Pelham station

The village of Pelham is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 6,910 at the 2010 census. It is located in the town of Pelham, which is colloquially referred to as Pelham.

Pelham is a suburban town in Westchester County, approximately 10 miles northeast of Midtown Manhattan. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 12,511, a 0.96% increase from the 2010 census. Historically, Pelham was composed of five villages and became known as "the Pelhams". Pelham currently contains two independently incorporated villages: the Villages of Pelham and Pelham Manor.Approximately 28 minutes away from Grand Central Terminal by the Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line, Pelham is home to many New York City commuters and has an active social community for its residents. The Bronx–Whitestone Bridge is approximately 8.5 miles (14 km) south of the town. It is also 13 miles (21 km) northeast of LaGuardia Airport and 19.5 miles (31 km) north of John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The Picture House Regional Film Center, formerly known as the "Pelham Picture House", is a historic movie theater located at Pelham, Westchester County, New York. The rectangular building was built in 1921, in the Spanish Revival style and is oriented at an angle at the northwest corner of Wolf's Lane and Brookside Avenue. It features angled end bays, a distinctive round arched entrance, tiled hoods over the large windows on the end bays, and a wood open truss ceiling in the auditorium. The building typifies early 20th century commercial architecture of New York City commuter suburbs with its eclectic style reflective of the Mission style.The theater was privately owned until it was put up for sale in 2003. Fearing that the historic building would be torn down, concerned Westchester citizens formed a nonprofit (originally Pelham Picture House Preservation, the name was changed to The Picture House Regional Film Center in 2005) and bought the building. The Picture House operates with film and education programming at the 175 Wolfs Lane location and in area schools. The theater also hosts birthday parties.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Willson's Woods Park is a park located in Mount Vernon, New York. The Park is owned by Westchester County and operated by its Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. Acquired in 1924, Willson's Woods is one of the oldest parks in the County's parks system. The Park was named for the former owner of the land, Charles Hill Willson of the Willson & Adams Lumber Company. The park is flanked to the east by the Hutchinson River Parkway and by Pelham Lake. It was built with the northern entrance passing under the now defunct New York, Westchester and Boston Railway line, and the southern under the still working New Haven Line. Consisting of twenty-three acres, the Park contains amenities and facilities for a variety of activities, including birding, fishing, walking, ice skating, picnicking, and swimming. In 2010, Willson's Woods received the highest inspection scores out of all the county's active parks. Willson's Woods Park contains all of Pelham Lake, the only lake in the city of Mt. Vernon. More than 50 species of birds have been seen at Willson's Woods. The most common as of 5 January 2021 are Mallards. However more Canada Geese have been seen than any other bird in the past. Up to 250 geese have been seen in one flock. A resident Pekin lived at the park from sometime before July 2020 until September 2020.

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) is a US nonprofit organization conducting research into and applying music therapy. It is located in Mount Vernon, New York.

The Pelham Memorial High School is the only high school within the town of Pelham, New York, United States. It is part of the Pelham Union Free School District. A small portion of land that is between Pelham and Pelham Bay Park, with a total of 35 houses, is a part of the Bronx, but is cut off from the rest of the borough due to the way the county boundaries were established. The New York City government pays for the residents' children to go to Pelham Union Free School District schools, including Pelham Memorial High School, since that is more cost effective than sending school buses to take the students to New York City schools. This arrangement has been in place since 1948. As of 1997 one student at Pelham Memorial lived in this section, and New York City paid Pelham School District $15,892.86 per year for that student.

Pelhamdale, also known as The Old Stone House of Philip Pell II, is a historic home located in Pelham Manor, Westchester County, New York. It was built about 1750 as a single story dwelling and expanded after 1823. It is a two-story, five bay, stone residence faced in coursed, rock-faced stone ranging in color from muted orange and red, to gray. It has white native sandstone Doric order columns on the front porch, lintels and sills, and a plain brick entablature. It features two 2-story bay windows flanking the main entrance. Philip Pell II was a grandson of Thomas Pell (1608–1669).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Beechwoods Cemetery is a non-denominational cemetery located in New Rochelle, New York. The cemetery was incorporated in 1854.

Mount Vernon High School (MVHS) is a public high school in the Chester Heights section of the City of Mount Vernon in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is part of the Mount Vernon City School District. The current Mount Vernon High School came into existence from the merger of the former A.B. Davis High School and Edison Tech in 1964.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is a Catholic cemetery in New Rochelle in Westchester County, New York. The cemetery is maintained by the Blessed Sacrament Church, whose pastor, Father McLoughlin, established it in 1886.Holy Sepulchre Cemetery is the resting place of notables including Eddie Foy and his family of famous Vaudeville actors and actresses, memorialized in the 1955 film The Seven Little Foys.

The Marble Schoolhouse is a Greek Revival style schoolhouse in Eastchester, New York that was built in 1835. The stone of its facade was quarried in nearby Tuckahoe, New York. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.The building was moved to its current location in 1869.The schoolhouse features exhibits of local history and is open by appointment with the Eastchester Historical Society.

The September 2013 New Haven Line power outage was an unplanned electrical power outage that impacted service on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line for twelve days in 2013. On September 25, 2013, a 138-kV main feeder cable from Con Edison that provided electricity to an AC catenary-powered 8-mile (13 km) segment of the New Haven Line failed, causing electric train service over the line to halt between Mount Vernon, New York and Harrison, New York.
