Nipissing University is a public university located in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. The campus overlooks Lake Nipissing.

The Nipissing Lakers are the athletic teams that represent Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, Canada that compete in U Sports. The Lakers varsity programs compete in men's and women's basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, soccer, cross country running, rowing, and nordic skiing. The Lakers also have a university ringette team but it is not yet a part of the Ontario University Athletics program.

The North Bay Regional Health Center (NBRHC) is a hospital located on a 32-acre site off Highway 17 in North Bay, Ontario. This Northern Ontario hospital consists of 2 main buildings which cover 70,171m2 of the site. The 3-storey District Hospital occupies 275 acute care beds while the 2-storey Regional Mental Health Center contains 113 beds. The main circulation hall, known as “Main Street”, runs along the entire length of the hospital and acts as a link between facilities.The North Bay Regional Health Center was designed by local architecture firm Evans Bertrand Hill Wheeler Architecture Inc., with Brian Bertrand assigned to the project as lead architect. This facility combined the two former and separate sites of the St. Joseph’s General Hospital – North Bay and the Northeast Mental Health Center.During initial design discussions for the facility, redesigning and modernizing the former St. Joseph’s General Hospital was discussed. The cost of a redesign on this scale, however, would have been equivalent, or higher, than designing and building an entirely new structure. The location on which to construct the NBRHC was carefully chosen, as this new facility would be built to accommodate North Bay and the surrounding regions in both general acute health care and mental health care services. Of the 28 sites considered, 50 College Drive was seen to offer ease of access for patients, a stark natural surrounding, and room for further development. Once the location was confirmed, the design process began and construction crews broke ground on March 24, 2007.

The Pro-cathedral of the Assumption ('Pro' meaning ‘in place of’) is a historical Catholic church in the city of North Bay, Ontario. The white limestone building, built in 1905, speaks to the history of the city as well as a strong faith community that came together to construct a building of impressive scale and craft for the small city in Northern Ontario. The tall church is a landmark, holding a central role as a gathering place, not only for the city, but also for the entire diocese of Sault Ste. Marie.

Widdifield Secondary School (WSS) was a high school located in North Bay, Ontario. It was a member of the Near North District School Board.

CKTR-FM was a radio station broadcasting at 104.9 FM in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Originally a tourist information station, the station later evolved toward a community radio format, airing programs produced by a variety of commercial and community groups, including the local chamber of commerce, real estate and financial planning agents, health and wellness consultants, sports and recreational clubs and students from Nipissing University.

North Bay is a city in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is the seat of Nipissing District, and takes its name from its position on the shore of Lake Nipissing. North Bay developed as a railroad centre, and its airport was an important military location during the Cold War. The city is located 300 kilometres (190 mi) from both Ottawa and Toronto.

Chippewa Secondary School is located along Chippewa Creek in North Bay, Ontario and is part of the Near North District School Board. A Grade 7-12 school, Chippewa offers English and Immersion French programming for Grades 7 through 12. In addition, students can enroll in Specialist High Skills Majors in Business, Sports or Health and Wellness. Chippewa Secondary School is an accredited school for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program since 2015. Chippewa's motto is "Carpe Diem" which is Latin for "Seize The Day". Athletes and students at Chippewa are known as the Chippewa Raiders (this mascot name is currently under review, as is the school’s name - Chippewa), and the school colours are scarlet and gold. The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC), or simply Ontario Northland, is a Crown agency of the Government of Ontario responsible for providing transportation services for passengers and goods in Northern Ontario. It reports to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario through the Minister of Transportation. ONTC operates freight and passenger services in Northern Ontario through its Ontario Northland Railway and Ontario Northland Motor Coach services. It previously operated an airline, NorOntair (shut down in 1996), and a telecommunications company, Ontera (sold to Bell Aliant in 2014).

The North Bay Memorial Gardens is an arena located in North Bay, Ontario. It was built in 1955 and has a capacity of 4,246. The Gardens hosted the North Bay Centennials ice hockey team from 1982 to 2002, before they moved to Saginaw, Michigan. The arena's primary tenants today are the North Bay Battalion of the OHL and the Nipissing Lakers men's and women's ice hockey team of the OUA. In 2007 Memorial Gardens played host to the Atlanta Thrashers and New York Islanders for a pre-season game after the city of North Bay was crowned as Hockeyville. The City and the Committee that brought Hockeyville to North Bay used the prize money to put up a new electronic rink sign. The arena underwent a $12 million renovation for the new OHL franchise, the North Bay Battalion's arrival for the 2013–2014 season, also signing a 15-year lease with the arena. As part of the renovations, the seating capacity was increased, the ice surface was reconfigured to new OHL standards, 10 private boxes were added as well as a new 2-level team dressing room. The renovations were first $600,000 over budget even though promises were made to cut the renovations if it went over the $12 million mark by local government who ended up making special funds out of reserve to pay the cost overruns. Six weeks later a further $4.5 million was announced as spent on the project without the knowledge of local government from city taxpayers accounts, with an audit being called that later revealed little paper work and no communication of costs were done on the city's largest municipal project. It hosted the 2013 World Ringette Championships as well as the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship.

Nipissing District is a district in Northeastern Ontario in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1858. The district seat is North Bay. In 2016, the population was 83,150. The land area is 17,103.52 square kilometres (6,603.71 sq mi); the population density was 4.9 per square kilometre (13/sq mi), making it one of the most densely populated districts in northern Ontario.
