The Moose River is a mountain waterway in upstate New York which consists of three branches: the North Branch, the Middle Branch and the South Branch. The outlet of Big Moose Lake forms the North Branch in northern Herkimer County. The Middle Branch originates at the Fulton Chain Lakes in Old Forge. And the Southern Branch has its headwaters in Little Moose Lake in Hamilton County. The North and Middle branches merge in old Forge, New York, then flow a few miles before merging with the South branch, and then becomes just Moose River. It flows generally westwardly through Herkimer County into Lewis County, reaching its confluence with the Black River in Lyons Falls.

The district includes three contributing structures: the main house, carriage house and barn, and office building that served as headquarters for the Gould Paper Company. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Lyons Falls is a village in Lewis County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, Lyons Falls had a population of 570. The village is on the border of the towns of West Turin and Lyonsdale. It is at the junction of state Routes 12 and 12D, approximately 14 miles (23 km) south of Lowville, the county seat.

Forest Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at Lyons Falls in Lewis County, New York. It was built in 1894 and is a one-story, brown stained, eclectic, pitched roof building with a front-facing gable, a unique square bell tower with flared eaves, and a porte cochere. The church is in the Shingle Style with Gothic elements. Also on the property is the two story, American Foursquare manse, dated to 1902, and a 19th-century barn. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

"The Pines" is a historic home and related dependencies located at Lyons Falls in Lewis County, New York. The main house was built about 1860 and is a timber-frame, flat-roofed, vernacular Italianate style residence. It consists of a two-story, five-bay main block with 2 two-story wings. Also on the property are a maple sap boiling house / woodshed (c. 1930); carriage house / garage (c. 1880); main barn (c. 1890); woodshed (ca. 1890); and workshop / shed (c. 1910). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Port Leyden is a village in Lewis County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, Port Leyden had a population of 554. The name is derived from the village's early history as a port on the Black River Canal. The village of Port Leyden is mostly in the town of Leyden, but a portion of the village lies to the east of the Black River in the town of Lyonsdale. The village is 17 miles (27 km) south of Lowville, the county seat, 8 miles (13 km) north of Boonville, and 25 miles (40 km) by road west-southwest of Old Forge.

St. Mark's Church is a historic Episcopal church located at Port Leyden in Lewis County, New York. It is a frame board and batten sided, three by five bay structure built in 1865 in the Gothic Revival style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

Lyonsdale is a town in Lewis County, New York, United States. The population was 1,227 at the 2010 census. The town is named after its principal community and its founder Caleb Lyon. Lyonsdale is in the southeastern part of the county and is just north of Boonville.
