Herlev station

Herlev Kommune is a suburban municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 12 km², and has a total population of 29,215 (1. January 2023). Its mayor is Thomas Gyldal Petersen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The former village Herlev is the largest settlement of the municipal and the site of the municipal council. Neighboring municipalities are Gladsaxe to the east and northeast, Furesø Municipality to the north, Ballerup to the west, Glostrup to the southwest, Rødovre to the south, and Copenhagen to the southeast. Herlev municipality was not merged with other municipalities on 1 January 2007 as part of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007).

Herlev Hospital (former Danish: Amtssygehuset i Herlev) is a hospital in Herlev, Denmark, close to Copenhagen. The building is 120 metres (390 ft) tall and has 25 floors. It was famous for being Denmark's tallest building, but was surpassed in 2022 by Light House in Aarhus. Its modern, functional architecture in bright concrete, glass and bronze-colored aluminum gives a unique impression. The building was designed by Gehrdt Bornebusch in collaboration with Max Brüel and Jørgen Selchau. Sven Hansen was the landscape architect while the artistic decoration was done by Poul Gernes. Its construction began in 1965 and the hospital was finished in 1975. It was opened in 1976. The hospital has 1,616 beds (of 2010) and employs about 4,000 people and tends to 82,000 patients annually. The hospital is a teaching hospital for medical students from Copenhagen University. The former title Amtssygehuset i Herlev was changed when the Danish Municipal Reform of January 1, 2007 abolished the amter and replaced them with five administrative regions. In 1987 the hospital was involved in the case of the hospital bombings (Danish: Sygehusbomberne) where an undetonated pipe bomb was found in the hospital.

Islev is a suburb, located approximately 10 km west of central Copenhagen, Denmark. The suburb consists of single-family detached houses and a commercial area. The suburb is connected to Copenhagen by the S-train. Islev Station is located just east of the border between Islev and Vanløse, just outside Islev itself.

National Innovative Centre (Danish: Statens Pædagogiske Forsøgscenter) was a state school located in Islev, Denmark. The school was established in 1964 by Danish education minister K. Helveg Petersen to develop teaching innovations, and share the results of their work with schools across Denmark. The school had to close in 2007 due to political conflicts. The students were representative selected to reflect a common school class.

Mørkhøj is a suburb 10 km northwest of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Mørkhøj is part of Gladsaxe Municipality. The area is mixed with single-family homes and public housing and light industry. The popular Danish children's TV-show Bamses billedbog was recorded in the Gyngemosen area of Mørkhøj, at the time a forest area, which has since been turned in to an apartment complex. The chimney of the main character Bamses house can be found in the kindergarten Børnehuset Solstrålen, which previously also had the door to the house, which has since been vandalised, and later stolen. Mørkhøj has two primary schools, Enghavegård skole, and Mørkhøj skole, as well as a teacher's college, called Blaagaard Seminarium

Husum station is a station on the Frederikssund radial of the S-train network in Copenhagen, Denmark. It serves the area around the former village Husum, and is also the S-train station that is easiest to reach by bus from Mørkhøj in Gladsaxe and parts of northern Rødovre municipality.

Herlev is a suburb about 11 km northwest of Copenhagen city centre, bordering Rødovre to the south, Ballerup to the west and Gladsaxe to the north. It is the site of the municipal council of Herlev Municipality, Denmark.

Herlev Idrætsforening – Fodbold is a Danish football club located in the northwestern Copenhagen suburb, Herlev. The club's senior team participates in the Denmark Series and is member of the local association DBU Zealand under the Danish Football Association (DBU). Their home ground is Herlev Stadium. The football team functions as a subdivision of the multi-sports club Herlev Idrætsforening (HI), since 1949 HI has been an umbrella organisation for almost all sports clubs in Herlev Municipality. The sports club has over 600 members.

The 2010 Copenhagen terror plot was a terrorist plot against Jyllands-Posten, the publisher of the controversial cartoons of Muhammad in 2005.

Nørre Gymnasium is one of Copenhagen’s largest gymnasiums offering both Danish instruction as well as the International Baccalaureate curriculum. It was founded in 1818 by Caroline Wroblewsky as a school for young girls, and since 1972 it has been located in Husum, Denmark.

Husum is a predominantly residential neighbourhood in the Brønshøj-Husum district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Located approximately 7 km to the northwest of the city centre, between Vestvolden and Utterslev Mose, it is centred on Frederikssundsvej and Husum Torv. The area to the north of Frederikssundsvej is dominated by Housing estates while the area to the south of the street consists mainly of single-family detached home and terraced houses.
