The Gradara Castle is a medieval fortress that is located in the town of Gradara, Marche, in Italy. It is protected by two walls, the outermost of which extends for almost 800 metres, making it an imposing structure. Particularly striking is the view of the fortress and the underlying historical village at night. The castle is one of the most visited monuments in the region and is the scene of museum events, musical and artistic. Gradara was, by geographical position, since ancient times a crossroads of traffic and people: during the Middle Ages, the fortress was one of the main theatres of clashes between militias loyal to the papacy and the turbulent families Romagna and Marche. Situated at 142 metres above sea level, with the Republic of San Marino, Rimini and Carpegna in the background, Gradara represents an extraordinary urban and architectural combination. Legend has it that the castle was the scene of the famous and tragic love story of Paolo and Francesca, caught in each other's arms and killed by Gianciotto, Francesca's husband. This love story was immortalized by Dante in his Divine Comedy. The Gradara Castle dates back to the period between the 11th and 15th centuries. Its history is inextricably linked with the infamous feuds between the Malatesta and Montefeltro families. This long-standing conflict came to a halt only after the control of the castle fell into the hands of the Sforza family. It was Dante, however, who intervened with his Divine Comedy, making the castle the locale for the tale of Paolo and Francesca and thus turning the castle forever into a symbol of love.

Gradara is a town and comune in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino (PU), in the region of Marche in central Italy. It is 6 km from Gabicce Mare and Cattolica, 25 km from Rimini, 15 km from Pesaro and 33 km from Urbino. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy"). The ancient town is characterized by a double line of medieval walls and by the massive castle, one of the best preserved in Italy. It is famous as being the location of the episode of Paolo and Francesca described by Dante Alighieri in the V Canto of his Inferno. With its castle as a major tourist attraction, the town is considered by some to be functionally an extension of the riviera romagnola.

Baia Imperiale is a nightclub near the Italian city of Rimini. The disco has not undergone major renovations since 1985. The Baia Imperiale is one of the largest discos in Europe, with a capacity of more than 15,000 people. This number is regularly met in the summer months by the many tourists from the tourist towns of Rimini and Riccione, who often come here through travel organizations.

Gabicce Mare Lighthouse (Italian: Faro di Gabicce Mare) is an active lighthouse located in Gabicce Mare, on the mole of the east side of Tavollo river that marks the border between Emilia-Romagna and the Marche on the Adriatic Sea.

Cattolica (Italian: [katˈtɔːlika]; Romagnol: Catòlga) is a town and comune in the Province of Rimini, Italy, with 16,233 inhabitants as of 2007.

Tavullia is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino in the Marche region of Italy, located about 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Ancona and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Pesaro. Until 13 December 1938, it was known as Tomba di Pesaro. Tavullia is the home town of nine-time world motorcycle champion Valentino Rossi. His family built a dirt oval racetrack close to the town. The town is considered by some to be part of the historical region of Romagna.

The Conca is a river in the Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions of Italy. Its source is Monte Carpegna, which is in the Montefeltro part of the province of Pesaro e Urbino. The river flows northeast near Macerata Feltria and Mercatino Conca before crossing into the province of Rimini. The river then flows past Morciano di Romagna before entering the Adriatic Sea southeast of Misano Adriatico and northwest of Cattolica.

Borgo Santa Maria is a small town located 10 km south-west of Pesaro, in Marche, Italy. Its population amounted to 3,369 in 2001 (Istat census).

In 1916, two earthquakes of magnitude 5.82 Mw occurred near the border between the regions of Romagna and the Marche in the Kingdom of Italy: at 13:50 CEST on 17 May, and at 09:06 CEST on 16 August.While the earthquakes caused few fatalities, the 17 May earthquake damaged and the 16 August earthquake destroyed many buildings in the coastal settlements of Rimini, Riccione, and Pesaro, and their hinterlands. 615 buildings in Rimini were demolished after the earthquakes, while 80% of Riccione was razed. Among the lost historic buildings were Riccione's medieval Church of San Lorenzo in Strada and its first marine hospice. Some houses also collapsed in the Republic of San Marino. With the 16 August earthquake occurring at the height of the summer touristic season, the 1916 earthquakes considerably hurt the local coastal economies, already depressed by the First World War.The area around Rimini had suffered earthquakes in 1672, 1786, and 1875. Their frequency had mistakenly led people to expect strong earthquakes only once a century. The 1916 earthquakes are the most recent significant earthquakes to have struck Rimini and its environs. Antiseismic building regulations enforced in 1927 were suspended under Fascist Italy to encourage touristic development; they were reinstated in 1984, after much of the coastline had been developed.

Misano Adriatico (Romagnol: Misên) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Rimini in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) southeast of Bologna and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) southeast of Rimini. Misano Adriatico borders the following municipalities: Cattolica, Coriano, Riccione, San Clemente, San Giovanni in Marignano. Misano is a seaside town with a few resorts. The main attraction of the town is the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The Conca enters the Adriatic Sea near the town.

The 2008 San Marino and Rimini Riviera motorcycle Grand Prix was the thirteenth round of the 2008 MotoGP Championship. It took place on the weekend of 29–31 August 2008 at the Misano World Circuit.

The Misano World Circuit (officially known as Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli or Misano Circuit Sic 58, and before 2006 called Circuito Internazionale Santa Monica) is a race track located next to the town of Misano Adriatico (Province of Rimini) in the frazione of Santa Monica-Cella. Originally designed in 1969 as a length of 3.488 km (2.167 mi), it hosted its first event in 1972. In 1993, the track length was increased to 4.064 km (2.525 mi). As of 2007, it began hosting the San Marino and Rimini Coast Grand Prix as part of the MotoGP World Championship. In 2012, the track was renamed to commemorate Marco Simoncelli, a local motorcycle racer who died in 2011.
