The Acciona Open de España (formerly the Spanish Open) is the national open golf championship of Spain. It was founded in 1912 and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the inception of the Tour in 1972. The tournament has been played in April or May, except for a five-year period in the early 1980s and since the 2019 edition, when the tournament was moved to October. In 2005, it was one of five European Tour events to be held in Spain. Former champions include Arnold Palmer, Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo and Jon Rahm. The tournament has been organized by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation. In April 2019, a partnership between the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the European Tour, and Madrid Trophy Promotion (MTP) was announced. This agreement meant that MTP became the organizer of the event for the next 5 years. MTP is also the organizer of the Mutua Madrid Open, a professional tennis tournament.

The Higher School of Computer Engineering at UNED (Spanish: Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, National University of Distance Education) is an institute of higher education in Spain, with an extensive network of collaborating institutions, that teaches and issues degrees in Computer Science Engineering, Computer Systems Engineer and Business Computing Engineering, as well as bachelors, masters and PhDs.

The Hipódromo de la Zarzuela is a race course on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. It was designed in the 1930s. The architecture is in a modernist style which has been described as racionalismo madrileño.Races held at the facility include the Gran Premio de Madrid which has been held there since 1941.

The Palace of Moncloa or Moncloa Palace (Spanish: Palacio de la Moncloa) is the official residence and workplace of the Prime Minister of Spain. It is located in Puerta de Hierro Avenue, in the Moncloa-Aravaca district in Madrid. It has been the official residence of the Prime Minister since 1977, when Adolfo Suárez moved the residence from the Palace of Villamejor. The Moncloa Complex includes 16 buildings, a bunker and a hospital. The Ministry of the Presidency, the Deputy Prime Minister's Office, the Cabinet Office, the Chief of Staff's Office and the Press Office are located in this complex. The weekly meetings of the Council of Ministers are also held at La Moncloa. In Spain 'Moncloa' is sometimes used as a metonym for the central government, especially when contrasting with the governments of the Autonomous Communities.

The 1970 Eisenhower Trophy took place 23 to 26 September at the Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro in Madrid, Spain. It was the seventh World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 36 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States won the Eisenhower Trophy for the fourth time, finishing 12 strokes ahead of the silver medalists, New Zealand. South Africa took the bronze medal while Australia finished fourth. Victor Regalado from Mexico had the lowest individual score, eight-under-par 280, three strokes better than Dale Hayes from South Africa. Tom Kite was ill on the final day and didn't complete his final round.

The headquarters of the Cultural Heritage Institute of Spain (Spanish: Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España) are located in Madrid, Spain. They were declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 2001.Building was projected in 1967 by architects Fernando Higueras and Antonio Miró Valverde, and built from 1967 to 1970.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters is a building in Madrid, Spain, part of the Complutense University of Madrid's Moncloa Campus. An example of rationalist architecture, it was projected in 1931–32 by Agustín Aguirre López as the southern end of a closed compound intending to gather the academic disciplines of humanities of the Central University. The first part of the building was inaugurated in 1933. Figures such as Ortega y Gasset, Américo Castro, Manuel García Morente, Xavier Zubiri, María de Maeztu, Manuel Gómez-Moreno, Claudio Sánchez Albornoz and Elías Tormo taught at the building. While the final part was expected to be inaugurated by 1936, the Civil War aborted such plans, and the building was subject of heavy damage by Francoist artillery as it became the headquarters of the XI International Brigade. It was thus reinagurated after undertaking a reconstruction in 1943. The School of Philosophy and Letters was divided in Geography and History, Philology, Philosophy, and Education Sciences in 1974, and the building currently houses just the schools of Philosophy and Philology.Described as "the most emblematic [building] at the Ciudad Universitaria and the one that has endured best the past of time, as it has preserved its architectural configuration with no expansions nor substantial modifications", it was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 2017.

The Technical University of Madrid or sometimes called Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spanish: Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM) is a public university, located in Madrid, Spain. It was founded in 1971 as the result of merging different Technical Schools of Engineering and Architecture, originating mainly in the 18th century. Over 35,000 students attend classes during the year. According to the annual university ranking conducted by El Mundo, the Technical University of Madrid ranks as the top technical university in Spain, and second overall. The majority of its Engineering Schools are consistently ranked as leading academic institutions in Spain in their fields, and among the very best in Europe.The UPM is part of the TIME network, which groups fifty engineering schools throughout Europe.

The Puente de los Franceses (Bridge of the Frenchmen) railway viaduct is located in Madrid, Spain. Comprising five semi-circular brick skew arches, it was built in the second half of the 19th century to carry the railway line from the north (Madrid - Venta de Baños - Irun) across the River Manzanares.

The Complutense University of Madrid (Spanish: Universidad Complutense de Madrid; UCM, Universidad de Madrid, Universidad Central de Madrid; Latin: Universitas Complutensis Matritensis) is a public research university located in Madrid. Founded in Alcalá in 1293 (before relocating to Madrid in 1836), it is one of the oldest operating universities in the world. It is located on a sprawling campus that occupies the entirety of the Ciudad Universitaria district of Madrid, with annexes in the district of Somosaguas in the neighboring city of Pozuelo de Alarcón. It is named after the ancient Roman settlement of Complutum, now an archeological site in Alcalá de Henares, just east of Madrid. It enrolls over 86,000 students, making it the eighth largest non-distance European university by enrollment. By Royal Decree of 1857, the Central University was the first and only institution in Spain authorized to grant doctorate degrees throughout the Spanish Empire. In 1909, the Central University became one of the first universities in the world to grant a doctorate degree to a woman. It was renamed as Universidad de Madrid ('University of Madrid') in 1943.
