The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is a group of three adjacent buildings next to the Yarra River in South Wharf, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The venues are owned and operated by the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust. Following the opening of its expansion in 2018, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre regained the status as being the largest convention and exhibition venue in Australia and one of the largest spaces in the southern hemisphere. The total size of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is 70,000 square metres. The venue consists of 63 meeting rooms, outdoor courtyard spaces, a Plenary that can be divided into three self-contained acoustically separate theatres, the Goldfields Theatre a 9,000 square metre multi-purpose event space with a retractable 1,000-seat theatre and 39,000 square metres of pillarless exhibition space. In 2017/18, 1,124 events were held at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. These events attracted 950,385 delegates, including 23 international conventions involving 28,750 delegates and 34 national conventions which attracted 38,626 delegates.In 2018/19 Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre contributed more than $1.10 billion in economic impact to the state of Victoria.

Southbank is an inner urban neighbourhood of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 1 km south of the Melbourne central business district. Its local government area are the cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip. At the 2016 Census, Southbank had a population of 18,709. Its southernmost area is considered part of the central business district of the city. Southbank is bordered to the north by the Yarra River, and to the east by St Kilda Road. Southbank's southern and western borders are bounded by Dorcas Street, Kings Way, Market Street, Ferrars Street, and a triangle bordered by Gladstone Street, Montague Street, and the West Gate Freeway.Southbank was formerly a mostly industrial area, and simply part of the locality of South Melbourne, and the City of South Melbourne. It was transformed into a densely populated district of high rise apartment and office buildings beginning in the early 1990s, as part of an urban renewal program. With the exceptions of the cultural precinct along St Kilda Road, few of the older industrial buildings were identified for retention. Today, Southbank is dominated by high-rise development. It is one of the primary business centres in Greater Melbourne, being the headquarters of Treasury Wine Estates, Crown Limited, Alumina, Incitec Pivot, The Herald and Weekly Times (including the Herald Sun), as well as regional offices of many major corporations, in a cluster of towers with over 340,000 square metres of office space in 2008. It is also one of the most densely populated areas of Melbourne, with a large cluster of apartment towers, including Australia's tallest tower measured to its highest floor, the Australia 108. Southbank Promenade and Southgate Restaurant and Shopping Precinct, on the southern bank of the Yarra River, extending to Crown Casino, is one of Melbourne's major entertainment precincts. Southgate's landmark Ophelia sculpture by Deborah Halpern has been used to represent Melbourne in tourism campaigns.

The Spencer Street Bridge is a road and tram bridge over the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia. It connects Spencer Street on the north bank with Clarendon Street on the south. The idea of a bridge at this point was first put forward in the mid-1800s.The design of the bridge was a public competition won by Messrs. Edward Saunders and Alan Wilson, engineers, in conjunction with Messrs. Alfred R. La Gerche and W. E. Gower, architects., the competition result being announced in November 1925 The first pile was driven in October 1927.During construction engineers knew deep foundations would be required to find bedrock, but at 20 metres below sea level they struck a red gum stump that took three weeks work to remove. It was dated at about 8,000 years old and appears to have lived for well over 400 years. The cantilever girder type, with steel girder suspended span bridge was completed in 1930, with an adjacent glass and steel covered footbridge built alongside in 1998, as part of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Polly Woodside is a Belfast-built, three-masted, iron-hulled barque, preserved in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), and forming the central feature of the South Wharf precinct. The ship was originally built in Belfast by William J. Woodside and was launched in 1885. Polly Woodside is typical of thousands of smaller iron barques built in the last days of sail, intended for deep water trade around the world and designed to be operated as economically as possible.

Planetshakers Church is an evangelical Christian Pentecostal megachurch adult and youth movement based in Melbourne, Australia, with several church campuses around the world. The church is also known for its contemporary worship music, with its bands Planetshakers and Planetboom, and its record label Planetshakers Ministries International, whose songs have been translated and reinterpreted in many evangelical churches of the world.

The former Melbourne Maritime Museum, now, the Polly Woodside tall ship and museum, managed by the National Trust of Australia, is situated in South Wharf on the Yarra River in the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is home to the barque Polly Woodside, the now restored cargo vessel launched in 1885. The vessel resides in an original wooden-walled dry dock. The dry dock was used for the repair and service of ships for over 100 years. Historic buildings on the site include a pump house and boiler room for use in pumping water from the dry dock. Shed 2 is home to displays, artefacts and models of Polly Woodside relating to her working life. The museum is a popular attraction for school children and offers extensive education programs for primary and secondary school students. Facilities on the site include the interactive gallery, a souvenir shop and picnic area. Regular events include Pirate Sundays on the first Sunday of every month. Melbourne South was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria from 1889 to 1904. Melbourne South was defined by the Electoral Act Amendment Act 1888 as:"Commencing on the Yarra River at Prince's Bridge; thence southerly by the St. Kilda-road to Park-street, South Melbourne; westerly by Park-street to Palmerston-crescent; south-westerly and westerly by Palmerston-crescent and Raglan-street to Cecil-street; north by Cecil-street to the St. Kilda Railway ; further north crossing the St. Kilda and Sandridge Railways and by Cecil-street extension to the Normanby-road; easterly crossing that road to White-street; north-westerly by White-street to the Yarra River; and easterly by the Yarra River to the commencing point." # = by-election

The Victoria Police Museum is a law enforcement museum operated by the Historical Services Unit within the Media and Corporate Communications Department of Victoria Police. It is open to the public and is located in the mezzanine of the WTC Wharf building in the city of Melbourne, Australia. The museum's collection includes relics and artefacts from over 150 years of crime and policing in the state of Victoria, including a forensic evidence brief used to convict Julian Knight of the Hoddle Street massacre, wreckage from the Russell Street bombing of police headquarters, and the death mask of executed murderer Frederick Deeming. The museum held the backplate of the armour of the bushranger Ned Kelly, until 2002 when it donated the piece to the State Library of Victoria to make a complete set of Kelly's armour along with other pieces from Melbourne Museum and Scienceworks. In addition, historian Ken Oldis identified some items misidentified as Kelly's which actually belonged to other members of his gang. The museum holds Australia's largest collection of Kelly Gang armour, including the sets of armour worn by gang members Dan Kelly and Steve Hart.

Batman Park is an urban park, located on the northern bank of the Yarra River in central Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Batman Park is a small open grassed space with paths and planted Eucalyptus trees bordered by Spencer Street at the west, Flinders Street Viaduct at the north and King Street to the east. The park was established in 1982 through the conversion of a disused freight train rail yard and was named after one of the founders of Melbourne, John Batman with historical associations as a landing place of the Schooner Rebecca and nearby settlement at Batman's Hill. In 1997 Batman Park was effectively split in half with the section east of King Street rebranded as Enterprize Park. Much of the land on the new park was reclaimed to recreate a historical 1850s turning basin and timber wharf with sculptures by Bruce Armstrong and Geoffrey Bartlett recalling the site's maritime history. Enterprize park also became the site of the Melbourne Aquarium.

The King Street Bridge carries King Street over the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia. The bridge continues south as an elevated viaduct, with the Crown Casino built around it in later years. As originally constructed, the bridge had eight lanes across the Yarra River, two through lanes in each direction connecting King Street to Kings Way, in addition to two lanes on each side that connected to Yarra Bank Road. At the south end north facing on and off ramps connected to Whiteman Street, and the running lanes from the viaduct descend to ground level, with tram route 58 emerging from City Road to the median strip. In the 1990s, the development of Crown Casino closed Yarra Bank Road, and the bridge ramps were connected to the basement carpark of the complex.The south end of the bridge has been undergoing differential settlement between the approach ramps resting on fill, and the suspended section supported by bored piles.

South Wharf is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), 2 km south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District. Its local government areas are the Cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip. At the 2016 Census, South Wharf had a population of 106.South Wharf is a small inner suburb south west from Melbourne's CBD. Its borders are the Yarra River to the north, Wurundjeri Way to the west, the West Gate Freeway and a small private car park bordering Ford Street and Munro Street, which is part of the City of Port Phillip, to the south and the former Port Melbourne railway line and Clarendon Street to the east. Gazetted in 2008 and formerly part of the industrial and shipping area of Southbank, the renaming is part of a wider urban renewal strategy to link Southbank with the Melbourne Docklands. South Wharf includes some of Melbourne's landmarks, including the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and the Melbourne Maritime Museum, with its heritage Polly Woodside. South Wharf is also home to many apartments, shopping outlet Direct Factory Outlets and the 5-star luxury hotel Pan Pacific Hotel A five-storey Victorian warehouse, known as the Tea House (at 28 Clarendon Street), built in 1888, is one of the few buildings which survived the redevelopment of the area.
