North Haven, Connecticut

North Haven High School is a public high school located at 221 Elm Street in North Haven, Connecticut. It has an enrollment of approximately 1,300 students in grades 9 through 12.

The Pines Bridge Historic District encompasses a historic industrial and commercial village in North Haven, Connecticut. Located just west of the town green and centered around the Broadway bridge over the Quinnipiac River, the village developed first as a commercial hub around a 17th-century bridge at the site, and then as a small industrial village in the 19th century. Now mainly residential, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Connecticut's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Connecticut. Located in the central part of the state, the district includes the city of New Haven and its surrounding suburbs. Principal cities include: Middletown, New Haven, and Stratford. The district is currently represented by Democrat Rosa DeLauro.

North Haven is a planned regional rail station on the New Haven–Springfield Line near Route 40 and Route 5 in North Haven, Connecticut, to be served by the Hartford Line service. The project has been funded for design, with construction expected to cost $52 million. The first North Haven station opened on Broadway in 1838 on the Hartford and New Haven Railroad. One of its replacements, built in 1867 and still standing, was served until around 1971 by the New Haven Railroad and Penn Central. Amtrak operated a station at the modern site from 1980 to 1986.

The Rising Sun Tavern is a historic house and former public accommodation on Old Tavern Road in North Haven, Connecticut. Probably built around 1760, it is a well-preserved example of an 18th-century tavern house, serving in that role into the mid-19th century. Now a private residence, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Quinnipiac River State Park is a public recreation area located in the town of North Haven, Connecticut. The four sections of the state park protect 6 miles (9.7 km) of the Quinnipiac River. The park was traversed by a 4-mile (6.4 km) stretch of the Quinnipiac Trail. This section of the trail through Quinnipiac River State Park has been officially abandoned, and is no longer blazed or maintained. Connecticut Forest and Parks Association, who maintains the CT blue blazed trail system, now recognizes the trail head at Old Hartford Turnpike as the southern terminus of the trail. It was deemed impractical to maintain the trail through the active floodplain of the Quinnipiac River. This section is not shown on current maps of the Quinnipiac Trail nor in the twentieth edition of the Connecticut Walk Book.The park was created in 1948 on land left over from the construction of the Wilbur Cross Parkway. In addition to hiking, the park offers canoeing, fishing, and hunting. It is managed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The Elam Ives House is a historic house at 95 Ives Street in Hamden, Connecticut. Built in 1790, it is one of Hamden's oldest houses, and was home to the economically important Ives family, from whom the Ivesville area takes its name. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Centerville, originally spelled Centreville, is a neighborhood in the east-central portion of the town of Hamden, Connecticut. It is the location of Hamden Town Hall and other major town government buildings. It derived its name from being at the intersection of the town's two principal thoroughfares, Whitney and Dixwell avenues, both with commercial development. The rest of the neighborhood is residential, with single-family houses, condominiums, and apartments.As with all neighborhoods in Hamden, it has no officially-defined boundaries. One map has it bounded on the north by James and Forest streets, on the east by Mill River, mostly coinciding with the North Haven town line, on the south by Skiff Street, and on the west by Dixwell and Evergreen avenues. The census tract with GEOID 09009166001, corresponding approximately to these boundaries, had a population of 6,887, as of the 2010 census.

Whitney Avenue is a principal arterial connecting Downtown New Haven with the town center of Hamden in the U.S. state of Connecticut. Most of the road within the city of New Haven is included in the Whitney Avenue Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The designation begins at Grove Street in the northern part of Downtown New Haven and extends through the town of Hamden up to the Cheshire town line. North of Dixwell Avenue in Hamden Center, the road is a state highway and designated as part of Route 10. From the New Haven town line to Dixwell Avenue, the road is state-maintained with an unsigned designation of State Road 707. Within New Haven, Whitney Avenue is a town road. The J route of Connecticut Transit New Haven, which connects New Haven to Waterbury, runs along Whitney Avenue. Whitney Avenue is named after Eli Whitney, Jr., whose factory was located by the Mill River near the road.

The Hamden Memorial Town Hall houses the municipal offices of the town of Hamden, Connecticut, and serves as a memorial to its military service people. Located at junction of Dixwell and Whitney Avenues and completed in 1924, it is a prominent local example of Colonial and Classical Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The John Barker House is a historic house at 898 Clintonville Road in Wallingford, Connecticut. Built in 1756 for a wealthy farmer, it is one of the oldest brick houses in Connecticut, and one of the few of the period with a gambrel roof. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
