Fossombrone Cathedral

The Ponte della Concordia is a bridge over the river Metauro in Fossombrone, Province of Pesaro and Urbino, region of Marche, Italy. The original bridge was built in the second half of the 13th century, and it had five arches. It was destroyed by a flood of the river Metauro in 1765. In 1782 an architect from Pesaro, Luigi Baldelli, designed a new bridge, this time with just a single arche donkey-back (on the model of "devil's bridges" of medieval tradition), to avoid future flooding problems. In 1944, during World War II, German soldiers destroyed the bridge by setting up mines, in hopes of slowing down the incoming allied forces. The bridge existing today was rebuilt in 1946, in the same place and with the same architecture as the previous bridge.

Sant'Agostino is a Romanesque-style Roman Catholic church in central Fossombrone, region of Marche, Italy. The church was erected in the 14th century, and the facade still has the elements of late Romanesque architecture. The church was however refurbished in neoclassical style by Camillo Morigia in the early 1800s. The facade has the coat of arms of the Malatesta and a mortar and pestle insignia of a guild. The interior has a main altarpiece of a Nativity by Federico Zuccari. In addition, there is a Madonna and child with Saints by Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri in the second altar on the left. The church also has wooden icons of St Augustine and Santa Monica from the 17th century.

San Filippo is a Baroque-style Roman Catholic former church, now deconsecrated, located Corso Garibaldi, near Porta Fano, in Fossombrone, region of Marche, Italy. The church was erected between 1608 and 1613; and dedicated to the patron saints of the town. It had been commissioned earlier to celebrate the birth of the ill-fated Federico Ubaldo, son and heir of the Duke Francesco Maria II Della Rovere. But it was ceded soon to the Order of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri, although they did not have a formal charter in the town till 1620. The brick facade is incomplete and in 2015 appears nearly decrepit, with closed windows; however, under the Oratorians, the interior of the church was decorated with an exuberant, nearly rococo stucco decoration, completed in part by Tommaso Amantini. Decoration continued till consecration in 1726. The interior has a number of paintings by Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri, including a Madonna with the Five Patron Saints of Pesaro offering her the Planned Church, a St Michael Archangel and the Trinity, a St Barnaba Praying. The church also has a St John the Baptist painted by Carlo Ridolfi, and works by Francesco Gessi, Lazzaro Baldi, Giovanni Diamantini, and Giovanni Lapis. The church is now used for concerts and cultural events.

Isola del Piano borders the following municipalities: Fossombrone, Montefelcino, Urbino.

The Candigliano is a river in the Marche and Umbria regions of Italy. Its source is in the Appennino Umbro-Marchigiano mountains in the province of Pesaro e Urbino near the border with the province of Perugia. The river flows east and forms the border between Pesaro e Urbino and Perugia for a short distance south of Mercatello sul Metauro before entering Pesaro e Urbino. It then continues flowing east past an exclave called Monte Ruperto belonging to Città di Castello and then past Piobbico, where it is joined by the Biscubio. The river is joined by the Burano at Acqualagna and flows northeast near the Furlo Pass until it joins the Metauro west of Fossombrone.

The Furlo Pass (Italian: Gola del Furlo or Passo del Furlo) is a gorge on the ancient Roman road Via Flaminia in the Marche region of central Italy, where it passes near the Candigliano river, a tributary of the Metauro. The gorge was formed between the Pietralata (889 m) and Paganuccio (976 m) mountains by the river Candigliano, which whooshed in full spate through the district until it was dammed in 1922. Since 2001 it has been included in a State Natural Reserve of the same name. It is often marketed to tourists in the region as the "Grand Canyon of Italy." The Roman emperor Vespasian had a tunnel built here to facilitate passage on the Via Flaminia at the narrowest point of the gorge (hence the name, from the Latina forulum, meaning "small hole"). Next to it is a similar but smaller tunnel dating from Etruscan times. The tunnel has a length of 38.30 meters and a height of 5.95 meters. During the Gothic Wars (6th century), the Ostrogoth King Totila had the pass fortified, but his troops were ousted by the Roman general Belisarius. The Lombards conquered the pass between 570 and 578, and destroyed the fortifications. In the following centuries Via Flaminia was nearly abandoned. In 1502 Lucrezia Borgia used it on a journey to Ferrara and in 1506 Julius II took the road on his way to Bologna. In the beginning of the 18th century the transit remained difficult and dangerous, and only in 1776 was the tunnel and the road re-opened. Between May 23 and June 12, 1849, soldiers of the Roman Republic, commanded by Colonel L. Pianciani, fought a skirmish in the pass with the Austrian army. During the Second World War, the Gorge experienced moments of tension, but it was not the scene of fierce clashes. The seventies saw increasing destruction of the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, as well as the deterioration of the road, due to the intense activity in quarries located within the Gorge. In the 1930s, a profile of Benito Mussolini was sculpted on the slopes of Mount Pietralata by a local branch of the Guardia Forestale (State Forestry Corps), which was destroyed by partisans during World War II. In the 1980s, traffic in the Furlo tunnel was bypassed by the construction of two highway tunnels.

Cartoceto is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region Marche, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Ancona and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) south of Pesaro.

Colli all Metauro is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region Marche. It was created on 1 January 2017 after the merger of the comuni of Montemaggiore al Metauro, Saltara and Serrungarina. The communal seat is at Calcinelli, its largest frazione.

Pergola is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region Marche. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").The Gilt Bronzes of Cartoceto di Pergola were discovered in the communal territory in 1946. They are now exhibited in a museum at Pergola.
