was built on the front and an oriel window on the southwest side. Late in the 19th century, a central front gable was added with an arch top window.The renovations and additions over the course of the 19th century have produced a modern house of two and a half stories with five bays. It is located on a 1.1-acre (4,400 m2) parcel, overlooking the Slate Hill area, with one other building, a modern greenhouse not considered a contributing property. In 2001, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places due to its relatively intact preservation of its stylistically different architectural features. It is currently up for sale, with an asking price of $800,000.

Woodlawn Farm, sometimes known as the Wood Homestead, is located on Mount Orange Road, a short distance north of Slate Hill, New York, United States. It is centered by a three-section farmhouse whose materials date to the mid-18th century, making it one of the oldest buildings in the Town of Wawayanda. In 2008 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has undergone extensive renovation and reconstruction since its original construction, some incorporating elements of architectural styles of the later 19th century. Its residents, many of whom lived in the house for years, have primarily been from two different families, including the descendants of the original builder. Many have also been active in local affairs and served in political office. Woodlawn Farm has thus played an important role in the history of Slate Hill.

The Hulet Clark Farmstead is located along South Plank Road north of the hamlet of Westtown, in the Town of Minisink, New York, United States. It is a 75-acre (30 ha) property along both sides of the road, consisting of a farmhouse, barn, chicken coop and other outbuildings. While he did not build the house, Clark, a longtime Minisink resident who served the town in several different capacities in the first half of the 19th century, would be most associated with it.

Ridgebury is one of the eight hamlets in the town of Wawayanda, New York, United States. The hamlet and its township are located in Orange County, approximately 65 miles north of New York City. The community's name originally was spelled "Ridgeberry", so named for the berries which grew on the ridge upon which the town site is located.In the spring of 2008, the area's natural bodies of water, including Catlin Creek and Ridgebury Lake, were infested with groups of Northern snakehead, a highly predatory fish that has recently been found unintentionally spreading around the United States. In Ridgebury, the snakeheads have been removed with poisoning by the DEC, and all water has been restocked with native species.

Wawayanda is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 7,534 as recorded by the 2020 census. The town of Wawayanda is in the western part of the county, south of Middletown.

Greenville is a town in Orange County, New York, United States, located along the southern county and state line. The population was 4,689 at the 2020 census. Unique among Orange County towns, Greenville has neither cities nor villages, and most of the communities are small clusters of houses. (Residents of the town get their mail through the Port Jervis or Middletown post office.) Greenville is near Exit 4 off Interstate 84, which features the town's firehouse and a few other businesses.

Pine Island is a hamlet in the town of Warwick in Orange County, New York, United States. It is the largest community in the Black Dirt Region, which is famous for its "black dirt onions." It gets its name from its slight elevation over the surrounding land. In the days before the nearby Wallkill River was rerouted to control flooding, it would often be an actual island for a period in the spring.
