Somerset is an incorporated town in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located near its border with Washington, D.C. The population was 1,216 at the 2010 census. Somerset has no relationship to Somerset County, some 150 miles distant.

The Salmon-Stohlman House, also known as Clover Crest, is a historic home located at Somerset, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a 2+1⁄2-story, frame structure built about 1893, and designed in a transitional manner with late Victorian detailing. It was one of the first houses built in the present day Town of Somerset by Dr. Daniel Salmon, a leading veterinarian at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and one of the original developers of the suburban property.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.Victoria Clarke is a former resident of the Salmon-Stohlman House.

The Willoughby of Chevy Chase is a large high-rise condominium building in Montgomery County, Maryland, on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. It was originally designed by award-winning, modernist architect Vlastimil Koubek and opened in 1969 as the Willoughby Apartments. The Willoughby Apartments was built for luxury rentals, and when it opened, it was the largest residential building in the DC area.The Willoughby project was built in 1965 by Washington developer Milton A. Barlow, however the firm ran out of funds and the completion of the building was taken over by the loan financier, Riggs National Bank. The Willoughby Apartments changed ownership several times and, ultimately, was sold to First Condominium Development Company of Chicago, specialists in condominium conversions. Apartment sales and control of the condominium turned over to unit owners in 1982.There are 815 units including efficiencies, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, commercial office space, a convenience store, 701 parking garage spaces, and a restaurant. The building was built with many luxury amenities: an exercise room, 24-hour staffed desk, laundry rooms, library, party room, rooftop lounge, and pool. Bylaws prohibit pets and were recently amended to restrict smoking.

Friendship Heights Village is an urbanized, unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. Friendship Heights Village is distinct from the Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Friendship Heights). The population was 5,360 at the 2020 census.

Willoughby Park is a city park in Friendship Heights, an incorporated area on the edge of Washington, D.C. Named after the adjacent Willoughby Condominium Building, it is at the intersection of Willard Ave and Friendship Boulevard. It is served by the Friendship Heights metro and bus station of the Washington Metro, which is located two blocks from the park. Designed by Robert (Bob) Good, of Stephenson & Good Landscape Architecture, The park is characterized by its location in the midst of high-rise luxury condominium buildings. While there is some traffic noise, the park is generally quiet with few users. Sharing the intersection is a Chipotle Restaurant, the edge of the Geico Corporate campus, and another park directly across the street.

The Shops at Wisconsin Place is an open-air shopping center that is part of the mixed-use Wisconsin Place complex, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, located on the site of a former Woodward & Lothrop department store, which was converted to Hecht's in 1995 and closed in 2005. The Shops are anchored by Maryland's second Bloomingdale's, which opened on September 27, 2007, and Whole Foods Market, which opened on May 18, 2010. P.F. Chang's, Talbots, Cole Haan, Anthropologie, Eileen Fisher, BCBG, MAC, The Capital Grille, Sephora, J. Jill, Ilori, Adolfo Dominguez, Le Pain Quotidien, and Giggle are now open. There is a three-story underground parking garage located beneath the shopping center. A 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) county-run recreation and community center opened in Wisconsin Place in late September 2009. In addition to the Shops, parking, and the recreation center, Wisconsin Place includes a high-rise luxury apartment building and office space partially occupied by Microsoft.

Drummond is a village and special taxing district in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The village was founded in 1903 and officially chartered in 1916. Approximately one-third mile long, the village consists of Drummond Avenue between Wisconsin Avenue and Little Falls Stream Valley Park.The population was 120 as of 1990. There are 43 homes in the village.The village is governed by a three-member Citizens' Committee.

The Belmont property was a subdivided strip of land on the eastern side of Chevy Chase, Maryland, along Wisconsin Avenue. In 1906, a group of African American investors acquired the parcel and sold lots to other African Americans, in an effort to develop a high-end suburb for D.C.'s sizable Black middle class. Had the project succeeded, it would have been one of the earliest modern suburbs developed for African Americans. The scheme met hostility from white residents of Friendship Heights, Somerset, and Drummond. Ultimately, the landowner who had assembled the plot, the Chevy Chase Land Company, was able to prevent the African American group from conveying the land to their purchasers, triggering their financial collapse and foreclosure in 1909. In 1926, Land Company executives had the subdivision extinguished from the property books of Montgomery County, Maryland. They incorporated part of the land into Chevy Chase Section 1A. The remaining portion, immediately abutting Wisconsin Avenue was redeveloped decades later as a Saks Fifth Avenue, 2 Wisconsin Circle, and a shopping center called The Collection at Chevy Chase.

The Writer's Center, founded in 1976, is an independent literary center that is housed in a 12,200-square-foot (1,130 m2) facility in the arts and entertainment district of Bethesda, Maryland. The organization consists of approximately 2,500 writers, editors, small press publishers and other artists who support each other in the creation and marketing of literary texts. The Writer's Center offers workshops, hosts readings and literary events, and maintains a community of writers, workshop leaders, publishers and audiences for contemporary writing at its Bethesda headquarters as well as in Leesburg, Virginia, Arlington, Virginia, and at other locations around the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.The Writer's Center also publishes Poet Lore, the longest continuously running poetry journal in the United States.The Writer's Center annually conducts hundreds of workshops in various genres of writing. Workshop participants share with one another their work-in-progress under the guidance of an experienced instructor who is also a published author.The Writer's Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Writer's Center is supported in part by The Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Maryland, and by grants from organizations including the Maryland State Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Writer's Center also hosts literary events, readings and conferences; sells books and literary magazines; and offers an environment for writing groups to meet. It is a voluntary, membership organization open to all skill levels.

The town is the wealthiest in Maryland, with a median income of over $250,000, the highest income bracket listed by the census bureau, and a median home value of $1,823,800.Chevy Chase Village includes 721 homes. It is known for its speed limit enforcement actions, which produce 24% of its annual revenue.The suburb was created to be all-white; it remains overwhelmingly so more than a century later.Chevy Chase Village is the location of the Chevy Chase Club, a private country club with an initiation fee of over $50,000.
