White Rock is a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, White Rock had a population of 4,730 people.

Trinity Anglican School (TAS) is an Independent Anglican School in Far North Queensland, Australia which opened on 25 May 1983. It has three campuses set over two grounds. TAS White Rock caters for students from Kindergarten through to Year 12, and TAS Kewarra Beach serves students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In 2015, TAS White Rock opened the Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) building (S-Block) designed by Charles Wright Architects, for students in Years 7 to 12. The White Rock campus' also have the first Olympic-sized swimming pool in Cairns, completed in 2000. TAS White Rock is currently undergoing a comprehensive renovation programme of the older classrooms to bring it into line with that of the recent Science Block. The motto of the school is, Latin: Docentes Omnia Servare, transl. "teaching them to observe all things". Trinity Anglican School, in a tradition common to many schools in Britain and Commonwealth countries, has a house system that groups students across age- and academic-levels for certain co-curricular activities. Cultural, academic, and sporting activities are, in-part, channeled and encouraged through house involvement, and achievement rewarded by group recognition. The four houses of TAS and their corresponding colours are, Leichhardt – yellow / gold; Mulligan – red; Kennedy – green; and Dalrymple – blue. They are named after four prominent explorers who were active in North Queensland during European colonisation: Ludwig Leichhardt, James Venture Mulligan, Edmund Kennedy and George Elphinstone Dalrymple.

St Mary's Catholic College, (also known as St Mary's), is a Catholic co-educational secondary school in Cairns, Queensland, Australia.St Mary's is situated behind its sister school, St. Gerard Majella, with most St. Gerard's graduates attending St Mary's the following year. The school which was founded in 1986 holds annual "Tours of the College" where parents can view the facilities at the college, however an appointment can be made to have a tour at any time of the year. This school is operated by the Catholic Diocese of Cairns. In January 2014 the school opened a $450,000 fitness centre to help students pursue a career in fitness.

Portsmith is a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the 2021 census, Portsmith had a population of 314 people.

The MV North Head (formerly SS Barrenjoey) was a ferry operated by the Port Jackson & Manly Steamship Company and its successors on the Manly service from 1913 until 1985. The vessel was launched as Barrenjoey, a steamer and one of the six Binngarra-type Manly ferries which were built between 1905 and 1922. In 1951, she was converted to diesel-electric power, completely rebuilt and renamed North Head. She was removed from service in 1985 following the introduction of the Freshwater-class ferries. She spent time in Hobart as a floating restaurant and, in 2000, she was taken to Cairns where she remains grounded and in deteriorating condition. The name "Barrenjoey" was taken from the headland at the northern tip of Pittwater. "North Head" is the northern headland at the entrance to Sydney Harbour.

Woree State High School (WSHS) is a public school situated in the southern suburbs of Cairns, North Queensland, Australia. The school originally provided education from Year 8 to 12 but in 2015 began providing education to Year 7 as well and has around 750 students. It was opened in 1985. It has four sporting houses (Trojan, Gemini, Pindar & Apollo) which are named after types of sugar cane as a reminder of the history of the land.
