The Bloc Los Angeles

MCI Center is a 126.3 m (414 ft) skyscraper in downtown Los Angeles, California, United States. It was completed in November, 1973 and has 33 floors. It is 32nd tallest building in Los Angeles. The Class A building has 63,032 m2 (678,470 sq ft) of office space with a glass atrium and courtyard. On March 21, 2005 Jamison Properties bought the building for $150 per square foot totaling $101,770,500. This purchase included 925 West Eighth Street (originally known as the "Broadway Plaza" which became known as Macy's Plaza) and the 3,000 space parking garage. In 2013, the Ratkovich Company acquired the property, and after a redesign by Johnson Fain Architects, renamed the plaza “The Bloc.” Originally known for the fortress-like facade, the ground level was opened up and made more pedestrian friendly by removing the original brick walls and the glass atrium. The redevelopment features a below grade open public plaza that directly connects to the 7th Street / Metro Center Station. This is the first direct underground connection of a private development to a subway station on Metro's system. Metrolink at one time had its headquarters in the MCI Center. By 2000, Metrolink had expanded its lease in the MCI Center by 6,700 square feet (620 m2), giving the agency a total of around 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) of space. In June 2011, Metrolink moved its headquarters to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) headquarters at 1 Gateway Plaza at Los Angeles Union Station.The offices of La Opinión are in Suites 3000 and 3100, while ImpreMedia Digital has its offices in Suite 3000.

7th Street/Metro Center station is an underground light rail and rapid transit (known locally as a subway) station on the A Line, B Line, D Line and E Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. The station also has street level stops for the J Line of the Los Angeles Metro Busway system. The station is located under 7th Street, after which the station is named, at its intersections with Figueroa, Flower and Hope Streets. This station is the current northern and eastern terminus for the A Line and E Line, respectively. Both lines are expected to be extended in 2022 as part of the Regional Connector project. It is officially named 7th Street/Metro Center/Julian Dixon station after former U.S. Rep. Julian Dixon, who had pivotal role in obtaining the federal funding that enabled construction of the Metro Rail system.

The landmark Fine Arts Building is located at 811 West 7th Street in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Also known as the Global Marine House, it was declared a historic cultural monument in 1974.

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is the community college district serving Los Angeles, California, and some of its neighboring cities and certain unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Its headquarters are in Downtown Los Angeles. Over the past seventy-seven years, LACCD has served as educator to more than three million students. In addition to typical college aged students, the LACCD also serves adults of all ages: over half of all LACCD students are older than 25 years of age, and more than a quarter are 35 or older. LACCD educates almost three times as many Latino students and nearly four times as many African-American students as all of the University of California campuses combined. Eighty percent of LACCD students are from underserved populations. The Los Angeles Community College District is the largest community college district in the United States and is one of the largest in the world. The nine colleges within the district offer educational opportunities to students in Los Angeles. It serves students located in the Alhambra, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Culver City, Garvey, Las Virgenes, Los Angeles, Montebello, Palos Verdes and San Gabriel school districts. The district covers the Los Angeles city limits, San Fernando, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Hidden Hills, Burbank, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Alhambra, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Rosemead (southern portion), Montebello, Commerce, Vernon, Huntington Park, Bell, Cudahy, Bell Gardens, South Gate, Gardena, Carson, Lomita, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, Rancho Palos Verdes, and numerous unincorporated communities, including East Los Angeles, Florence-Firestone, Athens, and Walnut Park. The LACCD consists of nine colleges and covers an area of more than 882 square miles (2,280 km2).

South Park Lofts, located in downtown Los Angeles, was built in 1924 as an eight-story parking garage. It was one of America's first parking structures, and is one of the few parking garages listed in the National Register of Historic Places, having received the distinction in 2004. The building has been converted to lofts and is now known as "South Park Lofts." As "Building at 816 Grand Avenue", it is one of more than ten buildings designed by Claud Beelman listed on the National Register.

The General Petroleum Building, also known as the Mobil Oil Building and the Pegasus Apartments, is a highrise building in the Modern architecture style located in Downtown Los Angeles .

Engine Company No. 28 is a former Los Angeles Fire Department fire station on Figueroa Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Built in 1912 at a cost of US$50,000, the structure served as an operating fire station until it was closed in 1967. One of the first reinforced concrete fire stations in the city, it is a Class A fire-proof structure built of brick, hollow tile and concrete. In 1979, the building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In the late 1980s, it was renovated as a restaurant, "Engine Company No. 28.", that served food based on recipes from American fire houses. The building was featured as an operating fire station in Los Angeles in the 2011 video game L.A. Noire. Since 2007, the building has housed the law firm Geragos & Geragos, and is owned by Mark Geragos.

The First Interstate Tower fire was a high-rise fire that occurred on May 4, 1988, at the First Interstate Tower (now Aon Center) in Los Angeles, California, a 62-story, 860 foot (260 m) skyscraper, then the tallest building in the city. The fire destroyed five floors of the building, injured 40 people, and caused the death of a maintenance worker, when the elevator he was riding opened onto the burning 12th floor.

Wilshire Grand Center is a 1,100-foot (335.3 m) skyscraper in the financial district of downtown Los Angeles, California, occupying the entire city block between Wilshire Boulevard and 7th, Figueroa, and Francisco streets. Completed in 2017, it is the tallest building west of Chicago. Its height surpasses L.A.'s U.S. Bank Tower by 82 ft (25 m).The building is part of a mixed-use hotel, retail, observation decks, shopping mall, and office complex. The development of the complex is estimated to cost $1.2 billion. The Wilshire Grand Center includes 67,000 square feet (6,225 m2) of retail, 677,000 square feet (62,895 m2) of Class A office space, and the 889-room InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. The hotel features a 70th floor Sky Lobby, state-of-the-art fitness center, expansive pool deck and several restaurants including a high-end steakhouse and Spire 73 – the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere.

LA Grand Hotel is a proposed super tall tower by Shenzhen World Group in Los Angeles, California. The new tower will rise in Downtown Los Angeles's Bunker Hill neighborhood, one block west of the currently under-construction Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill Metro Rail station. It is proposed to house 242 condominiums, 559 hotel rooms, and 28,700 square feet of retail along Figueroa St. The proposed complex is currently in the design/funding process. No timeline has been announced.The Tower development was placed on hold in 2019 due to corruption allegations between the developer and council member Jose Huizar. The US Attorney's office has filed charges described in public legal papers, accusing the developer to giving $500,000 to an unnamed person.

Angels Landing is a proposed development complex in Downtown Los Angeles, California, consisting of two regular high-rise buildings.At the southeast corner of the site is a portal for the Pershing Square station serving the Metro B Line (Red) and the Metro D Line (Purple). The site is next to Angels Flight and the adjacent public staircase, across the street from Grand Central Market and near Pershing Square. The 2.2-acre (0.89 ha) sloping site in the Bunker Hill neighborhood is owned by the City of Los Angeles. The site was the former Angels Knoll Park, made popular by the film 500 Days of Summer in 2009.

Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) is the lead agency responsible for coordinating housing and social services for the homeless in Los Angeles County. LAHSA allocates funds and administers contracts with regional agencies that provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing, and other services that assist homeless individuals. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year, LAHSA had an annual budget of US$845,367,023. LAHSA is governed by a 10-member board of commissioners, five of whom are appointed by the Mayor of Los Angeles, while the remaining five are appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
