Bronx Park East station

Little Yemen is an ethnic enclave located in the eastern half of Bronx, New York in Morris Park. It is wedged in-between Van Nest and Pelham Parkway. The heart of the neighborhood is located on White Plains Road at Rhinelander Avenue. The Yemeni American Community started growing in large numbers after the war started in Yemen in 2014. Yahay Obeid, Outreach Liaison for the Bronx Muslim Center worked with Google and a journalist to change the name of the area to Little Yemen. There are over 500 Yemeni owned businesses within a one mile radius of Little Yemen, most are Deli and Groceries. Previously, the area was mostly Italian and Latino. The Yemeni American Day Parade has been held annually in Little Yemen since 2019. The first Yemeni American Day Parade drew over 3,000 people, including visitors from numerous states. The area contains several hookah cafes, Yemeni supermarkets and Yemeni restaurants and pharmacies that surround the intersection. It is however not listed in any records as an independent neighborhood and is more of a vernacular name.

The Bronx High School for the Visual Arts (BHSVA), familiarly known as Visual Arts, is a New York City public high school established as an art school in 2002 under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Small Schools Initiative program (officially, the New Century High Schools Initiative). It is a New Visions for Public Schools institution which oversees funding for the various small schools created by the program but is served by the New York City Department of Education. The school once was housed in the Christopher Columbus Educational Campus before moving to the old Mercy College Bronx campus building in late 2004. The school is within walking distance of the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden. Since its inception in 2002, Visual Arts has hosted consecutive End of the Year art exhibitions at the Lehman College Art Gallery, highlighting the years best art by students.As of 2005, it also holds a second art exhibition at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.

Van Nest is a working-class neighborhood geographically located in the East Bronx section of the Bronx, New York City. Going clockwise, its boundaries are Bronxdale Avenue to the northeast, the Amtrak tracks to the southeast, and Bronx Park to the west. Van Nest predated Morris Park by 20 years and is considered the older of the two communities. Morris Park Avenue and White Plains Road are the primary commercial thoroughfares through Van Nest. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community Board 11, and its ZIP Codes include 10460 and 10462. The area is patrolled by the 49th Precinct of the New York City Police Department.

The Church of Our Lady of Solace is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 731 Morris Park Avenue at the intersection with Holland Avenue, the Bronx, New York City in the Van Nest neighborhood.

The Church of St. Dominic is a Roman Catholic parish church under the authority of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, located at 1739 Unionport Road, Van Nest, Bronx, New York City. The parish was established in 1927. The Romanesque Revival was built 1925 to the designs of Bronx-native architect Anthony J. DePace of the firm DePace & Juster. In May 2011, two of the three bells were removed in order to service the wooden supports which were waterlogged and had seepage problems. The goal is to replace the wooden supports and return the bells to their original location. The expected restoration cost of the bells is estimated at $30,000.

White Plains Road is a major north-south thoroughfare which runs the length of the New York City borough of the Bronx. It runs from Castle Hill and Clason Point in the south to Wakefield in the north, where it crosses the city line and becomes West 1st Street of Mount Vernon, New York. The Bronx River Parkway lies to its west and parallels much of its route. Between Magenta Street & 217th Street, White Plains Road is very wide due to the presence of the Gun Hill Road station house in the road's median. Historically, the route ran through an alignment through Mount Vernon by way of modern First Street, Lincoln Avenue (and Clinton Street), where it continued along modern North Columbus Ave. The route further continued with the current alignment Hussey Road across the Cross County Parkway, merging again with current North Columbus Avenue (modern NY 22-Columbus Avenue was known as "Central Blvd" into the 1960s between current Hussey Road and the Cross County Parkway, as the rebuilding of the parkway severed the old alignment of NY 22). These roads acquired their modern names around the end of the 19th century. Today at the Bronxville Village line, White Plains Road continues as New York State Route 22 (NY 22), to Broadway in White Plains where it terminates as Post Road.

The Bronx Zoo (also historically the Bronx Zoological Park and the Bronx Zoological Gardens) is a zoo within Bronx Park in the Bronx, New York. It is one of the largest zoos in the United States by area and is the largest metropolitan zoo in the United States by area, comprising 265 acres (107 ha) of park lands and naturalistic habitats separated by the Bronx River. On average, the zoo has 2.15 million visitors each year as of 2009. The zoo's original permanent buildings, known as Astor Court, were designed as a series of Beaux-Arts pavilions grouped around the large circular sea lion pool. The Rainey Memorial Gates were designed by sculptor Paul Manship in 1934 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.The zoo opened on November 8, 1899, featuring 843 animals in 22 exhibits. Its first director was William Temple Hornaday, who served as director for 30 years. From its inception the zoo has played a vital role in animal conservation. In 1905, the American Bison Society was created in an attempt to save the American bison from extinction, which had been depleted from tens-of-millions of animals to only a few hundred. Two years later they were successfully reintroduced into the wild. In 2007, the zoo successfully reintroduced three Chinese alligators into the wild. The breeding was a milestone in the zoo's 10-year effort to reintroduce the species to the Yangtze River in China. Today, the Bronx Zoo is world-renowned for its large and diverse animal collection, and its award-winning exhibitions. The zoo is part of an integrated system of four zoos and one aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and it is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The North Bronx is the northern section of the Bronx, one of the five boroughs of New York City. It is bordered by Westchester County to the north, the South Bronx to the south, the Hudson River to the west and the Long Island Sound to the east. The western part is more urbanized and hilly than its eastern counterpart, just like the rest of the borough. Despite being recognized as different from the South Bronx, the actual borders of the North Bronx is undefined. One commonly set border is Fordham Road/Pelham Parkway, the upper limit for widespread poverty and arson during the 1970s and 1980s. Overall, the North Bronx is better off than the South Bronx despite gentrification occurring in both. The North Bronx has the affluent cluster of neighborhoods centered around Riverdale, including the former, Fieldston, Spuyten Duyvil, Hudson Hills, and to a lesser extent, Kingsbridge. The North Bronx is home to the largest shopping district along Fordham Road, with shops as far west as University Avenue and as east as Third Avenue. Tracey Towers, the second tallest buildings in the Bronx are located here. Only the Harlem River Park Towers are taller, at 404 feet compared to 400 feet for Tracey Towers. However, the North Bronx is home to the largest housing development in Co-op City.Neighborhoods include Riverdale, Bedford Park, Fordham, Norwood, Woodlawn Heights, Wakefield, Baychester, and Co-op City.

The Pelham Parkway station is a local station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located in the Bronx at the intersection of Pelham Parkway and White Plains Road, it is served by the 2 train at all times and by the 5 train during rush hours in the peak direction.

Parkchester/Van Nest station is a planned passenger rail station on the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line, to be located within Bronx Community Board 11 in Van Nest and just north of Parkchester. The station is planned to open in 2027 as part of the Penn Station Access project, which will add four stations in The Bronx. It will be located east of Unionport Road, with entrance from East Tremont Avenue.

The Morris Park station is a station on the IRT Dyre Avenue Line of the New York City Subway served by the 5 train at all times. It is located at Paulding Avenue and the Esplanade in Morris Park, Bronx.

The East 180th Street station (originally East 180th Street–Morris Park Avenue station) is an elevated express station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of East 180th Street and Morris Park Avenue in the Bronx, it is served by the 2 and 5 trains at all times. The East 180th Street station was built by the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRT) under the Dual Contracts and opened in 1917 as part of an extension of the White Plains Road Line to East 219th Street–White Plains Road. The 180th Street station of the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway (NYW&B) is immediately adjacent to the IRT station. When the NYW&B went bankrupt in 1937, a portion of the main line was converted into the IRT Dyre Avenue Line, and the NYW&B platforms were abandoned after the Dyre Avenue Line was connected to the White Plains Road Line in 1957. The original NYW&B station house remains extant and is the station's main exit and entrance.
