Cheyenne High School (Cheyenne, Wyoming)

Storey Gymnasium, also known as Cheyenne High School Gymnasium, was built in 1950 on the campus of Central High School in Cheyenne, Wyoming, United States. The brick gymnasium was designed by Cheyenne architect Frederic Hutchinson Porter to include additional functions associated with the school's ROTC program, with an armory, rifle range and drill halls in addition to classrooms, shops and music spaces. The contractor was Loren Hancock, who built it at a cost of $646,611.66. It was named for William Storey, a member of the school Board of Trustees. When East High School was built in 1965 the facility was shared between East and Central.The two-story brick building measures about 240 feet (73 m) by 180 feet (55 m). It features plain surfaces and uninterrupted horizontal lines without ornamentation beyond horizontal brick features in the upper portion. The center section houses a gymnasium illuminated by glass block windows set in a clerestory. It seated 4,500 for basketball when it first opened and is still in use for sporting events, circuses, graduation ceremonies, and other special events. Storey Gymnasium was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 22, 2005.In September of 2016, the gymnasium seating was replaced with all black seats.

The Wyoming State Library is the official state library agency of Wyoming located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is a department under Wyoming's Department of Administration & Information. The State Librarian as of 2020 is Jamie Markus.The State Library maintains a Telework Lab for state employees. They also maintain the WYLD network of member libraries within the state which allows resource sharing. They sponsor an annual Wyoming Letters About Literature contest for Wyoming students in grades 4-12.

The Wyoming State Capitol is the state capitol and seat of government of the U.S. state of Wyoming. Built between 1886 and 1890, the capitol is located in Cheyenne and contains the chambers of the Wyoming State Legislature as well as the office of the Governor of Wyoming. It was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1987. The Capitol underwent an extensive three-year renovation and reopened to the public on July 10, 2019.

Like other upper houses of state and territorial legislatures and the federal U.S. Senate, the Wyoming Senate can confirm or reject gubernatorial appointments to the state cabinet, commissions, boards, or justices to the Wyoming Supreme Court.

Cheyenne is situated on Crow Creek and Dry Creek.

The Wyoming State Museum is a state-run museum established in 1895 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is the official state repository for material concerning Wyoming history and cultural heritage.Permanent exhibit themes include coal, flora and fauna, fossils, Wyoming settlement, Native American culture and history, the National Park Service in Wyoming, and other Wyoming-related issues. The museum also hosts a variety of temporary exhibits and provides traveling exhibits to cultural institutions in Wyoming and surrounding states.

The Lakeview Historic District is a residential historic district in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The neighborhood was one of Cheyenne's original neighborhoods when the city was platted in 1870; most of the homes in the district were built between 1880 and 1930. Most of the neighborhood's residents were working-class, and many of them worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Before 1900, most homes built in the district had simple Italianate, Queen Anne, or vernacular designs. American Foursquare and bungalow houses became popular in the 20th century as those styles gained prominence nationally.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 5, 1996. It includes the Moreton Frewen House, which is separately listed on the National Register.

The Charles L. Beatty House, also known as the Kendrick Building, on Capitol Avenue in Cheyenne, Wyoming, was built in 1916. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.It is an American Foursquare house designed by architect William Robert Dubois. The listing included two contributing buildings.It is located across from the Wyoming State Capitol. The building was the home of the Wyoming Arts Council for two decades, until January 2015, when WAC moved to the Barrett Building, co-locating with the Wyoming State Museum.

The Mt. Sinai Synagogue in Cheyenne, Wyoming was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. Its original building was begun in 1915, and was the first permanent Jewish house of worship in the state of Wyoming.The synagogue was founded by Eastern European and German Jews, with the assistance of the Homestead Acts and the Jewish Agricultural Society. The synagogue moved in 1951 to its current location.

The Moreton Frewen House, at 506 E. 23rd St. in Cheyenne, Wyoming, also known as the Everett V. Hall House, was built in 1881. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.It is significant for its association with stockman Moreton Frewen, and also as a well-preserved historic house.
