Letcombe Valley is a 7.5-hectare (19-acre) nature reserve south of Letcombe Regis in Oxfordshire. It is managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT), with the assistance of the Friends of Letcombe Valley.The reserve was part of a manor formerly known as Benhams, which was purchased in 1851 by a racehorse owner called Thomas Parr. After the Second World War, the manor became a centre for scientific research, which was acquired in 1985 by a chemical company, Dow Elanco. The company created a nature reserve on land next to Letcombe Brook, and when the research centre closed in 2002 the main part of the site was developed for housing. BBOWT was given a fifty-year lease on the nature reserve in 2010 as a condition of planning permission for the housing.Letcombe Brook, which runs through the reserve, is one of only two chalk streams in Oxfordshire and 161 nationwide. Wildlife includes water voles and fish such as bullhead, brown trout and the primitive brook lamprey. There are also Daubenton's bats, while insects include rare flies. Additional habitats are ancient woodland and a small area of chalk grassland.There is access from a bridleway at the top of South Street.

Letcombe Bassett is a village and civil parish about 2 miles (3 km) southwest of the market town of Wantage in the Vale of White Horse. It was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred the Vale of White Horse to Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 148. The village is a spring line settlement, being the source of Letcombe Brook at the foot of the Berkshire Downs escarpment. Hackpen, Warren & Gramp's Hill Downs Site of Special Scientific Interest is in the parish.

Letcombe Regis is a village and civil parish in the Vale of White Horse. It was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred the Vale of White Horse to Oxfordshire. The village is on Letcombe Brook at the foot of the Berkshire Downs escarpment about 1 mile (1.6 km) southwest of the market town of Wantage. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 578.

Letcombe Brook is a 7.5-mile (12 km) stream in the Vale of White Horse in Oxfordshire, England. It rises at the foot of the Berkshire Downs in Letcombe Bassett and flows through Letcombe Regis, Wantage, Grove and East Hanney to join Childrey Brook, which is a tributary of the River Ock, which is a tributary of the River Thames. Letcombe Brook is a chalk stream, which is globally rare. Development, agriculture and water demand have degraded its habitats, but its water is now cleaner than for many years, and it supports a rich diversity of wildlife, including water voles, bullheads and brook lampreys, which are protected species.The Letcombe Brook Charitable Trust was established as a memorial to the poet Sir John Betjeman, who lived in the area for many years. In 1972, the year he was appointed Poet Laureate, he wrote the poem "On Leaving Wantage", which begins "I like the ways these old brick garden walls run unevenly down to Letcombe Brook".The brook runs through the Letcombe Valley a 7.5-hectare (19-acre) nature reserve near Letcombe Regis which was opened in 2010. The Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust has been given a 50-year lease and a grant of £230,000 to manage the site as a nature reserve by a local developer.

Reed Hill is a 14-hectare (35-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) west of Stonesfield in Oxfordshire. It partly overlaps Stonesfield Slate Mines SSSI. This sheltered dry valley has unimproved limestone grassland, secondary woodland and scrub. A spring at the northern end makes the ground there seasonally damp. Invertebrates include the small blue, Duke of Burgundy and dark green fritillary butterflies, the small shield bug Neotti-glossa pusilla, the beetle Oedemera lurida and the spider Hypsosinga pygmaea.

Wantage Town Football Club is a football club based in Wantage, Oxfordshire that currently play in the Hellenic League Premier Division. The club is affiliated to the Berks & Bucks Football Association.

Vicarage Hill is a cricket ground located in East Challow, Oxfordshire. Situated on the site of a park which has been in existence since the 1890s, the ground is surrounded to the west by the road from which it gets its name, to the south by the Ickleton Road and to the north and east by farmland. Oxfordshire first used the ground in the 1993 Minor Counties Championship against Wiltshire, playing a single Minor Counties Championship match in their season, with the exception of 1997, when two matches were played there. No Minor Counties Championship match was played there in 1998, but the ground did hold its first MCCA Knockout Trophy matches in that season when Oxfordshire played the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board, Norfolk and Shropshire. The ground held a single Minor Counties Championship match in 1999, before hosting the Kent Cricket Board in an MCCA Knockout Trophy match the following season. The only List A match to be played there was played in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy between Oxfordshire and Huntingdonshire. Huntingdonshire made 252/5 from their 50 overs, with Wayne Larkins top-scoring with 73. Oxfordshire were dismissed for 175 in their chase to lose the match by 77 runs. Since 2001, the ground has played host to one Minor Counties Championship match each season, as well as several MCCA Knockout Trophy matches since 2000. The ground is home to Challow & Childrey Cricket Club.

Historically it was part of the ecclesiastical parish of Letcombe Regis, but since 1852 East and West Challow have formed their own single ecclesiastical parish. The civil parish was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes transferred the Vale of White Horse to Oxfordshire.

King Alfred's Academy is a Secondary school in Wantage, Oxfordshire, recognised as an Academy. It is named after King Alfred the Great, who ruled Wessex from 871 to 899 and was born in Wantage in 849 AD. The school has approximately 140 teachers and 1,800 students spread across two sites.

The Vale and Downland Museum is a local history museum in the market town of Wantage, Oxfordshire, England. Often described as a hidden gem the museum is housed in the 'Old Surgery', Church Street, in the centre of the town, opposite the Church of St Peter and St Paul Its galleries present the cultural heritage of the Vale of White Horse region around Wantage. They have a Victorian kitchen, Iron Age skeleton, a life sized bronze statue of Wantage born Lester Piggott, a bust of Sir John Betjeman, Williams F1 display and lots more. The museum is a community hub which has many things to offer the community. A programme of adult talks, a research library, a monthly book group, monthly music sessions for pre-schoolers as well as themed family days throughout the school holidays There is a cafe and admission to the museum is free.
