West Side Avenue is a station on the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) in the West Side neighborhood in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. Located on the east side of West Side Avenue, the station is the terminal of the West Side Avenue branch of the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail, with service to Tonnelle Avenue station in North Bergen. The station consists of a single island platform and a pair of tracks that end at the station. The station contains a pedestrian bridge over West Side Avenue to a small parking lot and bus stop on the west side of the street. The station is accessible for handicapped people per the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, with an elevator in the pedestrian overpass and train-level platforms. West Side Avenue station opened on April 17, 2000 as part of the original operating segment of the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail.

This is in comparison to St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) which is considered the first parish in North America. It is one of over 200 Coptic Orthodox Churches in the United States. The Church belongs to Archdiocese of North America.

University Academy Charter High School (often abbreviated to UACHS) is a four-year comprehensive public charter high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Jersey City, in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The school opened in the 2002–03 school year and operates under the terms of a charter granted by the New Jersey Department of Education in 2001. Through its affiliation with New Jersey City University, students who graduate from the school with a grade point average of 3.8 or higher are eligible to receive a four-year scholarship to NJCU.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 439 students and 40.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.0:1. There were 234 students (53.3% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 43 (9.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

It is one of a number of high school programs serving students in ninth through twelfth grades offered by the school district. As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 312 students and 26.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.0:1. There were 177 students (56.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 12 (3.8% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Academy of the Arts at Henry Snyder High School is a four-year performing arts public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades, located in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of the Jersey City Public Schools. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1940.As of the 2020–21 school year, the school had an enrollment of 776 students and 61.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.7:1. There were 422 students (54.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 15 (1.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

On December 10, 2019, a shooting took place at a kosher grocery store in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey. Five people were killed at the store, including the two assailants, David N. Anderson and Francine Graham. Additionally, the assailants wounded one customer and two police officers. A Jersey City Police Department detective was also shot and killed by the assailants at a nearby cemetery just before the grocery store attack. Anderson, who had connections to extremist groups, had a history of posting antisemitic and anti-law enforcement messages on social media; New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal stated that evidence indicated that the attacks were acts of hate and domestic terrorism which were fueled by antisemitism and anti-police sentiment. Authorities believe that a much larger attack had been planned, but it was thwarted by the police detective's intervention at the cemetery. The shooting was part of a wave of violent attacks against Jews in the United States.

Sacred Heart Church is a historic church and former Roman Catholic parish church on MLK Drive at Bayview Avenue in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. It is within the Archdiocese of Newark.

The statue of Mary McLeod Bethune in Jersey City, New Jersey is located in the Greenville section. It honors the educator and civil rights leader Mary McLeod Bethune (1875 – 1955).It was dedicated on November 22, 2021 and marked the completion the namesake Bethune Park, which opened in August 2021, and is across the from the Bethune Center on Martin Luther King Drive. The bronze 9 feet (2.7 m) tall statue on a 2.5 feet (0.76 m) marble pedestal is inspired by Bethune in her late 20s to early 30s.The statue was designed by Alvin Petit who said of the work: “As a broader significance, this also plays a role in linking our City with a national movement to erect monuments that symbolize diversity and inclusiveness. This will be the first statue in Jersey City to honor the legacy of an African American woman.”The inscription reads: DR. MARY McCLEOD BETHUNE July 10, 1875 – May 18, 1955 EDUCATOR * STATEWOMEN * ACTIVIST * ENTREPRENEUR "If we have the courage and tenacity of our forebears who stood firmly like a rock against the lash of slavery, we shall find a way to do for our day what they did for theirs."

Jackson Hill is a neighborhood in the Bergen-Lafayette and Greenville sections of Jersey City, New Jersey. It is part of the city's Ward F. The neighborhood is situated on Bergen Hill (the lower end of the Hudson Palisades) which also lends its name to the Bergen Hill Historic District just north of Communipaw Avenue. The district has long been the heart of the African American community in Jersey City. Its name is in part inspired by Thomas and John Vreeland Jackson, brothers born in 1800 and 1803, who were freed slaves who bought land in current day Greenville in 1831 and in 1857 laid out Jackson Lane between their houses. In 1900, the former Jackson Lane became Winfield Avenue, the name it bears today. During the Civil War the Jackson property became a safe house and critical link of the Underground Railroad.Martin Luther King Drive was once called Jackson Avenue. with a short block not included in a street realignment still bearing the name. In 1976 it was renamed in honor of the slain civil right leader Martin Luther King, Jr., who had twice spoken in the city. At the time of the renaming there was discussion whether the street had originally been named for the Jackson brothers or for US President Andrew Jackson. A 1924 Jersey Journal newspaper article ascribes it to Jeremiah Jackson, a local landowner in the mid-19th century. Historically, the avenue was one of the city's major shopping districts. but went into decline. In 2011, the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency created Jackson Hill Main Street special improvement district along the commercial corridors of MLK Drive and its northern continuation, Monticello Avenue.Among the notable sites in the Jackson Hill are two listed on National Register of Historic Places, St. Patrick's Parish and Buildings and Ficken's Warehouse, both on Grand Street. Sacred Heart Church and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial are other area landmarks.

Martin Luther King Drive is a station of the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail in the Jackson Hill neighborhood of Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey. Located on the east side of Martin Luther King Drive (Hudson County Route 609, named for Martin Luther King Jr.) near the intersection with Virginia Avenue, the station is a two side platform, two track structure on the West Side Avenue branch of the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail. Train service through Martin Luther King Drive station goes from West Side Avenue in Jersey City to the Tonnelle Avenue station in North Bergen. The station is accessible for those with disabilities as part of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 with ramps to the train-level platform. Martin Luther King Drive station opened on April 17, 2000 along with the rest of the West Side Avenue branch as part of the original operating segment.
