Promenade on the Peninsula is the current name of originally enclosed, now open-air regional shopping mall in Rolling Hills Estates on the affluent Palos Verdes Peninsula in the South Bay area of Greater Los Angeles. Former names include The Courtyard, Shops at Palos Verdes and Avenue of the Peninsula.

Chowigna (also, Unaungna) is a former Tongva-Gabrieleño Native American settlement in Los Angeles County, California.It was located in modern-day Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Peninsula.Name variations include: Chowiinga, Chowi, Unaungna, Chowigna, and Chowingna (near San Pedro).The Chowigna Village site at Malaga Cove has been inhabited for at least 7,100 years. It was first described by the Cabrillo Expedition in 1542. It was excavated in 1936-37 by the Southwest Museum of the Native Americans and the University of Southern California. Among the thousands of artifacts retrieved were "arrowheads, mortars and pestles, scrapers and spoons made from abalone, beads and art objects, bone tools, shells," including olivella and giant keyhole limpet shells, "and bones from food animals like mussels and birds ... An estimated 150 people lived at the site in its last days, about 1775." "The site stratigraphy and material culture assemblage provided the central framework of early cultural chronological sequences for the region."Artifacts of the Chowigna Native Americans are held by the Southwest Museum of the Native Americans and the Redondo Beach Historical Museum.The Chowigna Natives used the site of today's Hopkins Wilderness Park, formerly Nike missile site LA-57 from 1956 to 1963, in Redondo Beach as a lookout place. The wetlands located at the site of today's AES power plant in Redondo Beach were a source of foods including halibut, lobster, and sea bass, and also of salt. In the 18th century, the Chowigna bartered salt from the old Redondo Salt Lake, "a spring-fed salt lake about 200 yards wide and 600 yards long situated about 200 yards from the ocean", with other tribes. Their village by the lake was called "Onoova-nga", or "Place of Salt." The Chowigna were relocated to missions in 1854, when Manuel Dominguez sold 215 acres of Rancho San Pedro, including the lake, to Henry Allanson and William Johnson for the Pacific Salt Works.The Chowigna rancheria was associated with the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel.

Congregation Ner Tamid, officially Congregation Ner Tamid of South Bay, is a Conservative synagogue located at 5721 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles, California, in the United States. The clergy includes Rabbi Mark Hyman, Cantor Ken Jaffe, and Cantor Emeritus Samuel Radwine. The synagogue conducts a number of programs including the Adult Education, Preschool and USY programs.

Peninsula Center is a shopping center in Rolling Hills Estates, California on the affluent Palos Verdes Peninsula in Greater Los Angeles. Developer Jerry Moss and it opened in phases from May 1961 through to 1965.Tenants during the opening years included a 52,000-square-foot (4,800 m2) J. J. Newberry variety store (May 1961, Lucky Supermarkets (October 1962), Fox Theater and Buffums department store (1963), the first major department store to open on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. By 1965 the center had 65 stores and 200,000 square feet (19,000 m2) of gross leasable area. Peninsula Center hosted the Miss Peninsula Center beauty contest on May 22, 1965. In late June 1965, Peninsula Raceways opened near Buffums, in response to the slot car racing craze that reached its zenith that year.

As of 2023, it is a top-ranked school in the Los Angeles, CA Metro Area (#16) and California (#42), according to US News & World Report.

Rolling Hills Estates is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. On the northern side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, facing Torrance, Rolling Hills Estates is mostly residential. Incorporated in 1957, Rolling Hills Estates has many horse paths. The population was 8,067 at the 2010 census, up from 7,676 at the 2000 census. In 2018, the population rose to 8,141, and the 2020 census counted 8,280 residents.

Chadwick School is a nonsectarian independent K-12 day school located in an unincorporated area on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Specifically it is located at the top of the neighborhood referred to as Academy Hill, which is bounded by a canyon, a precipice, Crenshaw Boulevard, and Palos Verdes Drive North.

Del Cerro Park is a public park located in Rancho Palos Verdes, Los Angeles County, California. The park is situated high atop a bluff at the southernmost end of Crenshaw Boulevard. Del Cerro Park is noted for its sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.

Rancho Palos Verdes is a coastal city located in south Los Angeles County, California. Incorporated on September 7, 1973, the city has a population of 42,287 as reported in the 2020 United States Census. Rancho Palos Verdes sits atop the bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, neighboring three other cities in the Palos Verdes Hills, namely Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates.

Hacienda de la Paz is a large estate property in the city of Rolling Hills, on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. It was designed by the 2010 Driehaus Prize winner Rafael Manzano Martos with decorator Manuel Gavira Sanjuan for owner/builder John Z. Blazevich and is Martos' only project in the Americas. Construction began with two parcels of land in 1993 and final completion was not until 2008. It is the 36th largest home ever built in the United States, still standing.

Rancho Del Mar High School is one of three public high schools on the Palos Verdes Peninsula (the others being Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and Palos Verdes High School). Located on Crest Road in Rolling Hills, the school is part of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. Rancho Del Mar was opened in 1984 on the former site of La Cresta Elementary School. With a relatively small enrollment, Rancho Del Mar High School focuses on students who experience difficulty with the regular high school environment or curriculum. It is a common secondary destination for those struggling with behavioral or academic issues at either Palos Verdes or Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. Enrollment is only granted through administrative recommendation.

Pacific Unitarian Church is a Unitarian Universalist congregation located in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. It is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, within the Pacific Southwest District. PUC was recognized as one of four "Breakthrough Congregations" in 2008, reflected in a $75,000 donation to Community Church UU of New Orleans. Membership as of 2019 is around 180 with weekly attendance averaging over 90 adults and children.
