The OJSC Baltic Shipyard (Baltiysky Zavod, formerly Shipyard 189 named after Grigoriy Ordzhonikidze) (Russian: Балтийский завод имени С. Орджоникидзе) is one of the oldest shipyards in Russia and is part of United Shipbuilding Corporation today. It is located in Saint Petersburg in the south-western part of Vasilievsky Island. It is one of the three shipyards active in Saint Petersburg. Together with the Admiralty Shipyard it has been responsible for building many Imperial Russian battleships as well as Soviet nuclear-powered icebreakers. Currently it specializes in merchant ships while the Admiralty yard specializes in diesel-electric submarines. in addition, it is responsible for construction of Russian floating nuclear power stations.

Erarta is the largest private museum of contemporary art in Russia, located in Saint Petersburg.The name of Erarta Museum is derived from uniting two words, “Era” and “Arta”, whose combination can be translated from Russian as “the era of art”.The museum has been recognised as one of the “5 Cultural Gems” in Saint-Petersburg by National Geographic.

Vasileostrovsky tram depot is the oldest tram depot in Saint Petersburg. It was built in 1906 - 1908 by Westinghouse Electric. Vasileostrovsky trampark is a shrine for citizens, because it is associated with the unprecedented feat of Leningrad during World War II against Nazi Germany. Today the Museum of electrical transport is located there.

The Faculty of Law at Saint Petersburg State University is the oldest law school and one of the biggest research centers in Russia.

Erarta Galleries are the three galleries established in the 2010s in London (UK), Hong Kong (China) and St. Petersburg (Russia) with a goal to promote contemporary art in the corresponding country and outside its borders. The project itself is a private institution. A promotional process is based on reinvestments from sales of art pieces back into the project. In 2016, two of these galleries were closed; only the gallery in St. Petersburg survived up to now.

The Museum of Electrical Transport is located on Vasilyevsky Island in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Vasilyevsky Island (Russian: Васи́льевский о́стров, Vasilyevsky Ostrov, V.O.) is an island in St. Petersburg, Russia, bordered by the Bolshaya Neva and Malaya Neva Rivers (in the delta of the Neva River) in the south and northeast, and by Neva Bay of the Gulf of Finland in the west. Vasilyevsky Island is separated from Dekabristov Island by the Smolenka River. Together they form the territory of Vasileostrovsky District, an administrative division of Saint Petersburg. Situated just across the river from the Winter Palace, it constitutes a large portion of the city's historic center. Two of the most famous St. Petersburg bridges, Palace Bridge and Blagoveshchensky Bridge, connect it with the mainland to the south. The Exchange Bridge and Tuchkov Bridge across the Malaya Neva connect it with Petrogradsky Island. Vasilyevsky Island is served by Vasileostrovskaya and Primorskaya stations of Saint Petersburg Metro (Line 3 ). There are plans to build new Metro stations on Vasilyevsky Island by extending Line 4 (the Orange Line) to the Island. In addition, the island is serviced by bus routes and tramway lines.

The Kuryokhin Center, or more extended the Sergey Kuryokhin Center for Modern Art, is a non-profit cultural centre in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The centre was founded in 2004 and named after the Russian avant garde composer Sergey Kuryokhin. The main space of the centre has a capacity of 2000 people. The venue is located in an old cinema building.

Municipal Okrug #7 (Russian: муниципа́льный о́круг № 7) is a municipal okrug of Vasileostrovsky District of the federal city of St. Petersburg, Russia. Population: 39,168 (2010 Census); 45,696 (2002 Census).It borders Sredny Avenue, 25 Line, Bolshoy Avenue, Detskaya Street, and Kosaya Line in the north and in the west, the Neva River in the south and in east. The eastern side of the okrug is old. The majority of the tourist sights, such as the Old Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange and Rostral Columns, Kunstkamera, Saint Petersburg State University, Imperial Academy of Arts, and the Menshikov Palace are located there. The central part is mostly financial and is home to the Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange. The western side is mostly industrial and houses the port of Saint Petersburg. The Church of Our Lady the Merciful (Russian: Церковь иконы Божией Матери Милующей), is a former Russian Orthodox Church in St Petersburg, Russia currently under restoration. It is located in the Vasileostrovsky District, on Vasilievsky Island, at the address 100, Bolshoi Prospekt. During Soviet times the building was used as a training center for naval rescue divers. The church was the prototype for the Naval Cathedral in Kronstadt. The government began the process of return to the Russian Orthodox Church in 2006 and the official process was concluded in 2012. It is under restoration to its original use.

Smolensky Cemetery (Russian: Смоленское кладбище) is the oldest continuously operating cemetery in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It occupies a rectangular parcel in the western part of Vasilievsky Island, on the bank of the small Smolenka River, and is divided into the Orthodox, Lutheran, and Armenian sections.

The Russian Mineralogical Society (RMS) is a public scientific organization uniting specialists and scientific groups working in the field of mineralogy and adjacent sciences. RMS was founded in 1817 Saint Petersburg, Russia, and is the world oldest mineralogical society among present. From 1869 till nowadays its residence is the Saint Petersburg Mining Institute. RMS represents the Russian Federation with regard to the science of mineralogy in any international context. RMS is a member and one of the establishers (Madrid, 8 April 1958) of the International Mineralogical Association.
