Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church (Queens)

The St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church in Maspeth, Queens, New York City, whose parish was organized in 1872. Historically, it is one of only three churches in the area to have organized schools for its parishioners, known as the St. Stanislaus Kostka School. Together with Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, it belongs to the Parish of Saint Stanislaus Kostka - Transfiguration.

The Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, also known as Church of the Transfiguration, is a Roman Catholic church at 64-14 Clinton Avenue in Maspeth, Queens, New York City. Belonging to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn, its current pastor is Msgr. Joseph P. Calise. Prior to its merger with St. Stanislaus Kostka, it was established as a Lithuanian parish. It is now part of the merged Parish of Saint Stanislaus Kostka - Transfiguration.

Martin Luther School is a co-educational private Lutheran middle and high school in the Maspeth neighborhood of the borough of Queens, New York City, in the State of New York, United States. Founded in 1960 as Martin Luther High School, the name of the school was changed to Martin Luther School in 2012 when a middle school was added.

Mount Zion Cemetery is a large Jewish cemetery located in Maspeth, Queens, New York City. The first burial was in 1893, and as of 2015, more than 210,000 individuals had been buried there. It is noted for its memorial to those who died in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. Its grounds cover approximately 78 acres, and are divided into hundreds of plots, or gates, by landsmanshaften, synagogues, or families.

Mount Olivet Cemetery is located in the Maspeth neighborhood of Queens in New York City. Named for Jerusalem's Mount of Olives, it was incorporated in 1850 under the Rural Cemetery Act of 1847. Originally established as an Episcopal cemetery, that restriction was lifted in 1851. The land that comprises the cemetery was acquired from George Fash and the estate of James Waterbury. It was later purchased in 1878, which brought it to today's total of 71 acres. It was a popular weekend destination in the 19th century and is known for its views of Manhattan.On the cemetery grounds is the Robert J. Marks Post #560 Grand Army of the Republic Lot, on which is located a Civil War memorial dedicated "to the Defenders of the Union". 25 Civil War veterans and seventeen wives are buried in the lot. In addition to one of the founders, former U.S. Congressman James Maurice, the cemetery is also home to Georges V. Matchabelli, Helena Rubinstein, and Legs Diamond.

Maspeth station was a stop along the original New York & Flushing Railroad that opened on January 15, 1855. Maspeth station was located at Covert Avenue, now 58th Street, at Joy Street, now 54th Drive. So far as is known, there was no depot building. This station was discontinued very early on, probably in 1858. The segment between what was to become the former Laurel Hill station and Winfield station, was abandoned for passenger service in 1875, including the location of the Maspeth station, and completely abandoned in 1880. Part of the right-of-way ran through what is today the Mount Zion Jewish Cemetery in Maspeth. The Flushing and Woodside was merged into the Flushing and North Side in 1871, and its line was abandoned in favor of the ex-New York and Flushing line.

The Metropolitan Oval, also known as Met Oval, is a soccer complex located in Maspeth, Queens in New York City. Village Voice named the complex, which takes up 4.2 acres (17,000 m2), the "Best full soccer field in the middle of a residential neighborhood" in 2004, for its "pristine" playing surface and the view of the Manhattan skyline.In addition, the Metropolitan Oval is a MLS Next member. The Metropolitan Oval Academy and facility is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Miguel Brunengo serves as the Technical Director of the Academy.

Maspeth was a station along the Lower Montauk Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station was opened in February 1895 at 58th Avenue and Rust Street. The station closed in October 1903. It was reopened and closed again afterwards, dates between these years is unconfirmed, around 1924 the building was removed and around 1925 the station stop itself was discontinued. Currently the area is the site of freight activity by the New York and Atlantic Railway.

Fresh Pond was a small middle class neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens, separated from Juniper Valley by the Lutheran and Mount Olivet cemeteries. In present day, it is now considered part of the surrounding neighborhoods of Maspeth, Middle Village, Glendale, and Ridgewood (its neighbors to the northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwest, respectively) and is no longer referred to by the name "Fresh Pond." The area was originally named for two freshwater ponds that, in the early 1900s, were filled in. Other ponds were lower, and brackish due to Newtown Creek being estuarine. Its main streets, Fresh Pond Road, Metropolitan Avenue, Eliot Avenue and 61st Street, meet at the community's commercial center. Fresh Pond is served by the Fresh Pond Road and Metropolitan Avenue stations of the BMT Myrtle Avenue Line (M train) of the New York City Subway. It is also the home of the Fresh Pond Depot for MTA Bus and New York City Bus. A former Long Island Rail Road freight station of the Montauk Branch and the Fresh Pond Yard lie east of the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Fresh Pond Road. The freight only Bushwick Branch of the LIRR branches off below (west of) the Fresh Pond yard before crossing Flushing Avenue. Freight cars interchange here with the New York Connecting Railroad including those from Bay Ridge and the New York Cross Harbor Railroad.Fresh Pond Road has existed for centuries. During the American Revolutionary War, British forces pursued the American military along Fresh Pond Road.

Fresh Pond (formerly known as Bushwick Junction) was a Long Island Rail Road station along the Lower Montauk Branch, located on an open cut near Fresh Pond Road and Metropolitan Avenue in Fresh Pond, Queens, on the border between the neighborhoods of Maspeth and Ridgewood. This station had one low-level island platform between the two southernmost tracks (for eastbound trains) and one low-level side platform serving the northernmost track (for Long Island City-bound trains). However, the platforms were actually a wide area of dirt and gravel. The island platform had a small tin shelter. The only way to reach the station was via a narrow walkway that began at the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and Fresh Pond Road and went behind a car rental parking lot. It led to an overpass that had staircases going down to each platform. The station opened around June 1869, however in either 1882 or 1883, it was renamed Bushwick Junction for the connection to the Bushwick Branch. The station was rebuilt in April 1895 and closed again in 1915 as part of a grade elimination project. Though the third station was opened the same year with platforms and pedestrian bridges, the former station house still remained intact well into 1923. For the next four years, both the original name and new name would be on the LIRR timetables until it went back to strictly being named Fresh Pond in 1919.Fresh Pond station closed on March 16, 1998, along with the four remaining stations on the Lower Montauk branch due to low ridership, which did not make it cost-effective to build high-level platforms needed to support the then-new C3 bi-level cars that replaced the remainder of the rolling stock on the LIRR that were able to board at low-level platforms.

Knockdown Center is a cultural space, performance venue, and art center, located in the Maspeth neighborhood of Queens, New York City. The Center includes has many architecturally notable features: 20,000 square-foot main hall, a backyard nicknamed The Ruins, a large gallery, and several other adjacent halls of varying sizes. Since 2013, Knockdown Center has been the venue of many musical and visual art events. As of 2022, artists who have performed there include LCD Soundsystem, Yung Lean, and Chelsea Manning. Earlier in the same year, Pitchfork announced an all-new concert series called Pitchfork Presents, to be hosted at the Center. The venue has been called the "Queens' answer to The Kitchen," a reference to the notable avant-garde performance venue in Manhattan's Chelsea district.

Grover Cleveland High School is a large, comprehensive high school in Ridgewood, Queens. Grover Cleveland High School, Bayside High School, Samuel J. Tilden High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, John Adams High School, Walton High School, and Andrew Jackson High School were all built during the Great Depression from one set of blueprints in order to save money. The school is named after former US president Grover Cleveland.
