Soacha is an autonomous municipality of the department of Cundinamarca, and part of the Metropolitan Area of Bogotá. It has an important industrial zone and is home to mostly working-class families. Soacha borders Bojacá and Mosquera to the north, Sibaté and Pasca to the south, to the east the capital Bogotá and to the west Granada and San Antonio del Tequendama.

Soacha Province is one of the 15 provinces in the Cundinamarca Department, Colombia. Soacha is considered the only borough in the country, and a part of Bogotá, but legally the Colombian Republic considers it a municipality.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Soacha (Latin: Soachaënsis) is a diocese located in the city of Soacha in the Ecclesiastical province of Bogotá in Colombia.

Avianca Flight 203 was a Colombian domestic passenger flight from El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá to Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali, Colombia. It was destroyed by a bomb over the municipality of Soacha on November 27, 1989. All 107 people on board as well as three people on the ground were killed. The bombing had been ordered by the Medellín drug cartel.

Aguazuque is a pre-Columbian archaeological site located in the western part of the municipality Soacha, close to the municipalities Mosquera and San Antonio del Tequendama in Cundinamarca, Colombia. It exists of evidences of human settlement of hunter-gatherers and in the ultimate phase primitive farmers. The site is situated on the Bogotá savanna, the relatively flat highland of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense close to the present-day course of the Bogotá River at an altitude of 2,600 metres (8,500 ft) above sea level. Aguazuque is just north of another Andean preceramic archaeological site; the rock shelter Tequendama and a few kilometres south of Lake Herrera. The artefacts found mostly belong to the preceramic period, and have been dated to 5025 to 2725 BP (3000 to 700 BCE). Thus, the younger finds also pertain to the later ceramic Herrera Period. There were some difficulties in dating of the uppermost layer due to modern agricultural activity in the area; the sediments of the shallower parts were disturbed. At Aguazuque multiple palaeoanthropological finds have been made; stone and bone tools, remains of fireplaces and a multitude of pre-Columbian foods, primitive circular housing, various burial sites of individual and group interments and in the youngest dated layers, evidences of ceramics. The site represents a transition from a hunter-gatherer culture towards the earliest evidence of agriculture. A phase of settlement is attested where the people moved away from the caves and rock shelters and started inhabiting open area grounds. Investigation of Aguazuque has been conducted since 1986, mainly by archaeologist Gonzalo Correal Urrego who published the results of his studies in the book Aguazuque - evidencias de cazadores, recolectores y plantadores en la altiplanicie de la Cordillera Oriental in 1990.

Tibanica (Spanish: Humedal Tibanica) is a wetland, part of the Wetlands of Bogotá, located on the border of the locality Bosa, Bogotá and Soacha, Cundinamarca, Colombia. The wetland on the Bogotá savanna covers an area of about 28.8 hectares (71 acres). Tibanica is located in the Tunjuelo River basin.

La Isla is a small wetland, part of the wetlands of Bogotá. It is located next to the Tunjuelo River in the locality Bosa, Bogotá, Colombia. The Bogotá River passes 800 metres (2,600 ft) south of the wetland with an area of 7.7 hectares (19 acres).

The Tunjuelo or Tunjuelito River is a river on the Bogotá savanna and a left tributary of the Bogotá River. The river, with a length of 73 kilometres (45 mi) originates in the Sumapaz Páramo and flows northward through the Usme Synclinal to enter the Colombian capital Bogotá. There, the river is mostly canalised flowing westward into the Bogotá River. It is one of the three main rivers of the city, together with the Fucha and Juan Amarillo Rivers.

Bosa is the 7th locality of the Capital District of the Colombian capital, Bogotá. Bosa is located in the southwest of Bogotá and is the 8th largest locality and 9th most populated. This district is inhabited by working-class residents.

The Reminiscencias dance club shooting was a mass murder that occurred in Bogotá, Colombia on June 24, 2000, when 26-year-old Juan de Jesús Lozano Velásquez, accompanied by his friends Henry Orozco Casas and Julián Andrés Barbosa, fired an Uzi machine gun at revelers at the Reminiscencias dance club, after a friend of his asked them for help in case of a possible fight after a young woman refused to dance with him earlier. Velásquez killed eleven people, including Barbosa (by accident), wounded seven others, and then escaped with Orozco Casas, but was eventually arrested in Spain several months later, extradited back, and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The Soacha River is a river on the Bogotá savanna and a left tributary of the Bogotá River.

The simple station Centro Comercial Paseo Villa del Río - Madelena is part of the TransMilenio mass-transit system of Bogotá, Colombia, opened in 2000.
