The Winnipeg Area Control Centre (ICAO: CZWG) is one of seven Area Control Centres in Canada operated by Nav Canada. Located at 777 Moray Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the centre controls all air traffic in Manitoba under 60,000 feet (including waters in Hudson Bay, as well as parts of Saskatchewan (from border with Alberta to Thompson) and Ontario east of Thunder Bay (including waters of Hudson Bay and James Bay). To the east is Toronto Area Control Centre and to the west is Edmonton Area Control Centre.

St. James-Assiniboia is a major community area in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. As it encapsulates most of the city ward of St. James, which includes the major St. James Street, the area itself is often simply referred to "St. James."Located in the far western part of the city, it is bounded on the north by the Rural Municipality of Rosser and the Canadian National Railway's Oak Point line, on the south by the Assiniboine River, on the west by the Rural Municipality of Headingley, and on the east by the Canadian Pacific Railway's La Riviere line.The area today is composed of the several municipalities that existed prior to the amalgamation of Winnipeg in 1971/1972. It began in 1886 as the Rural Municipality of Assiniboia, parts of which broke off to form the RM of St. James in 1921 and the RM of Brooklands in 1922. In 1956, the RM of St. James was incorporated as the City of St. James, absorbing Brooklands 11 years later. In 1969, St. James and Assiniboia merged into the City of St. James-Assiniboia, remaining as such until the 1972 amalgamation.

The Air Force Heritage Museum and Air Park, in Winnipeg, Manitoba displays aircraft and artifacts pertaining to the history of the Canadian Air Force. The park contains memorials to Canadian air search and rescue, and to the people who trained under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The museum was established in 1975. Memorials in the park were dedicated in 1999. The air park has the largest permanent display of Canadian military aircraft in Canada. It is the seventh busiest airport in Canada by passenger traffic, serving 3,031,113 passengers in 2022, and the 11th busiest airport by aircraft movements. It is a hub for passenger airlines Calm Air, Perimeter Airlines, and cargo airline Cargojet. It is also a focus city for WestJet, as well as an operating base for Flair Airlines. The airport is co-located with Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg. Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg (CFB Winnipeg; IATA: YWG, ICAO: CYWG) is a Royal Canadian Air Force base located within the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Co-located at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, CFB Winnipeg is home to many flight operations support divisions, as well as several training schools. Its primary RCAF lodger unit is 17 Wing, commonly referred to as 17 Wing Winnipeg. One of the facilities at CFB Winnipeg is the Billy Bishop Building which houses the headquarters of 1 Canadian Air Division (1 CAD) as well as the headquarters of Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Region.

Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate is a dual-track and was recognized by the International Baccalaureate before it was phased out by AP, secondary school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is part of the St. James-Assiniboia School Division. In addition to AP, the school offers a French Immersion program, technical and vocational programs, and multiple fine arts programs.

While the lineage of 1 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (1 CFFTS; French: 1re École de pilotage des Forces canadiennes) can be traced back through previous similarly named Canadian military pilot flying schools, such as No. 1 Service Flying Training School and 1 Flying Training School, the unit located at CFB Winnipeg and currently bearing the name does not participate in pilot training.

The St. James Civic Centre is a multipurpose recreation complex located in the St. James district of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The complex features an indoor ice hockey arena, swimming pool, and auditorium. Built in 1967, the St. James Civic Centre is owned and operated by the City of Winnipeg. The St. James Civic Centre arena has been one of the more prominent hockey venues in Winnipeg since its opening. With a seating capacity of 1,500, it is one of the larger arenas in the city. The facility is currently home to the St. James Canucks of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League and local minor hockey teams. The arena is also used for sledge hockey and ringette during the winter, as well as non-sporting activities during the summer. The pool and leisure centre includes a 25-yard*** swimming pool and weight room. In addition, there is a 350-seat auditorium and two meeting rooms. The facilities are available to the public year-round.

The Living Prairie Museum is a 30-acre (12 ha) tall grass prairie preserve located between Daisy Road and Harcourt Street, east of Ness Avenue in the St. James-Assiniboia suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was discovered in 1968 when two botanists from a local sub-committee of the International Biological Program surveyed Manitoba for native prairie plant communities. Of more than 60 sites that were researched, only four were found uncultivated. One of the largest undisturbed sites was discovered in a residential area of Winnipeg. Today a vestige of this original prairie community has been set aside as a City of Winnipeg Nature Park, called the Living Prairie Museum. The Living Prairie Museum is home to over 160 species of prairie grasses and wildflowers, as well as a great array of prairie wildlife. In Manitoba only 1/20 of 1% of original tall grass prairie remains. The Living Prairie Museum is one of the few preserves of this once vast ecosystem. This museum is defined by the historical interpretation of the tall grass prairie of the Winnipeg Region. The museum has an interpretative centre with displays on prairie history and ecology as well as an interactive art installation by Winnipeg artist Collin Zipp, titled lost_landscape.

The Deer Lodge Curling Club located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a six-sheet curling club located in the west part of the city. The club was established in 1919 and moved to the current location in the 1950s. In 2023, the Thistle Curling Club announced that they would be selling their location and merging their club with Deer Lodge Curling Club. The two clubs would retain their history and identity but continue to operate out of the same facility beginning in the fall of 2023. Barry Fry curled out of Deer Lodge Curling Club when he won the 1979 Macdonald Brier, going on to win bronze at the 1979 World Championships.
