Airport North station (simplified Chinese: 机场北站; traditional Chinese: 機場北站; Jyutping: Gei1 Coeng4 Bak1 Zaam6) is a station on Line 11 and Line 20 of the Shenzhen Metro. The station will serve the future Terminal T4 of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport.

Fenghuang Town station (Chinese: 凤凰城站; pinyin: Fènghuángchéng Zhàn), is a station on Line 6 of the Shenzhen Metro, in Guangdong, China. It opened on 18 August 2020. The Science Museum bound platform is the termination platform of trains after 23:30.

China Southern Airlines Flight 3456 (CZ3456/CSN3456) was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport to Shenzhen Huangtian Airport (now Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport). On 8 May 1997, the Boeing 737 performing this route crashed during the second attempt to land in a thunderstorm. The flight number 3456 is still used by China Southern and for the Chongqing-Shenzhen route but now with the Airbus A320 family or Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (formerly Shenzhen Huangtian Airport) (IATA: SZX, ICAO: ZGSZ) is the airport serving Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It is located on the east bank of the Pearl River near Huangtian and Fuyong villages in Bao'an District, and is 32 km (20 mi) northwest of the city centre. It is a hub for Shenzhen Airlines and Shenzhen Donghai Airlines and for cargo airline SF Airlines, and a focus city for China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines. The airport also serves as an Asian-Pacific cargo hub for UPS Airlines. The airport underwent major expansions in the 2010's, with a second runway opened in 2011, and a new terminal in 2013. It is one of the three largest airport hubs serving the Pearl River Delta, alongside Hong Kong International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The airport also has direct ferry routes to Hong Kong International Airport, where passengers can transit without going through immigration and custom checks, akin to transit between two flights.

A landslide of construction waste occurred at Shenzhen, on 20 December 2015. It destroyed and buried industrial buildings and worker living quarters in the nearby industrial park. The death toll was 73, with 4 people reported missing. It was an industrial accident due to human negligence rather than a natural disaster. The local police arrested some of the people involved in the irregularities of the huge waste dump which had built up in the previous two years. In April 2017, 45 people including government officials, were charged in local courts for negligence and corruption resulting in prison sentences and large fines.
