Camerino is a town in the province of Macerata, Marche, central-eastern Italy. It is located in the Apennines bordering Umbria, between the valleys of the rivers Potenza and Chienti, about 64 kilometres (40 mi) from Ancona. Camerino is home to the University of Camerino, founded in the Middle Ages.

The Battle of Camerinum in 298 BC took place during the Third Samnite War. In the battle, the Samnites defeated a Roman legion under the command of the propraetor Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus.

The Orto Botanico dell'Università di Camerino, also known as the Orto Botanico di Camerino, is a nearly 1 hectare (2.5 acres) botanical garden operated by the University of Camerino, and located at Viale Oberdan 2, Camerino, Province of Macerata, Marche, Italy. The garden was established in 1828 by Vincenzo Ottaviani, from 1826-1841 papal physician and professor of botany and chemistry. It is divided into two main parts: a flat area with shrubs and herbaceous species, and a slope with many trees and ferns.

The University of Camerino (Italian: Università degli Studi di Camerino) is a university located in Camerino, Italy. It is the best university of Italy among those with fewer than 10,000 students, according to the Guida Censis Repubblica 2011 and 2012 ranking. It claims to have been founded in 1337 and was officially recognized by the Pope in 1723. It is organized into five faculties.

The Italian Archdiocese of Camerino-San Severino Marche (Latin: Archidioecesis Camerinensis-Sancti Severini in Piceno) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church seated in Camerino, a city in the Province of Macerata, in the central Italian Marche region, in the Apennines. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Fermo. In 1986 the historical archdiocese of Camerino, an archdiocese since 1787, was united with the diocese of San Severino.

San Filippo Neri is a Baroque style Roman Catholic church in Camerino, in the province of Macerata, region of Marche, Italy. The church was commissioned by the Oratorians and erected in 1733 by the architects Pietro Loni and Domenico Cipriani. The oval interior layout has three chapels. The second chapel to the right of the main altar once housed a Madonna in Glory with St Phillip (circa 1740), by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, now move to Diocesan Museum. The church also houses a Crucifixion (1454) and Annunciation by Girolamo di Giovanni.

The Arboretum Apenninicum (9 hectares) is an arboretum operated by the University of Camerino, and located in Tuseggia, Camerino, Province of Macerata, Marche, Italy. The arboretum was established in 1990 in an agricultural area, and is currently being developed with a primary emphasis on the woody plants of central Italy, though exotics are also being cultivated. Its collection includes Abies alba, Acer campestre, Ailanthus altissima, Carpinus betulus, Castanea sativa, Corylus avellana, Crataegus monogyna, Juglans regia, Populus tremula, Prunus spinosa, Quercus pubescens, Robinia pseudoacacia, and Spartium junceum.
