The Jealous Wall

Belvedere House and Gardens is a country house located approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) from Mullingar, County Westmeath in Ireland on the north-east shore of Lough Ennell. It was built in 1740 as a hunting lodge for Robert Rochfort, 1st Earl of Belvedere by architect Richard Cassels, one of Ireland's foremost Palladian architects.The house is known for its Diocletian windows and nineteenth-century terracing. When Robert Rochfort decided to use Belvedere as his principal residence, he employed French stuccatore Barthelemij Cramillion, to execute the Rococo plasterwork ceilings. The landscaped demesne has the largest folly and spite wall in the country, The Jealous Wall, built to block off the view of his estranged brother's house nearby. There is also Victorian walled garden and several hectares of forest. The house has been fully restored and the grounds attract approximately 160,000 visitors annually.

The house is known for being involved in an ordeal with Robert Rochfort's brother, George, which resulted in Robert constructing The Jealous Wall so he would not have to look at his brother's grander house.

It is located in the west of Mullingar town, the R392 regional road borders the area to the north, and the Royal Canal flows through the centre of the townland. As of the 2011 census it had a population of 7 people.

The De Profundis Stone is a recumbent stone located in the townland of Kilbride, County Westmeath, Ireland, near the town of Mullingar. The stone was possibly used to mark an ancient graveyard, as was sometimes customary in Ireland. The monument takes its name from a local tradition of stopping a funerary procession at the stone, and reciting the "De Profundis" (a colloquial name for Psalm 130 of the Old Testament). The Kilbride stone is the only known remaining example in Ireland at which this "De Profundis" tradition was performed.The stone is made from limestone, and was shaped into a "coffin-like" shape with a crude cross carved into the top. The stone is approximately 0.94m in length.

Lynn civil parish comprises 12 townlands: Ardillon, Burnellstown, Catherinestown, Clonmoyle, Corbally, Gainestown, Glendevine, Gorteen, Lynn, Tornanstown. Tullanisky and Vilanstown. The neighbouring civil parishes are: Mullingar to the north, Killucan (barony of Farbill), to the east and Enniscoffey and Moylisker to the south.A well-preserved ring fort can be seen in Lynn townland in the northwestern part of the parish, near the boundary with Mullingar parish. In the early fourteenth century, the manor of Lynn was bought from the de Pitchford family by the English-born judge Sir John de Fressingfield and his wife Alice. Sir John applied for permission to endow a chantry there.

It includes Mullingar the county town of Westmeath, as well as the eponymous townland. Mullingar parish is located about 75 kilometres (47 mi) west of Dublin on the N4 road and the N52 road which meet east of Mullingar town. It is served by Mullingar railway station on the Dublin to Sligo line. The Royal Canal also passes through the parish and the town. Lough Ennell lies to the south of Mullingar, Lough Owel to the north. Mullingar is one of 3 civil parishes in the barony of Moyashel and Magheradernon in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 22,435.6 acres (90.794 km2). Parts of the parish (Cartronganny, Clownstown, part of Plodstown and Russellstown) are in the neighbouring barony of Fartullagh.The neighbouring civil parishes are: Portnashangan (barony of Corkaree) to the north, Rathconnell to the north‑east, Killucan (barony of Farbill) to the east, Lynn (barony of Fartullagh) to the south‑east and south, Dysart and Churchtown (barony of Rathconrath) to the south‑west, Rathconrath (Rathconrath) to the west and Templeoran (barony of Moygoish) and Portloman (Corkaree) to the north‑west.
