Sea Swift

Portsmith is a suburb of Cairns in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. In the 2021 census, Portsmith had a population of 314 people.

HMAS Cairns is a Royal Australian Navy (RAN) base located adjacent to the Trinity Inlet on the shore of Trinity Bay in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Although used regularly as a port-of-call since before World War II, a permanent RAN presence was not established until 1971, when a maintenance and support base for patrol boats was set up. The base was formally commissioned in 1971 as a minor war vessel base. The current commander of the base is Commander David Hannah, RAN. HMAS Cairns is responsible for all Australian naval activity off north-eastern Australia, and is the home base for one Armidale class patrol boat, two Cape class patrol boats and the ships of the Royal Australian Navy Hydrographic Service.

The Cairns Pop-Up Arena was a sports arena in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. The arena was the temporary host of the Cairns Taipans and the South East Melbourne Phoenix, whilst the Cairns Convention Centre underwent a redevelopment.

The Sovereign Yidindji Government or Yidindji Tribal Nation is an Aboriginal Australian micro-nation that claims to exercise Australian Aboriginal sovereignty. Led by Murrumu Walubara Yidindji, members of the Yidindji nation renounced legal ties with Australia in 2014. The land they claim lies in the state of Queensland and stretches "south of Port Douglas, through Cairns, inland across the Atherton Tablelands and 80 kilometres (50 mi) out to sea”. The chief minister is Gudju Gudju Gimuybara, while Murrumu is foreign affairs and trade minister.The Yidindji government is hoping to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the Commonwealth of Australia. It is also "reaching out to countries like Russia and Venezuela to establish diplomatic relations". The Yidindji nation has its own driver licensing system. Murrumu was charged by police in May 2015 after being caught with a license and registration plates issued by the Yidindji government and not by the Queensland government.In 2022 the micro-nation launched the 'Sovereign Yidindji Dollar', a central bank digital currency pegged to the Australian dollar and claimed to be backed by gold and silver bars.

The City of Cairns was a local government area centred on the Far North Queensland city of Cairns. Established in 1885, for most of its existence it consisted of approximately 51.5 square kilometres (19.9 sq mi) around Cairns itself, with much of the metropolitan area being located in the Shire of Mulgrave. The Shire amalgamated into the City on 22 March 1995, as did small sections of neighbouring shires. In 2008, the City amalgamated with the Shire of Douglas to become the Cairns Region.

2015 is the eighth competitive season for the Cairns based Sea Swift Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club. They played in the QRL state competition, the Intrust Super Cup. 14 clubs competed, with each club playing 23 matches (12 home and 11 away) over 25 rounds. In 2015 the Townsville Blackhawks were admitted to the competition.

2014 was the seventh competitive season for the Cairns based Sea Swift Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club. They played in the QRL state competition, the Intrust Super Cup. 13 clubs competed, with each club playing 24 matches (12 home and 12 away and 2 byes) over 26 weeks. In 2014 the Papua New Guinea Hunters were admitted to the competition and the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles reverted to their original name, the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

Barlow Park is a multi-sports facility and stadium in Parramatta Park, Cairns, Queensland, Australia. The Park is home of Cairns District Rugby League, Cairns District Rugby Union, Cairns and District Athletics Association, Australian Sports Commission Development, Oztag, the Northern Pride RLFC and formerly Cairns FC.

2013 was the sixth competitive season for the Cairns based Skill360 Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club. They competed in the QRL state competition, the Intrust Super Cup. 12 clubs competed, with each club playing 22 matches (11 home, 11 away and 2 byes) over 24 rounds. The Pride finished first and won their first Minor Premiership. Head Coach Jason Demetriou was awarded the Men of League Coach of the Year. The Pride lost both Finals games (the Major Semi-Final and the Preliminary Final) and missed out on a Grand Final appearance. At the end of the season Captain Ty Williams retired. 2018 was the eleventh competitive season for the Cairns based Sea Swift Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club. They played in the QRL state competition, the Intrust Super Cup. 14 clubs competed, with each club playing 23 matches (12 home and 11 away) over 25 rounds.

2024 is the seventeenth competitive season for the Cairns based Kenfrost Homes Northern Pride Rugby League Football Club. They are one of 15 clubs that compete in Queensland's top rugby league competition, QRL's Hostplus Cup. The Northern Pride will play 10 home games and 10 away games over 23 rounds between March and August. Eric Smith was appointed as coach, replacing Ty Williams.The Townsville Blackhawks ended their feeder club arrangement with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, signing a two-year affiliation with South Sydney Rabbitohs instead. This means the Cowboys' allocation is divided between two teams (the Northern Pride and Mackay Cutters), rather than three, and so the 2024 season should see more Cowboys playing for the Northern Pride than last year.
