South Platte River

The North Platte River is a major tributary of the Platte River and is approximately 716 miles (1,152 km) long, counting its many curves. In a straight line, it travels about 550 miles (890 km), along its course through the U.S. states of Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. The head of the river is essentially all of Jackson County, Colorado, whose boundaries are the continental divide on the west and south and the mountain drainage peaks on the east—the north boundary is the state of Wyoming border. The rugged Rocky Mountains surrounding Jackson County have at least twelve peaks over 11,000 feet (3,400 m) in height. From Jackson County the river flows north about 200 miles (320 km) out of the Routt National Forest and North Park (Colorado basin) near what is now Walden, Colorado, to Casper, Wyoming. Shortly after passing Casper, the river turns to the east-southeast and flows about 350 miles (560 km) to the city of North Platte, Nebraska. The North Platte and South Platte River join to form the Platte River in western Nebraska near the city of North Platte, Nebraska. The Platte River flows to the Missouri River, which joins the Mississippi River to flow to the Gulf of Mexico. The river provides the major avenue of drainage for northern Colorado, eastern Wyoming and western Nebraska. It is only navigable over most of its length at high water by canoes, kayaks and rubber rafts.

North Platte Regional Airport (IATA: LBF, ICAO: KLBF, FAA LID: LBF) (Lee Bird Field) is a public airport three miles east of North Platte, in Lincoln County, Nebraska. It is owned by the North Platte Airport Authority and sees one airline, subsidized by the Essential Air Service program. The Federal Aviation Administration says the airport had 10,288 passenger enplanements in calendar year 2008, 7,924 in 2009 and 8,391 in 2010. It is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2019–2023, in which it is categorized as a regional primary commercial service facility.

St. Patrick High School is a Roman Catholic high school in the city of North Platte, in the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Grand Island. St. Patrick High School is part of North Platte Catholic Schools, which also includes McDaid Elementary and Little Leprechaun Pre-School.

Fox Theatre, also known as the Neville Center For The Performing Arts, is a historic building in North Platte, Nebraska. It was built in 1929 by Alex Beck for the North Platte Realty Company, headed by Beck and Keith Neville, and it was designed by architect F. A. Henninger. Neville had served as the 18th governor of Nebraska from 1917 to 1919. The building was acquired by the North Platte Community Playhouse in 1980. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 9, 1985.

Hotel Yancey, also known as Hotel Pawnee, is a historic building in North Platte, Nebraska. It was built in 1929 by Alex Beck for the North Platte Realty Company, headed by Beck and Keith Neville, together with investor William Yancey, the owner of Hotel Yancey in Grand Island. Neville had served as the 18th governor of Nebraska from 1917 to 1919. The building was designed in the Colonial Revival and Georgian Revival styles by architect F.A. Henninger. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 9, 1985.

The North Platte Canteen (also known as the Service Men's Canteen in the Union Pacific Railroad station at North Platte) was a railroad stop served by local citizens of North Platte, Nebraska, United States, that operated from Christmas Day 1941 to April 1, 1946. Located along the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad, its purpose was to provide refreshments and hospitality to soldiers who were traveling through the area on the way to war during their ten- to fifteen-minute stopovers. During its run, nearly 55,000 Nebraska women served almost seven million soldiers on their way to fight in World War II.

The Lincoln County Courthouse is a historic two-story building in North Platte, Nebraska, and the courthouse of Lincoln County, Nebraska. It was built in 1921–1924, and again in 1931–1932, by H.R. McMichael. The building was designed in the Classical Revival and Beaux-Arts styles by architects George A. Berlinghof and Cecil Calvert Coursey. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 10, 1990.

North Platte is a city in and the county seat of Lincoln County, Nebraska, United States. It is located in the west-central part of the state, along Interstate 80, at the confluence of the North and South Platte Rivers forming the Platte River. The population was 23,390 at the 2020 census, making it the 11th most populous city in Nebraska. North Platte is a railroad town; Union Pacific Railroad's large Bailey Yard is located within the city. Today, North Platte is served only by freight trains, but during World War II the city was known for the North Platte Canteen, a volunteer organization serving food to millions of traveling soldiers. North Platte is the principal city of the North Platte Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Lincoln, Logan, and McPherson counties.

The North Platte U.S. Post Office and Federal Building is a historic three-story building in North Platte, Nebraska. It was built in 1913, and designed in the Renaissance Revival style by architect James Knox Taylor. Its front facade has a central entrance under a brick segmented arch. The post office was relocated in 1964 when a new Federal building was constructed, and the building was then to be used by a community college. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since March 4, 2009.

Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2020 census, the population was 34,676. Its county seat is North Platte. Despite the county's name, the state capital city of Lincoln is not in or near Lincoln County. Lincoln County is one of the three counties in the North Platte Micropolitan Statistical Area. In the Nebraska license plate system, Lincoln County is represented by the prefix 15 (it had the fifteenth-largest number of vehicles registered for a state county when the license plate system was established in 1922).

North Platte High School (NPHS) is a public high school in North Platte, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the North Platte Public Schools district.

KNPQ (107.3 FM) is a radio station licensed to Hershey, Nebraska, United States, the station serves the North Platte area. The station is currently owned by Eagle Communications. The station has obtained a construction permit from the FCC for a power increase to 100,000 watts. On December 28, 2020, KNPQ shifted its format to classic country, branded as "Q Country Legends 107.3".
