Columbia Theater (Washington, D.C.)

The Petersen House is a 19th-century federal style row house located at 516 10th Street NW in Washington, D.C. On April 15, 1865, United States President Abraham Lincoln died there after being shot the previous evening at Ford's Theatre, located across the street. The house was built in 1849 by William A. Petersen, a German tailor. Future Vice-President John C. Breckinridge, a friend of the Lincoln family, once rented this house in 1852. In 1865, it served as a boarding house. It has been a museum since the 1930s, and is administered by the National Park Service.

Madame Tussauds Washington D.C. was a wax museum located in Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States. The attraction opened in October 2007 and became the 12th Madame Tussauds venue worldwide, and featured wax sculptures of famous figures from politics, culture, sports, music and television. In comparison to other Madame Tussauds venues, the venue features more waxworks of political figures, with sculptures of all 45 U.S. presidents displayed. The wax museum was located across the street from Ford's Theatre where US President Abraham Lincoln was murdered by John Wilkes Booth. The museum closed after March 17, 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The closure was announced as temporary, but the museum never reopened. In July 2021, the museum operator was seeking to sublease the entire space of the former museum to outside parties.

700 Eleventh Street is a high-rise building, and is the second tallest commercial building in Washington, D.C. The building is a twin building to Metro Center I, which is one block away. The building stands at 199 feet (61 meters) with 13 floors and was completed in 1992. It is currently the 6th-tallest building in Washington, D.C. The architectural firm who designed the building was the firms Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (New York), Melvin Mitchell Architects.

Metro Center station is the central hub station of the Washington Metro rapid transit system in Washington, D.C. The station is located in Downtown Washington, D.C., centered on the intersection of 12th Street NW and G Street NW. It is the second busiest station in the Metrorail system after Union Station, averaging 30,500 passengers per weekday as of May 2006. The Red Line portion of Metro Center station opened on March 27, 1976, as part of the first section of the Metro system.

The McLachlen Building is a historic structure located in Downtown Washington, D.C. It has been listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites since 1985, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Ford's Theatre is a theater located in Washington, D.C., which opened in August 1863. It is infamous for being the site of the assassination of United States President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865. After being shot in the head, the fatally wounded 56-year-old Lincoln was carried across the street to the Petersen House, where he died the next morning. The theater was later used as a warehouse and government office building. In 1893, part of its interior flooring collapsed, causing 22 deaths, and needed repairs were made. The building became a museum in 1932, and it was renovated and re-opened as a theater in 1968. A related Center for Education and Leadership museum opened February 12, 2012, next to Petersen House. The Petersen House and the theater are preserved together as Ford's Theatre National Historic Site, administered by the National Park Service; programming within the theater and the Center for Education is overseen separately by the Ford's Theatre Society.

Kirkwood House was a 19th-century building in Washington, D.C., located at the northeast corner of the intersection of 12th Street W and Pennsylvania Avenue. Opened in 1848, it was initially called Fuller House, and then the Irving Hotel, before becoming known as the Kirkwood House in 1854. Kirkwood House was the site of the inauguration of Andrew Johnson as President of the United States following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. The building was demolished in 1874.
