Calwood is an unincorporated community in Callaway County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies at the intersection of Missouri Routes JJ and Z approximately one mile south of I-70. Fulton is about six miles to the southwest on Route Z. Auxvasse Creek flows past approximately one mile to the northeast.

The Battle of Moore's Mill was an American Civil War battle that took place in Central Missouri on July 28, 1862 along Auxvasse Creek near modern-day Calwood. This engagement, the Battle of Kirksville a week later, and the Battle of Compton's Ferry would drive the main Southern recruiters from northern Missouri. The Moore's Mill Battlefield was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

Callaway County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 United States Census, the county's population was 44,283. Its county seat is Fulton. With a border formed by the Missouri River, the county was organized November 25, 1820, and named for Captain James Callaway, grandson of Daniel Boone. The county has been historically referred to as "The Kingdom of Callaway" after an incident in which some residents confronted Union troops during the U.S. Civil War.Callaway County is part of the Jefferson City, Missouri, Metropolitan Statistical Area. Vineyards and wineries were first established in the area by German immigrants in the mid-19th century. Among the first mentioned in county histories are those around the southeastern Callaway settlement of Heilburn, a community neighboring Portland, on the Missouri River. Since the 1960s, there has been a revival of winemaking there and throughout Missouri. The Callaway Nuclear Generating Station is located in Callaway County, near Fulton.

The Brandon-Bell-Collier House is a house in Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri, in the state of Missouri in the central United States. It was built in stages between about 1862 and 1917. From 1900 to 1902, it was owned by Fulton architect Morris Frederick Bell, who undertook a major remodelling, expanding the house to two stories and incorporating elements of the Queen Anne and Colonial Revival architectural styles.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It is located in the Court Street Historic Residential District.

William Woods University is a private university in Fulton, Missouri. Founded in 1870, the university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Expanding its mission to address the need for graduate and adult-oriented programs, the institution became known as William Woods University in 1993. It began offering graduate degrees and admitting men as well as women into all of its programs. It enrolled 1,681 students in 2021.

Missouri School for the Deaf (MSD) is a school that serves deaf and hard-of-hearing students from ages 5–21 years old. Its campus is located in Fulton, Missouri. It serves students who live in Missouri. It has grades K-12 and it was established in 1851. The internal academic divisions are: Stark Elementary School, Wheeler Middle School, and Wheeler High School. In 1997 its enrollment was about 65–70, with about 33% having additional disabilities.

Callaway is an unincorporated community in Callaway County, Missouri. The community was located approximately two miles south of Kingdom City and just west of U.S. Route 54. The site was on the Chicago and Alton Railroad and on the north bank of Richland Creek.

Court Street Historic Residential District is a national historic district located at Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri. It encompasses 84 contributing buildings in a predominantly residential section of Fulton. It developed between about 1844 and 1945, and includes representative examples of Queen Anne, Second Empire, Colonial Revival, American Foursquare, and Bungalow style architecture. Some of the buildings were designed by noted local architect Morris Frederick Bell. Located in the district is the separately listed Brandon-Bell-Collier House. Other notable buildings include the John W. Tucker Residence (1912), Klinginsmith Residence (c. 1900), Synodical College-Seminole Apartments (c. 1900/1930), Synodical College Dormitory-Seminole Apartments (1913), Gish Residence (c. 1950), Dave and Ida McCue House (c. 1910), First Presbyterian Church (c. 1885), Leland Waters Residence (c. 1923), Bauer House (c. 1883), and Martin-Harris House (c. 1843, 1866).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

KTGR-FM (100.5 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a sports format known as "KTGR 100.5". KTGR-FM is licensed to Fulton, Missouri and serves the eastern sections of the Columbia, Missouri market. The station is currently owned by Zimmer Radio, and features local St. Louis Cardinals baseball coverage and programming from ESPN Radio. In its early history, KTGR-FM was KKCA 97.7 FM transmitting with 3,000 watts from Fulton, Missouri and featuring a mixed format of Top 40, pop, rock and adult contemporary music for its first 25 years or so, including everyone's favorite "Tradio", Fulton Hornets High School Play by Play, ABC radio news and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Early 1980's radio hosts included Tom Harris, Dan Baetty, Jeff Johnson, and others. Eventually KKCA relocated to 100.5 FM for a power upgrade to 6,000 watts and changed its on air programming to an automated oldies format before beginning the all sports format when the call letters were changed to KTGR-FM, with a feed of the sports programming from a low power AM station, KTGR-AM 1580 in Columbia.
