The Samuel Pleasants Parsons House is a historic dwelling located at 601 Spring Street in Richmond, Virginia. It is best known for being the home of quaker, abolitionist, and prison superintendent Samuel Pleasants Parsons. It is likely that this house was once a stop on the Underground Railroad. It is the oldest remaining building within the Oregon Hill neighborhood.

The Virginia War Memorial is a 1955 memorial in Richmond, Virginia, originally dedicated to Virginians killed in World War II and the Korean War. In 1980, the Shrine was enlarged to honor those Virginians killed in action in the Vietnam War. In 1996, the names of Virginians killed in action during Desert Storm/Desert Shield were added. Today, there are nearly 12,000 Virginians whose names are engraved on the Shrine of Memory's glass and stone walls. Reflecting the different character of war today, Virginia has created a special Memorial Shrine to honor the over 250 Virginians killed in the Global War on Terrorism. The Virginians at War documentary video series, combined with other efforts, significantly increased the War Memorial's public image in the local region and throughout the Commonwealth, and highlighted the message of the "Price of Freedom". The Memorial added staff and volunteers to meet the increasing demand for its educational offerings and to assist with increased visitors to the Memorial. With over 21,000 people from 45 states and 21 countries visiting the War Memorial in 2008, the facilities were stretched to the breaking point. As a result of this influx of visitors, some groups were turned away as the single auditorium could not support multiple groups for meetings. The Memorial is also used by active military personnel for events such as homecomings, re-enlistments, and promotions. To alleviate the increasing demand on the facilities, an education center was planned to expand the educational opportunities and outreach for students and visitors, and to provide adequate visitor services. A design was created to add an 18,000 square foot education center that would provide additional space to accommodate multiple groups and visitors.

Open High School is an alternative public high school in urban Oregon Hill in Richmond, Virginia. It was established in 1972 with the intention of helping students become independent, self-determined thinkers and learners. Students volunteer at a variety of places, take college courses for high school and college credit, and independently develop and maintain a class schedule. The school building was originally built with money and on land donated by Grace Arents.

Pratt's Castle was a home located in the historic Gambles Hill neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia. Built in 1854, the structure was a rare Virginia example of Gothic Revival architecture.

Wealthy heiress Grace Arents helped build many institutions to serve the community.

Henry Coalter Cabell House is a historic home located in Richmond, Virginia. Its name reflects prominent Richmond attorney and Confederate officer Henry Coalter Cabell, who rented the elegant house for many years.

The Ellen Glasgow House, also known as the Branch-Glasgow House, is a historic house at 1 West Main Street in Richmond, Virginia. Built in 1841, it is nationally significant as the home of writer Ellen Glasgow (1873–1945) from 1887 until her death. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971.

The Tredegar Iron Works in Richmond, Virginia, was the biggest ironworks in the Confederacy during the American Civil War, and a significant factor in the decision to make Richmond its capital. Tredegar supplied about half the artillery used by the Confederate States Army, as well as the iron plating for CSS Virginia, the first Confederate ironclad warship, which fought in the historic Battle of Hampton Roads in March 1862. The works avoided destruction by troops during the evacuation of the city, and continued production through the mid-20th century. Now classified as a National Historic Landmark District, the site serves as the main building of the American Civil War Museum. The name Tredegar derives from the Welsh industrial town that supplied much of the company's early workforce.

St. Andrew's Church is an historic Episcopal church complex in Richmond, Virginia, United States. The complex consists of the church (1901), school (1901), parish hall (1904), Instructive Nurse Association Building (1904), and William Byrd Community House or Arents Free Library (1908). The church is a rough-faced Virginia granite, cruciform Gothic Revival style structure dominated by a 115-foot corner tower. The school and parish hall are three-story, brick buildings on a stone basements.The woodwork for the structures was provided by Richmond Wood Working Company. A.H. Ellwood and Noland & Baskerville are credited as the architects. The Gothic Revival architecture site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

St. Andrew's School is a tuition-free school focused on the whole child. It is fully accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). Richmond philanthropist and social reformer Grace Arents founded the school in 1894. It is located in the historic Oregon Hill neighborhood. The school includes grades K-5 with a total of 96 students.

Crozet House, also known as the Curtis Carter House, is a historic home located in Richmond, Virginia. It was built in 1814, and was originally built as a two-story, five bay, "L"-shaped brick house over a raised basement in the late-Federal style. It obtained its present "U"-shape after the addition of an east wing to the rear of the house. It was built by Curtis Carter, a local brick mason and contractor.The architecture firm of Marcellus Wright Jr. maintained offices in Crozet House. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
