McLean is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Tompkins County, New York, United States. The community is 6.6 miles (10.6 km) west-southwest of Cortland. McLean has a post office with ZIP code 13102, which opened on June 30, 1826.

McLean Bogs is a National Natural Landmark containing two small kettle bogs located in Dryden, New York. It was donated to Cornell University by Curtis G. Lloyd in the 1930s, and an 81-acre (33 ha) site containing the bogs and surrounding woodlands was declared a National Natural Landmark in May 1983.The site contains two bogs; one acidic and one alkaline. One bog is approximately 70 metres (230 ft) wide with a peat depth of eight metres (26 ft) and contains several species of sphagnum moss. There are over 66 species of lichens in the bog, primarily corticolous and lignicolous types. Cornell Botanic Gardens manages the site and restricts public access. One of the key research areas in the bog is to better understand how different types of microbial species creates methane gas in peat bogs.

It was designed with open grid flooring in stack rooms to facilitate air circulation and two reading rooms. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.The library was founded by Jennie McGraw. It opened in an existing building on South and Main Streets on September 25, 1884 and later in a building constructed for the library in 1894. McGraw was the granddaughter of John Southworth of Dryden, who became a millionaire working as a farmer. She used money to create a memorial to her mother and grandfather by establishing a $30,000 trust fund to build and maintain a library in Dryden. On April 22, 1883, the Southworth Library Association was incorporated.
