Frederikssund Kommune (Danish pronunciation: [fʁeðʁekˈsɔnˀ kʰoˈmuːnə]) is a municipality (Danish: kommune) on the shores of Roskilde Fjord in the northern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. On 1 January 2007, the municipality was enlarged to include the old Jægerspris, Slangerup, and Skibby municipalities. It now covers an area of 250 km² and has a population of 46,117 (1. January 2023). As of 1 January 2014 its mayor is John Schmidt Andersen, a member of the agrarian liberal Venstre political party. Frederikssund municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden (Capital Region). The seat of its municipal council is the town of Frederikssund with a population of 15,283 (1 January 2009). The town is connected to the Hornsherred peninsula by the Kronprins Frederik bridge. The former municipalities of Jægerspris and Skibby are located on this peninsula.

J.F. Willumsens Museum is in Frederikssund, Denmark. The art museum is operated by Frederikssund Municipality. The art museum is dedicated to the works of the artist Jens Ferdinand Willumsen (1863–1958) and was opened in 1957. Jens Ferdinand Willumsen was a Danish painter, sculptor, graphic artist, architect and photographer who became associated with the movements of Symbolism and Expressionism. The museum contains a wide range of Willumsen's artworks, including paintings, sketches, graphics, ceramics, sculptures, photographs and architecture.The museum was designed by the architect Tyge Hvass, and a new wing was opened in 2005, based upon designs by architect Theo Bjerg (1936-2019). The head of the museum from 1973-1990 and 1993-2006 was art historian mag. art. Leila Krogh (born 1943).

Græse Bakkeby is a satellite town of Frederikssund in North Zealand. It is located 3 km north of Frederikssund, in the Capital Region of Denmark.

The Skuldelev ships are five original Viking ships recovered from the waterway of Peberrenden at Skuldelev, c. 20 km (12 mi) north of Roskilde in Denmark. In 1962, the remains of the submerged ships were excavated in the course of four months. The recovered pieces constitute five types of Viking ships and have all been dated to the 11th century. They are thought to have been an early form of blockship, i.e. ships that were scuttled to block potential invasions from the sea. The numbering of the ships is slightly confusing as when the remains were unearthed, they were thought to comprise six ships, but after "Skuldelev 2" and "Skuldelev 4" were later discovered to be parts of one ship, it was decided not to renumber the other vessels.Together, the five Skuldelev ships provide a good source of information about the shipbuilding traditions of the late Viking Age and are now exhibited at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. The museum has built accurate reconstructions of all five of the original Skuldelev ships; some of them have also been reconstructed by other groups across the world.

Hornsherred (Danish pronunciation: [ˈhoɐ̯ˀnsˌhɛɐ̯ð̩]) is a peninsula between Roskilde Fjord and Isefjord on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. It falls within the expanded Frederikssund municipality and includes Jægerspris and Skibby and before 1 January 2007 a part of Bramsnæs Municipality, now a part of Lejre Municipality. It is connected to Frederikssund by the Kronprins Frederik bridge which was built in 1935. The area is increasingly popular as a venue for tourists with facilities for walking, cycling and sailing.

Jægerspris is a town, with a population of 4,083 (1 January 2023), in eastern Denmark. It is situated in Region Hovedstaden, 6 km northwest of Frederikssund, on the northern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland). The town was established ca. 1870 around Jægerspris Castle, which is surrounded by kilometres of hiking and biking trails in the Jægerspris forest. It was the municipal seat of the former Jægerspris Municipality (Danish, Kommune), until 1 January 2007.
