Tammela, Tampere

Tammelantori is a market square in the Tammela district in the center of Tampere in Pirkanmaa, Finland. It is one of Tampere's most significant marketplaces, which is very popular, especially during the summer. The market is very famous for its cafes and mustamakkara kiosks.

Itsenäisyydenkatu (literally "Independence Street") is an east–west street in the center of Tampere, Finland. It is a significant street connection in the city center of Tampere in terms of transport connections, as it leads from Tampere's railway station to the Liisankallio district in the Tammela district. On the west side of the station, the street continues as the Hämeenkatu street, at its eastern end it meets Kalevan puistokatu, branching into Teiskontie and Sammonkatu. Today, the only crossroads on Itsenäisyydenkatu with cross-street vehicle traffic is Tammelan puistokatu–Yliopistonkatu. Itsenäisyydenkatu was known from the end of the 19th century until the 1950s as the Puolimatkankatu according to the croft named Puolimatka (literally "half way") located in the area. The impetus for renaming the street was the call made by the state to the cities in 1957 to name a significant street Itsenäisyydenkatu in honor of the 40th anniversary of Finland's independence. The name change took effect in 1958.In 2017, the renovation of the street and the station tunnel began, where the cross-section of the street will be renewed for a tramway to be built in Tampere. The former bus lanes were reserved for the local light rail network so that it runs west of the intersection of Tammelan puistokatu at the south side of the street and east of the intersection in the middle of the street; due to the arrangement, the southern surface of the station tunnel had to be lowered. A bike path was built on the northern edge of the street, and all the aged piping under the street was renewed. The renovation was completed in 2019, and tram traffic will begin in 2021.

Osmonmäki is a district in the center of Tampere, Finland. The immediate neighbors of the area are Tammela, Tampella, Lappi and Petsamo. There are apartment buildings in the area, but also hundred-year-old wooden buildings. In 2011, the district had 1,613 inhabitants.

Tullintori is a shopping center located in Tulli, Tampere, Finland. The largest of the two owners of the shopping center is Elo Mutual Pension Insurance Company, who own 97%. The shopping center contains around 50 shops and numerous cafés and restaurants and a recreational climbing area. The top floors are mainly office space. The annual number of visitors to the center is about 2,5 million. Architecturally, Tullintori is a traditional arcade, glass-covered “colonnade”. It was formed by combining SOK's functionalist building, completed in 1930, with a new extension. The Tullintori shopping center was completed in 1990. Tullintori is located right next to Tampere Central Station. Parking lots can be found on P-Tullintori and on the deck of Tullintori. The shopping center has access to Hotel Torni and Sokos Hotel Villa.

Tulli (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈtulːi]) is a district in the center of Tampere, Finland. It takes its name from the Customs House (Tullikamari) completed in 1901 and the associated Pakkahuone packing house. Due to the proximity of the railway yard, storage, office and production facilities were built in the area from the end of the 19th century. A town plan was established for the area in 1900.Tulli's area houses the premises of the University of Tampere, small industry, the Tullintori shopping center and, to an increasing extent, also settlements. The Customs House and Pakkahuone have restaurant and cultural activities. The northern boundary of Tulli is the Itsenäisyydenkatu street and in the north-south direction it is split by the Yliopistonkatu street. On the eastern edge of the district is the popular recreation area of the eastern center, the Sorsapuisto park, on the southern edge of which is the large concert and congress center, Tampere Hall, completed in 1990. In the western part of Tulli, on the edge of the railway yard and Ratapihankatu, is the tallest hotel building in both Tampere and Finland, Hotel Torni. A new high-rise building, the Tulli Tower (Tullin torni), is planned about 150 meters south of Hotel Torni.

Sorsapuisto (Finnish for "duck park") is a refreshment area of 4.2 hectares in Tulli, Tampere, Finland, completed in the 1930s. In 1990 the Tampere Hall was built in the south corner of the park and the whole park was renovated. From 1964 to 1972 the site of the Tampere Hall hosted the Tampere zoo featuring the lions Tam and Pere.

Tammelan Stadion is a football stadium in Tampere, Finland that is currently undergoing major renovation. It is the home ground for the Veikkausliiga club Ilves and the Kakkonen sides TPV and Tampere United. The Ilves women's team, which plays in the Naisten liiga, also uses the stadium. The new facility is expected to be available for the 2024 season.

The former Tammelan Stadion was a football stadium in Tampere, Finland. It was the home ground for football clubs Ilves and TPV and Tampere United. The old ground was in use between 1931 and 2020.

The Tampere Opera, established in 1946, is an opera house based in Tampere, Finland. The opera is run by guest artists. Their orchestra is the Tampere Filharmonia. The choir is composed of 80 singers and is led by Heikki Liimola. The first visit abroad of Tampere Opera was in 2005, when they visited the National Theatre in Prague.

The Tampere Hall (Finnish: Tampere-talo; Swedish: Tammerforshuset) is the largest congress centre in the Nordic countries, located in the southern edge of Sorsapuisto, in the centre of Tampere, Finland. It was inaugurated on September 29, 1990. Opposite of the Tampere Hall is the main building of the University of Tampere, and the Tampere railway station is only half a kilometre away. The seating capacity of the main auditorium is 1,756. Due to its central location, Tampere Hall hosts many small fairs and conventions, including the first ever Finncon in Tampere. The event with the largest number of visitors to Tampere Hall is Tracon, the annual role-playing and anime cosplay event. The Tampere Opera and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra are also based there.The managing director of the Tampere Hall is Paulina Ahokas. Kalervo Kummola served as the managing director from 2004 to 2011. Previous managing directors have included Carl Öhman, and Kaarina Suonio.As of the year 2012, the Tampere Hall has been nominated seven times as the best congress venue in Finland.

Erkkilän silta (the ″Erkkilä Bridge″) is a bridge located in the center of Tampere, Finland. It crosses the railway yard to the north of the Tampere Central Station, connecting the Jussinkylä and Tammela districts. The bridge is a type of steel tied-arch bridge, a combination of arch and beam bridge with a span of 42 meters. The stone ground supports of the bridge come from a bridge built in 1963 on the same site. The bridge was completed in 1983.In connection with the construction of the bridge, another old ground support was reinforced with drill piles. The bridge was renovated in 2005 by, among other things, renewing the waterproofing and coating of the bridge deck and painting the steel arches.

Hotel Torni Tampere is a 25-storey hotel in Tampere, Finland. It was completed in 2014. Hotel Torni Tampere is the tallest hotel building in Finland, and the second highest overall building in Finland after Majakka in Kalasatama, Helsinki. On the top floor of the hotel building is the Moro Sky Bar, which is the highest bar and terrace in all of Finland.
