Velence Hills (Hungarian: Velencei-hegység) is a low mountain range in north-western Hungary, in the Central Transdanubian region. It lies to the north of Lake Velence, some 15 km to the east of city of Székesfehérvár. The Velence Hills are part of the Transdanubian Mountains. Village of Nadap lies in the central part of the hills and is the point of departure of excursions to the countryside. The highest point, Meleg-hegy ("Hot hill") (352 m) lies above the village.

Nadap

Nadap is a village in Fejér county in central Hungary, with population of 460. Lying among low Velence Hills, it is the point of departure for sightseeing tours on the countryside. The obelisk in the vicinity, called "ancient mark of Nadap" serves as a geodetic point of reference at elevation of 173.8 m. Mihály Vörösmarty was christened in the Catholic church of Saint Rosalia in the village, and the christening basin is still preserved in the church.

Lake Velence

Lake Velence (German: Welenzer See), an endorheic basin, is the third largest natural lake in Hungary. It is a popular holiday destination among Hungarians. The lake has an area of 26 km2, one third of which is covered by the common reed. Because of the sunny climate of the area and the shallowness of the lake, it is one of the warmest lakes in Europe: its temperature in the summer may reach 26 to 28 °C.

Velence

Velence is a town in the county of Fejér, Hungary, on the shore of Lake Velence. Its name is the same in Hungarian as that of the Italian city of Venice, though they are suffixed differently: "in Velence" is Velencén, while Velencében refers to the Italian city (Magyar Angol Nagyszótár, Akadémiai Kiadó.
