Aeroflot Flight 2415

Aeroflot Flight 411 was an international scheduled flight from Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow to Freetown, Sierra Leone via Dakar in Senegal. Early on 6 July 1982, the four-engined Ilyushin Il-62 crashed and was destroyed by fire after two engines were shut down shortly after take-off. All 90 passengers and crew on board died as a result of the crash.

Mendeleyevo (Russian: Менделе́ево) is an urban locality (a work settlement) in Solnechnogorsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, which stands on the Klyazma River, about 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) from its source, near the city of Zelenograd, and opposite of the ancient Russian village of Lyalovo. Population: 7,927 (2010 Census); 8,030 (2002 Census); 9,172 (1989 Census).It was founded in 1957 as a closed town attached to the All-Union (now All-Russian) Scientific Research Institute for Physical-Engineering and Radiotechnical Metrology (VNIIFTRI), and is named after the famous Russian chemist Dmitry Mendeleyev who was an eminent metrologist as well. While not now officially in the list of Russian naukograds, it is still close to this category, as the VNIIFTRI scientific institute remains one of the most important local employers. Aeroflot Flight 411 crashed near the town in July 1982.

It is located on high left bank of the Klyazma River about 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) from its source, 1 kilometer (0.62 mi) from Mendeleyevo, and about 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) from Zelenograd.

Skhodnya (Russian: Сходня) was formerly a town in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Skhodnya River some 12 km northwest of Moscow. On September 15, 2004, it was merged into the city of Khimki.Skhodnya's population was recorded at 19,119 inhabitants as of the 2002 Census; down from 20,366 recorded in the 1989 Census. In 1974, the population stood at around 19,000. Skhodnya was founded in 1874 and granted town status in 1961. In 1974, a former manor house in Skhodnya was the site of a camp training Middle Eastern terrorists in the use of small arms, explosives, military tactics, and ideology.

Angstrem Stadium is a football stadium in Zelenograd, Moscow, Russia. It is the home stadium of FC Zelenograd. The stadium was initially built in the 1970s for the Angstrem company, handed over to the club in 2006 and reconstructed in 2007. In April 2014 the stadium was listed as possible 2018 FIFA World Cup training base for teams playing in Moscow.

The Shtyki Memorial (Russian: Мемориальный комплекс «Штыки», lit. bayonets), also named the Monument to the Defenders of Moscow (памятник Защитникам Москвы), is a memorial complex in honour of those who defended Russia in the Battle of Moscow. At the site are a common grave and an architectural complex. It is located on the 40th km of Leningrad highway, at the second entry into the city of Zelenograd heading south, and the road to Mendeleyevo heading north. The memorial complex obtained its name because of the central obelisk, which represents the stylized image of three bayonets held together. The first burials in the common grave were in the winter of 1941; the architectural features were completed on 24 June 1974. The architects of the project were I. A. Pokrovsky, and Y. A. Sverdlovsky, with sculptors A. G. Shteyman, and E. A. Shteyman-Derevyanko.

National Research University "Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology") is a Russian technical university in the field of microelectronics, information and computer technologies and one of 29 National Research Universities. University was founded in 1965 and is based in Zelenograd, Moscow (the Soviet Union's center for electronic and microelectronic design and engineering).
