The S. M. Budyonny Military Academy of the Signal Corps is a military university in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, founded in 1919. The academy trains officers for service in the Signal Troops of the Russian Ground Forces.

Politekhnicheskaya (Russian: Политехни́ческая) (translated: Polytechnical) is a station of the Saint Petersburg Metro. Opened on 31 December 1975. It is named for the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute which is near the station.

The university offers academic programs at the Bachelor, Master's and Doctorate degree levels. The Saint Petersburg Military Engineering-Technical University (Nikolaevsky) (Russian: Санкт-Петербургский Военный инженерно-технический университет, VITU), previously known as the Saint Petersburg Nikolaevsky Engineering Academy, was established in 1810 under Alexander I. The university is situated in the former barracks of the Cavalier-Guard Regiment where the university was founded.

The Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (for short, Ioffe Institute, Russian: Физико-технический институт им. А. Ф. Иоффе) is one of Russia's largest research centers specialized in physics and technology. The institute was established in 1918 in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg) and run for several decades by Abram Ioffe. The Institute is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Academic Lyceum Physics and Technology School, (also Physical-Technical School, abbreviated "PhTS", "FTSH"), a St. Petersburg National Research Academic University of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is a Russian high school founded in 1987 by Zhores Alferov. The Physics and Technology School is the only high school in Russia belonging to the Russian Academy of Sciences, and regularly places students in international math, physics, and science olympiads.

Alferov Federal State Budgetary Institution of Higher Education and Science Saint Petersburg National Research Academic University of the Russian Academy of Sciences (abbreviated SPbAU RAS, also referred to as the Academic University or Alferov University) was founded in 1997 originally as the Research and Education Center of the Ioffe Institute to integrate science and education in the field of physics and information technologies. It has the distinction of being the only university in the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), which is composed primarily of national research institutes. Accordingly, the word "Academic" in the university's name stems from the Academy of Sciences, the organization that unites numerous national research institutes in Russia. The St. Petersburg Academic University was founded by Zhores Alferov, director of the Ioffe Institute, vice-president of the RAS Academician and Nobel prize laureate, who served as its rector until his death on March 1, 2019.

Ploshchad Muzhestva (Russian: Пло́щадь Му́жества, Square of Fortitude) is a station of the Saint Petersburg Metro. Opened on 31 December 1975. The station got its name because of its location next to the eponymous square (roundabout). The square and the station were designed as a starting point on the way to Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery where hundreds of thousands of victims, mostly civilian, of the 1941-44 siege of the city during World War II are buried.

Sports School of Olympic Reserve for Water Sports "Ekran" — an Olympic reserve sports school — trains athletes in swimming, water polo, and diving. Founded in 1961 in Leningrad.

Ploschad Muzhestva (Russian: Пло́щадь Му́жества [ˈploɕːɪtʲ ˈmuʐɪstvə], transl. Square of Fortitude) is an open public square, shaped as a roundabout, in the north-east of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Its name and decoration commemorate the fortitude city dwellers demonstrated during the nearly 900-day-long 1941–44 Nazi Germany Siege of Leningrad as the square opens the way to the biggest burial place of the siege victims Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery. The underground station of the same name opened next to the square on 31 December 1975. The square joins five streets, two of which form northeastern roughly latitudinal part of the city's Central Arc Thoroughfare that as a whole connects much of the city's uptown residential areas with southwestern and northwestern suburban motorways. Mostly nearly longitudinal Polytechnical Street and its northern coaxials mark the boundary between Vyborg District and Kalinin District of the city.

Akademicheskaya (Russian: Академи́ческая) is a station of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It is part of the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya line, located between the stations " Polytechnicheskaya" and " Grazhdansky prospect". It opened on 31 December 1975. The station is about 64 metres (210 ft) under the ground. The station's name was determined by the fact that there are a number of research institutes nearby, so a number of streets in this area were named according to the broad principle - glorify science and its figures. From July 30, 2018, to July 1, 2019, the station was closed for overhaul.

Kalininsky District (Russian: Кали́нинский райо́н) is a district of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 504,641; up from 469,409 recorded in the 2002 Census.
