Crescent Lake (Rattlesnake Pond)

Crescent Lake (formerly known as Rattlesnake Pond) is a lake in Raymond, Maine, United States. It is located around 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of the center of Raymond. A few other lakes surround it, including Panther Pond to the south (connected by the Tenny River), Raymond Pond to the east, Thompson Lake to the north and Dumpling Pond and Coffee Pond to the west. It has a surface area of 716 acres (3 km2) and a maximum depth of 54 ft (16 m), which occurs in its northeastern section. Its shoreline runs for 8.9 miles (14.3 km). Webbs Mills Road, part of Maine State Route 85, passes to the west of the lake, running in a north–south direction, connecting Raymond, East Raymond and the village of Crescent Lake. Camp Agawam, one of the oldest summer camps for boys in the United States, is situated on the northwestern shores of the lake. Crescent Lake Watershed Association was formed in 2008.

Camp Agawam is a boys' camp located on Crescent Lake in Raymond, Maine, U.S., and is one of the oldest summer camps for boys in the United States. The camp was founded in 1919 by Appleton A. Mason, and remained in the Mason family until 1985. The Boston Globe described the camp in 1988 as "an old camp with old ideas." However, in 2009, Senator Susan Collins described its program as "unique and exciting." It is noted for its award-winning charitable program, Main Idea, which enables underprivileged boys to attend the camp. The camp is run as a non-profit organization, directed by Erik Calhoun.

The East Raymond Union Chapel is a historic chapel at 394 Webbs Mills Road in East Raymond, Maine. Built in 1890, it is a modest wood-frame building with Queen Anne and Gothic Revival styling. It has served as a non-denominational religious meeting place for much of its time; it is now affiliated with the United Church of Christ and the Casco Village Church in Casco. It has scheduled services during the summer. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Tenny River is a 1.0-mile-long (1.6 km) navigable stream connecting Crescent Lake with Panther Pond in the town of Raymond in the U.S. state of Maine. The river drops just one foot in elevation over its course, from 278 feet (85 m) above sea level at Crescent Lake to 277 feet (84 m) at Panther Pond, the outlet of which (Panther Run) then drops another 10 feet (3.0 m) to Sebago Lake. The Tenny River is part of the Presumpscot River watershed, flowing to Casco Bay, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean.

Panther Pond is a lake located in Raymond, Maine in Cumberland County. Panther Pond is approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) long and 1 mile (1.6 km) wide. The deepest part of the lake is approximately 70 feet (21 m). Panther Pond is connected to two lakes. The first, the much larger Sebago Lake is connected by a run-out of Panther Pond named Panther Run. The connection between the two lakes are separated by a dam that is opened annually to let species of fish to flow through. The other lake, Crescent Lake is connected to Panther Pond by the Tenny River.

WFNK has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, broadcasting from a transmitter in Poland, Maine, making it among the highest-powered FM stations in New England. Some WFNK programming is also heard on sister station WBQX in Thomaston, Maine, which also calls itself Frank FM. WFNK is classified as a classic hits station, but it leans more toward classic rock. Core artists played include The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Springsteen, but the station avoids more pop-leaning artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince. Once a year, WFNK has a 1,000-song countdown of the greatest Frank FM songs, ending with the #1 song on Memorial Day. The station also plays its classic hits library from A to Z every September. WFNK is also known for its long-running campaigns in support of Portland's Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and Maine's Make-a-Wish chapter.

WBLM 102.9 FM is a Classic Rock radio station licensed to Portland, Maine. The station has a studio in One City Center, along with co-owned Townsquare Media stations WJBQ, WCYY and WHOM. The station also serves as the Portland market affiliate for the New England Patriots Radio Network. WBLM is one of only a few FM Stations in New England licensed to operate at 100,000 watts, meaning that the station can be received from almost anywhere within a 90-mile radius of its transmitter. WBLM broadcasts from a tower near Route 121 in Raymond that is the second tallest man-made structure in Maine (second only to the tower for WMTW TV 8). In the movie City Slickers, Billy Crystal's character claimed to have been a sales executive for the fictional station "WBLM Radio".

Raymond is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. Raymond is included in the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan New England city and town area. The population was 4,536 at the 2020 census. It is a summer recreation area and is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan statistical area. Raymond Neck is the landing for the ferry to the town of Frye Island in Sebago Lake. The Raymond school system is currently affiliated with the Windham school system in a district known as RSU 14.

West Poland is an unincorporated village in the town of Poland, Androscoggin County, Maine, United States. It is included in the Lewiston-Auburn, Maine metropolitan statistical area. The community is located on the south shore of Tripp Pond, 11.2 miles (18.0 km) west-southwest of Auburn. West Poland has a post office with ZIP code 04291, which opened on May 19, 1837.

Élan School was a private, coeducational, and residential behavior modification program and therapeutic boarding school in Poland, Androscoggin County, Maine, US. It was a full member of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) and was considered to be a part of the troubled teen industry. The facility was closed down on April 1, 2011, due to reports of abuse, many from former students, dating back to its opening in 1970.Élan was located on a 33-acre (13 ha) campus that was formerly a hunting lodge. There were also other campuses, such as the one on 424 Maplecrest Road in Parsonsfield, Maine, which was formerly a hotel and hospital before it was bought by Élan in 1975. This campus was known to have some of the worst abuse in the school's history, and has been said to have been put out of use sometime in the 1980s.The school acquired notoriety during the 1990s and early-2000s when former classmates of Michael Skakel, who had attended Élan in the 1970s, testified against him in his trial for an unsolved murder that had occurred about two years before he enrolled at Élan. The school was also the subject of persistent allegations of abuse in their behavioral modification program.

Friends Meetinghouse is a historic Quaker meeting house on Quaker Ridge Road in Casco, Maine. Built in 1814, it is the oldest surviving Quaker meeting house in the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Thomas Pond is adjacent to U.S. Route 302 on the border of Raymond and Casco, Maine. The shoreline is heavily developed with residences and seasonal cabins, and there is a boat launching area near the highway where the pond overflows into Sebago Lake. White perch, chain pickerel, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass thrive in the shallow portions of the pond; and land-locked Atlantic salmon use the deeper parts of the pond preying on rainbow smelt.
