Shapre-Monte House

The Old Girard High School was a historic building in Phenix City, Alabama. It was built in 1909 on the site of Girard's first school dating from 1867. At first it housed only an elementary school, but expanded in 1923 to include a high school. The school closed in 1970 and was merged into Central High School. The building was a two-story Neoclassical structure built of brick. The façade had a central, gabled three-bay projection with entrances on each side. Windows were two-over-two double-hung sashes. A rear wing was added around 1950. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and was demolished in 1994.

Girard, Alabama was a city in the far north-east corner of Russell County, Alabama across the Chattahoochee River from Columbus, Georgia. Named after the Philadelphia-based banker and philanthropist Stephen Girard, who had purchased much of the Muscogee territory that would become Russell County, the town of Girard served as the county's first seat from 1832 to 1839. It was incorporated around 1833. In 1923 Girard merged with Phenix City, Alabama. In 1933, the boundary of Russell County was moved north to take in all of Phenix City that had previously been in Lee County.Albert C. Baker, who was the only person to serve on the Arizona Territorial Supreme Court and the Arizona Supreme Court, was from Girard.

The Brooks-Hughes House is a historic house in Phenix City, Alabama, U.S.. It was built from 1897 to 1904 as a cottage for W. T. Hall. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 3, 1983.

The Upper Twentieth Street Residential Historic District is a historic district in Phenix City, Alabama. The land was acquired in 1880 by Scottish mill worker and merchant John Baird from his father-in-law, S. M. Ingersoll. Baird gave his daughters two lots, and each built a house on them. Merchant M. E. Edwards also built a house in the 1900s. The lots were eventually subdivided and sold, and the three cottages were joined by shotgun houses and bungalows. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Kid Alley Residential Historic District is a historic district in Phenix City, Alabama. Located in the Girard section of the city, Kid Alley was developed in 1895 as a middle-class neighborhood of Victorian rental houses. Of the original 12 houses, seven remain, ranging from shotguns to large cottages, all with elaborate scrollwork. The area gained its name from the large amount of children in the neighborhood's young families. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Columbus Ironworks (also known as the Columbus Georgia Convention & Trade Center) was built in 1853. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1969. During the Civil War, the industrial plant produced weapons for the Confederate army. These weapons included cannons, pistols, rifles, and swords. Today, it is used as an event center. Recurring events include local high school dances or dinners, Christmas in the South (a three-day Christmas sale), NerdaCon and concerts. In addition to hosting events, the center displays artifacts and factoids from its days as a factory.

The Octagon House, also known as May's Folly, is a historic octagon house at 527 1st Avenue in Columbus, Georgia. Built about 1830 and enlarged in 1863, it is claimed by the local historical society to be the nation's only known example of a double-octagon house. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973.

The Battle of Columbus, Georgia (April 16, 1865), was the last conflict in the Union campaign through Alabama and Georgia, known as Wilson's Raid, in the final full month of the American Civil War. Maj. Gen. James H. Wilson had been ordered to destroy the city of Columbus as a major Confederate manufacturing center. He exploited enemy confusion when troops from both sides crowded on to the same bridge in the dark, and the garrison withheld its cannon fire. Next morning, Wilson laid waste to the city and took many prisoners. Several authorities claim Columbus should be classified as the last battle of the Civil War, while others point to a battle which occurred after the Confederacy was vanquished, the Battle of Palmito Ranch. The Battle of Columbus is also known as the Battle of Girard, Alabama (now Phenix City).

Columbus Historic District in Columbus, Georgia is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. Its area was increased in 1988. The original district included 20 city blocks and nine partial city blocks, and was bounded by the Chattahoochee River on the west, Ninth Street on the north, Fourth Avenue (U.S. Highway 27) on the east, and Fourth Street on the south.The expanded district included 343 contributing buildings, one other structure, three sites, and one object (an 1879 Confederate war memorial).Fifteen of the historic houses had been moved but were still deemed to contribute to the historic character of the district.It includes the antebellum octagon house at 527 1st Avenue, a National Historic Landmark, named Octagon House or May's Folly.

First National Bank, also known as Bank of Columbus, is a historic building in Columbus, Georgia. It is a cast iron office building built for the Bank of Columbus at cost of $50,000 and used by the bank during 1860–66. After the bank apparently went bankrupt, the building was bought at auction for $28,000 by the Georgia Home Insurance Company. It was used by various banks since, including by First National Bank of Columbus in 1974. It was known to locals as the Iron Bank. It is located at 1048 Broadway. The building was featured on a 50 cent paper note issued by the Bank of Columbus. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.The building's cast iron front and cast iron cage were shipped from New York and Pittsburgh.

Synovus Centre is an office building in Downtown Columbus, Georgia that serves as the headquarters of regional banking and financial services company Synovus. It was built at a cost of 18 million dollars in 2003 and has views of the Chattahoochee River. The building is a condominium and contains 120,000 square feet (11,000 m2), and 5 floors. Synovus occupies the 5th floor, half of the 4th floor and the 2nd floor and parts of the 1st floor. The 3rd floor of the building is owned by Page, Scrantom, Sprouse, Tucker & Ford, P.C., the largest law firm in Columbus. A portion of the 4th floor of the building is leased to another local law firm, Pope, McGlamry, Kilpatrick & Morrison, LLP.
