Market Square Tower is a residential high rise in downtown Houston, Texas, USA. It is 502 feet (153 m) with 40 floors and 463 apartments. The building began construction in 2014 and was completed in early 2017. At the time of groundbreaking, the building was the largest residential building in downtown in number of units and floors. The building is noted for a glass bottom pool that protrudes from the side of the building near the top, known as the Sky Pool. The pool, which cantilevers about 10 feet (3.0 m) over the edge, is the highest pool in Texas.

The Gulf Hotel fire claimed 55 lives in the early-morning hours of September 7, 1943 in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States. The fire remains the worst loss of life in a fire in the city's history.

Market Square Park is a public park in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States. It is bounded by Travis, Milam, Congress and Preston streets. It has remained a geographic centerpiece of Downtown Houston since the arrival of the city's founders, John Kirby and Augustus Chapman Allen in 1836.The square was donated to the city in 1854 by Augustus Allen and used as an open air produce market. Very near Allen's Landing, the original port of Houston, the downtown business district grew around the square. Early city landmarks included the briefly used Texas Capitol and White House. In addition, several City Halls rose and fell at Market Square, each destroyed by fire.The historic square is surrounded by 19th century architecture, housing a variety of businesses, entertainment venues, nightclubs and dining establishments. Market Square is located directly between Allen's Landing and the Theater District.It is a central feature of the Main Street/Market Square Historic District, a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Points of View is an outdoor 1991 sculpture by James Surls, installed at Market Square Park in Houston, Texas, in the United States. The abstract sculpture is made of treated pine and painted steel, and measures 25 feet (7.6 m) x 8 feet (2.4 m) x 4 feet (1.2 m). It is mounted on a concrete base that measures 3 inches (7.6 cm) x 54 inches (140 cm). The work was dedicated in 1992, following Market Square Park's renovation during 1991–1992.

The Calpine Center is a 453 ft (138m) tall postmodern skyscraper in Downtown Houston, Texas. The building has 33 floors of Class A office space. The building has the world headquarters of Calpine Corporation. Hines and Prime Asset Management jointly developed the building. The Houston office of HOK designed the building, and Turner Construction acted as the general contractor. It is connected to the downtown tunnel system. Mark Russell of Studley, a real estate firm, said that the Calpine Center is more efficient than many of the tall office buildings built in Houston in the early 1980s.

Virtuoso is a 36-foot-tall, 21-ton outdoor concrete sculptural group by David Adickes. It was installed in 1983 on the outskirts of the Theater District in downtown Houston next to the Lyric Centre building. It was commissioned as a work that "paid homage to music, dance and performing arts".

Main Street Market Square Historic District is a historic district in Houston, Texas that includes the Market Square Park. It includes buildings nearby, as well as the square itself. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Kennedy Bakery, located at 813 Congress Street in Houston, Texas, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 27, 1979. The historic property in downtown Houston faces Market Square and lies within the Main Street Market Square Historic District. It is probably the "oldest Houston building existing on its original site.": 2 

The W. L. Foley Building at 214-218 Travis St. in Houston, Texas was originally built in 1860 and reconstructed after a fire in 1889. The reconstruction was designed by architect Eugene T. Heiner. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It burned a second time in 1989 and was reconstructed by artist and architect Lee Benner in 1994.

Sesquicentennial Park is an urban park in downtown Houston, Texas. Established in 1989 along the banks of Buffalo Bayou, the 22.5-acre (91,000 m2) park was established in 1986 to commemorate the 150-year anniversary of the founding of the city of Houston and of the Republic of Texas.Built in two phases, the 2.2-acre (8,900 m2) entrance to the park and a 10.4-acre (42,000 m2) site that flanks Buffalo Bayou as it flows past Wortham Theater Center and the northern section of the Houston Theater District was completed in August 1989. The 8.2-acre (33,000 m2) second phase was completed in May 1998, ending the $19 million project that took 14 years to complete. The park features "Seven Wonders", a set of seven pillars illuminated from within by Houston native Mel Chin and several sculptures titled "The Big Bubble", "Site Seeing" and "Sounds from the Past", by artist Dean Ruck, who also lives and works in Houston.

The Henry Brashear Building is a Victorian-era commercial building at 910 Prairie Avenue in downtown Houston. The building was completed in 1882 under the direction of architect, Eugene T. Heiner. It was restored in 1990 and designated as a Houston landmark in 2009.
