Palisadoes

Rockfort, located east of Kingston, Jamaica, in an area previously known as Harbour Head, is the ruins of a 17th century rock fort that was once surrounded by a moat. First the site of a British rock fort, it was fortified in 1694 to protect the eastern edge of Kingston against an invasion by the French. To thwart any eastward advance of the Morant Bay rebellion to Kingston, it was last staffed in 1865. The site that once protected Kingston Harbour is under the administration of the Jamaica National Heritage Trust.After an earthquake in 1907, a spring formed in the mountains above the area. Spring water now feeds into the Rockfort Mineral Baths located at the site of the fort.

Harbour View is a community in Kingston, Jamaica. It is administered by the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation and is served by the Kingston 17 Post Office. Harbour View was built in 1960, two years before the country's Independence in 1962. The community was the first in Jamaica to have a community paper and its residents claim that the community was the first to host street dances. Harbour View is located in East Kingston and can be described as one of the best communities to live and raise families .

The Hope River (Jamaica) is a river of Jamaica. It flows from 15 miles north of Kingston and then forms a delta at Kingston.

Harbour View Stadium is a football stadium in Harbour View, near Kingston, Jamaica. It was built by Carvel Stewart and Harbour View Football Club in the 1990s, as a part of the club's effort to transform into a truly professional organization. It is the home stadium for the Harbour View Football Club, and has a capacity of 7,000 spectators. The national team has played several international games at this stadium, as well as the club when they compete in the CFU club championships and the CONCACAF club championships. One highlight was the 2005 CONCACAF Champion's cup home game, which was televised to the world from the Harbour View Stadium on Fox Soccer Channel. The stadium has two bars and a Western Union outlet, and the field is almost completely surrounded by billboards. This provides revenue for the upkeep of the grounds.

The Caribbean Maritime University is a Jamaican higher education institution specialising in maritime education and training. Its primary campus is located on the Palisadoes Park, overlooking the Kingston Harbour.

Prinz Waldemar was a steam passenger-cargo ship built in 1902 by the Reiherstieg Schiffswerfte & Maschinenfabrik of Hamburg for Hamburg America Line (HAPAG). She was named after Prince Waldemar of Prussia. The ship was primarily employed as a passenger and cargo carrier between Hamburg and South America during her career.

On 22 December 2009, an American Airlines Boeing 737-800, operating American Airlines Flight 331 (Washington, D.C.–Miami–Kingston, Jamaica) and carrying 148 passengers and six crew, overran runway 12 on landing at Kingston in poor weather. The plane continued on the ground outside the airport perimeter and broke apart on the beach, causing injuries. Factors contributing to the crash include the speed of the aircraft upon landing and the plane touching down more than 4,000 feet from the threshold of the runway. Contributing factors included American Airlines' failure to provide training on tailwind landings, and the FAA's failure to implement the NTSB's previous recommendation, following a previous fatal accident involving a tailwind landing attempt, that the FAA require commercial operators to train flight crews on tailwind landings.

Rockfort is a community in Kingston, Jamaica that is bounded by Long Mountain range to the north, the sea and Springfield Gardens to the south, Mountain View and Rollington Town to the west, and Harbour View to the east.

Rennock Lodge is a neighbourhood in Kingston, Jamaica. J.E. Duerden reported finding pre-Columbian art in the area in 1879 in the form of two stone sculpted "images" described as amulets.

Bournemouth Gardens is a neighborhood in the eastern area of Kingston, Jamaica, off of Kingston Harbour. It was previously called Barn Pen. Bellevue Hospital for mental illness is located in Bournemouth Gardens.

Constant Spring is a residential neighbourhood in the north of Kingston, Jamaica.

Plumb Point Lighthouse is an active 19th century heritage lighthouse, located on the Palisadoes a narrow peninsular that connects Port Royal to the mainland. The light helps guide shipping into Kingston Harbour. Built in 1853 it is claimed that the light at the lighthouse has gone out only once since then, during the 1907 earthquake. The 70 feet (21 m) stone and cast iron tower with lantern and gallery shows a white light visible for about 40 km (25 mi) over the entrance of the eastern navigable channel and a red light over the south channel which is visible for 20 km (12 mi).The entire lighthouse is painted white and is in the historic Port Royal Protected Area, which the government hopes to develop as a tourist attraction. It is positioned about 8 km (5.0 mi) east of Port Royal and the entrance to Kingston Harbour near Norman Manley International Airport.It is maintained by the Port Authority of Jamaica, an agency of the Ministry of Transport and Works.
