The Fairmount Apartments, also known as the Grand Lady of Jersey City, are located in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The Apartments were added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 3, 1995. The Apartments are an example of an early twentieth century Arts and Crafts style apartments. The building consists of two L-shaped 4+1⁄2-story brick-and-concrete structures connected by a 1-story structure.

Bergen-Lafayette is a section of Jersey City, New Jersey.As its name implies, Bergen-Lafayette is made of different neighborhoods. It lies west-southwest of Downtown and Liberty State Park. Its less-defined other borders overlap those of Greenville at Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to the south, Lincoln Park/West Bergen to the west, and Montgomery Street at McGinley Square to the north. The name Bergen, used throughout Hudson County, is taken from the original Bergen, New Netherland settlement at Bergen Square. The district can correspond to the former Bergen City, which existed from 1855 to 1870 and was originally incorporated as a town by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 24, 1855, from portions of Bergen Township. In 1862, it did a reverse takeover, absorbing the remaining portions Bergen Township. On April 14, 1863, portions of the town were taken to form Greenville Township. Bergen was reincorporated as a city on March 11, 1868. On May 2, 1870, both Bergen City and Hudson City elected to merge with Jersey City.

The Academy of St. Aloysius was a private high school for girls located in Jersey City, in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, operated by the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth. The school had an enrollment of 178 students and offered a college preparatory curriculum, an honors program and college credit courses. The school closed in June 2006, as did the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Hoboken, New Jersey, another Sisters of Charity girls' high school, as they merged to form a new school, called Caritas Academy. Also run by the Sisters of Charity, was open from September 2006 until 2008 in the building previously occupied by St. Aloysius.The school was a member of the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools.

The Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center, known today as the Run Baby Run Arena, is a multipurpose athletic facility on the campus of Saint Peter's University, a private, coeducational Roman Catholic university in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. Notable for its air-supported "bubble," the building opened in 1975 at a cost of $6 million and is named after the 17th president of the college. The facility is the home of the Saint Peter's Peacocks men's and women's basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming and diving teams. For men's basketball games, collapsible bleachers are expanded to cover two of the main gymnasium's three full courts and provide a seating capacity of 3,200. For the women's games, only one of the bleachers is opened. The building also houses an Olympic-size swimming pool with 1- and 3-meter diving boards, a fitness center, a weight room, a racquetball court, and a squash court. The offices for the Department of Athletics are located on the third floor while the Department of Recreation and Intramural Sports is in the basement. Students often refer to the building simply as "The Bubble" due to the air-supported roof, which is one of the most recognizable landmarks on the campus and in Jersey City. The Bubble covers five roof-top tennis courts and a jogging track. The tennis nets can be removed to provide facilities for indoor athletic practices as well as a venue for intramural sporting events.

Saint Peter's University is a private Jesuit university in Jersey City, New Jersey. It was founded as Saint Peter's College in 1872 by the Society of Jesus. The university offers over 60 undergraduate and graduate programs to more than 2,600 undergraduate and 800 graduate students. Its mascot is the Peacock and its sports teams play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, of which it is a founding member. The university is located on a 30-acre (12 ha) campus just south of Journal Square, and is 2 miles (3 km) west of New York City. Evening and weekend classes are offered in Jersey City, Englewood Cliffs, and South Amboy.

The Jersey City YMCA, is located in Bergen Section of Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The YMCA building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 12, 1999. The building is an example of an early twentieth century Renaissance Revival style. Built in 1923, in 1995 the building ceased to be used by the YMCA and was converted into affordable housing.

Englewood Cliffs College was a women's college for Roman Catholic nuns and laypersons in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. It was founded in 1962 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Newark originally as a sisters' college. It closed in 1974 because of financial problems.In 1975, the college campus became part of St. Peter's College (now St. Peter's University), a Jesuit higher education institution in nearby Jersey City.The school was founded in June 1962 as Archangel College, a junior formation college for Roman Catholic nuns. It was built on the site of the former Palisades Mountain House. Lay female students were first admitted in 1966 and the school's name was changed to Englewood Cliffs College. It became coeducational in 1969. In 1972, faculty members volunteered as instructors in New Jersey correctional institutions.The college's founding president was Sister Madeleine Crotty, CSJ. She was succeeded by Sister Redempta McConnell, who became acting president upon Sister Madeleine's resignation due to failing health. Sister Redempta previously served as president of San Isidro College, a high school in the Philippines, from 1953 to 1965.On January 19, 1974, the basketball team was defeated by Essex County College by a score of 210–67, a collegiate record losing margin of 143 points.

The St. Aloysius High School was a private co-ed high school located in Jersey City, in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. The school closed at the end of the 2006-07 school year. The school, which first opened in 1897, had faced an annual deficit of $500,000 and would have had to raise tuition by more than 25% to remain in fiscal balance.

The Old Bergen Church is a historic church congregation in Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. Established in 1660 in what was then the Dutch colony of New Netherland, it is the oldest continuous religious congregation in what is today the State of New Jersey. The congregation is jointly affiliated with the Reformed Church in America and the Presbyterian Church (USA). The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 14, 1973. The original church building was constructed in 1680 and the current edifice was built in 1841.

McGinley Square is in Jersey City, New Jersey, located near the middle of the city, south of Journal Square. The square itself is at the intersection of two of the city's major thoroughfares, Montgomery Street (which runs from Downtown at Exchange Place to West Side), and Bergen Avenue (which runs between Greenville and Journal Square). The area was named after Monsignor Roger McGinley, the builder of St. Aedans Church. Hudson Catholic Regional High School, the Jersey City Armory, the Jersey City YMCA, St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, and Bergen Square are all within a short walk from the square.By the late 2010s, the area around the square was planned for development. and was chosen by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to receive a $250,000 Choice Neighborhoods grant to explore ways to develop the area into a mixed-use neighborhood. Residents formed the McGinley Square Redevelopment Plan, which called for the construction of affordable and workforce housing, retail outlets, restaurants, and entertainment facilities. Large blocks of the neighborhood belong to Saint Peter's University, which in March 2016 received approval to build a 21-story mixed use tower at 688-700 Montgomery Street, which included three levels of retail and entertainment space, including a movie theater and 300-car parking garage. Another proposal included a building taller and larger in scope, with three levels of retail and parking for 600 cars, half for the college, at its base. Three 11-story towers for housing - one for student dormitories, one for moderately priced housing, and one for market-rate rentals or condos - would rise above it. Plans were mired in a controversy regarding the use of eminent domain, but were nonetheless approved. Construction had been set to begin in August 2012, with completion set for 2016; as of 2018 it had not yet begun.Several community organizations are active in the McGinley Square area. Bergen Communities United is a non-profit organization responsible for community planning in McGinley Square and the neighborhoods immediately to the south. The McGinley Square Partnership is a business improvement district, with local business owners using dues and NJ Urban Enterprise Zone funds for improvements to the commercial area. The Highland Avenue Block Association advocates for residents' interests.

Downtown is an area of Jersey City, New Jersey, which includes the Historic Downtown and the Waterfront.

New Jersey's 13th congressional district was a congressional district which was created for the 73rd United States Congress in 1933, based on redistricting following the United States Census, 1930. It was last represented by Democrat Albio Sires when it was eliminated due to redistricting following the United States Census, 2010. Most of this district became part of a newly redrawn 8th district in 2013.
