The Basilica della Santa Casa (English: Basilica of the Holy House) is a Marian shrine in Loreto, in the Marches, Italy. The basilica is known for enshrining the house in which the Blessed Virgin Mary is believed by some Catholics to have lived. Pious legends claim the same house was flown over by angelic beings from Nazareth to Tersatto (Trsat in Croatia), then to Recanati, before arriving at the current site.The basilica is also known for enshrining the Madonna and Child image of "Our Lady of Loreto". Pope Benedict XV designated her under this title as patroness of air passengers and auspicious travel on 24 March 1920. Pope Pius XI granted a Canonical Coronation to the venerated image made of Cedar of Lebanon wood on 5 September 1922, replacing the original Marian image consumed in fire on 23 February 1921.

The Territorial Prelature of Loreto (Latin: Praelatura Territorialis ab Alma Domo Lauretana) is a Latin Church territorial prelature of the Catholic Church which was elevated to this status on 24 June 1965. The Holy House of Loreto is located in it. The metropolitan see is the Archdiocese of Ancona-Osimo and the rite is Latin (or Roman). It covers 17 square kilometers (6.6 sq mi) with an address at: Piazza della Madonna 1, 60025 Loreto [Ancona], Italia. The total population is 11,537 of which 96.2% are Catholic. Serving Loreto are two secular priests, 48 religious priests for a total 50. There is approximately one priest for every 222 persons.

The Potenza (Latin: Flosis) is a river in the province of Macerata in the Marche region of Italy. The source of the river is in the territory of Fiuminata. The source is located at an elevation of 800 metres (2,600 ft) on Monte Pennino. The river flows northeast through the communes of Pioraco, Castelraimondo, San Severino Marche, Macerata, Montelupone, Recanati and Potenza Picena. The river flows into the Adriatic Sea at Porto Recanati, after a course of some 95 kilometres (59 mi).

Hotel House is an apartment building in Porto Recanati, Italy, about 25 km from the regional capital Ancona. The building houses around 2,000 people (roughly 20% of the town's population) in 480 units.The building is diverse and swells significantly in size during the summer months; 90% of inhabitants are foreign, representing 40 different nationalities. 21.9% of Porto Recanati's population is foreign-born, the highest percentage in the region of Marche and among the highest in Italy.The building has a gritty reputation and is notorious locally as a magnet for crime and narcotics. In April 2018, police discovered human remains in a well near Hotel House during a drug investigation. The remains were found to belong to a teenager who disappeared in 2010; forensic evidence led authorities to her alleged boyfriend, a foreign-born Hotel House resident, but despite an investigation no charges were laid and the suspect's whereabouts are now unknown.

Potentia was a Roman town along the central Adriatic Italian coast, near the modern town of Porto Recanati, in the province of Macerata. Its original position was just north of the main Roman bed of the River Potenza (the ancient Flosis), which now flows more than 1 km (0.62 mi) to the north.

Castelfidardo (Marchigiano: Castello) is a town and comune in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region of central-eastern Italy. It is remembered for a Piedmontese victory over an army composed of foreign volunteers defending the Papal States, on September 18, 1860. The town's Museum of the Risorgimento, in the palazzo Mordini, commemorates the battle and places it in the wider context of the Risorgimento as a whole. It houses artifacts and documents of the period, including around 130 loans from private collections or other museums. In addition, Castelfidardo is home to a number of Renaissance-era buildings, including 'il Palombarone` a 1580 construction which underwent extensive renovations in the early 21st century.

The Battle of Castelfidardo took place on 18 September 1860 at Castelfidardo, a small town in the Marche region of Italy. It was fought between the Royal Sardinian Army – acting as the driving force in the war for Italian unification, against the Papal States.

Monte Conero (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmonte ˈkɔːnero]) or Mount Conero, also known as Monte d'Ancona (Mount of Ancona), is a promontory in Italy, situated directly south of the port of Ancona on the Adriatic Sea. The name Conero comes from the Greek name Κόμαρος (Kómaros) and indicates the strawberry tree which is common on the slopes of the mountain. Mount Conero is 572 metres high and it is the only coastal high point on the Adriatic sea between Trieste and the Gargano massif in the region of Apulia. Since 1987 it has been a state park and a protected ecological area (Regional Park) with 18 trails and several archeological/historical sites. Wildlife include Eurasian badger, beech marten, least weasel, yellow-bellied toad, peregrine falcon, kingfisher and pallid swift. Apart the strawberry tree, vegetation include oak, holm oak, Aleppo pine, Cupressus sempervirens and many others. Other comuni near the mountain include Sirolo and Numana.
