Engine Company No. 17 also known as Chemical Company No. 4 and the Brookland Firehouse, is a historic firehouse located at 1227 Monroe Street, NE, Washington, D.C. It was constructed in 1902 and housed an early “chemical company” which fought fires in outlying districts using large soda-acid extinguishers rather than using steam pumpers on the unreliable municipal water supply. The firehouse was innovative at the time of its construction, having a built-in electrical system, and it was designed to make use of the new call box system installed in the neighborhood. It was officially designated Engine Company 17 in 1905. It is built in the Romanesque Revival style with an asymmetrical design with both load-bearing masonry and structural iron. It was likely designed by Municipal Architect John B. Brady. In 2007 the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Firehouses of Washington DC MPS.

The Newton Theater (now used as a CVS Pharmacy) is located at 3601 12th Street, Northeast, Washington, D.C., in the Brookland neighborhood. The Art Deco building was designed by John Jacob Zink and opened on July 29, 1937. Zink is credited with more than 200 movie theater projects in this region. The first film shown at the Newton Theater was I Met Him in Paris, starring Claudette Colbert and Robert Young.After the theater closed in the mid-1960s, the Catholic University of America purchased the building, using it until 1971. The Newton Theater resumed screening films in the late 1970s, under the ownership of the Brookland Community Corporation but that, too, ended in 1979. The theater hosted punk rock concerts throughout 1984, featuring bands like Hüsker Dü, Government Issue, Negative Approach, Void, Iron Cross, 9353, Honor Role, and Malefice. The Newton Theater was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

St Anthony of Padua Church is a Roman Catholic parish in the Archdiocese of Washington, located at 1029 Monroe Street, NE, Washington, D.C. St. Anthony's was created by Cardinal James Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore, with the appointment of the first pastor, Rev. Desire C. DeWulf. Founded shortly after the Catholic University of America, the Franciscan Monastery, and the Dominican House of Studies in the Brookland neighborhood of Northeast Washington, St. Anthony's is the parish church for the section of the city commonly referred to as "Little Rome".

In the early morning of January 7, 2023, in Washington, D.C., the United States, Jason Lewis shot and killed 13-year-old Karon Blake. Lewis, a Black 41-year-old father of four and longtime DC Parks and Recreation employee, had stepped onto his patio to investigate a possible home invasion at around 3AM when he saw Blake and two others breaking into parked vehicles along his street. In the seconds following a brief confrontation with the group, Lewis opened fire, fatally wounding Blake. After several weeks of investigation, Lewis was arrested and charged with murder in second degree while armed. He has entered a plea of not guilty and was held in home confinement while awaiting trial in August 2024. He was convicted of manslaughter that month.

The Slowe-Burrill House is a Queen Anne-style house in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Built in 1890, the home was occupied from 1922 to 1937 by Lucy Slowe and Mary Burrill, notable African American educators who are thought by historians to have been a couple. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020 for its significance to African American and LGBT history.

The Brookland Bowling Alleys is an Art Deco-style building in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, D.C., that housed a bowling alley from its construction in 1939 until 1950. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

Brooks Mansion is a Greek Revival plantation house and Category II Landmark. It is located at 901 Newton Street, Northeast, Washington, D.C., in the Brookland neighborhood, next to the Brookland–CUA (WMATA station).

The Charles Richard Drew Memorial Bridge, also known as the Michigan Avenue Bridge, carries Michigan Avenue over the CSX and Metrorail railroad tracks. The Brookland-CUA Metro Station is located below the bridge as well. It lies in the University Heights neighborhood in the northeastern part of Washington, D.C. The name of the bridge honors Dr. Charles R. Drew (1904-1950) who was a scientist, surgeon and athlete. A plaque is situated at the western end of the bridge.

Brookland–CUA is a Washington Metro station in Washington, D.C., on the Red Line. Service began on February 3, 1978. The station serves the Brookland neighborhood and the Catholic University of America. It is the focal point of an upcoming transit-oriented development project.

The American Poetry Museum (APM) is a museum dedicated to American poetry, located in Brookland, Washington, D.C., United States.The museum was founded in 2004. As well as a traditional museum role, APM also provides a community meeting place.

The Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America is a Franciscan complex at 14th and Quincy Streets in the Brookland neighborhood of Northeast Washington, D.C. Located on a hill called Mount Saint Sepulcher, and anchored by the Memorial Church of the Holy Sepulcher, it includes gardens, replicas of various shrines throughout Israel, a replica of the catacombs in Rome, an archive, a library, as well as bones of Saint Benignus of Armagh, brought from the Roman catacombs and originally in the cathedral of Narni, Italy.

Maloney Hall is the home of the Busch School of Business and Economics at the Catholic University of America. It is located in the southeast corner of Catholic University’s main campus, near the Brookland–CUA station. It has been described as "Harvard on the outside, Google on the inside" and "one of the premier academic buildings in Washington, D.C. if not the country."
