Mo Gridder's was a barbecue restaurant and auto repair shop in New York City. Both the repair shop and BBQ truck are owned by Fred Donnelly. They have received coverage by many magazines and television shows due to the quality of the food and the unusual nature of the business. Mo Gridder's featured on the Hunt's Point episode of Baron Ambrosia's Bronx Flavor and the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives Season 1, Episode 10.

Hunts Point is a neighborhood located on a peninsula in the South Bronx of New York City. It is the location of one of the largest food distribution facilities in the world, the Hunts Point Cooperative Market. Its boundaries are the Bruckner Expressway to the west and north, the Bronx River to the east, and the East River to the south. Hunts Point Avenue is the primary street through Hunts Point. The neighborhood is part of Bronx Community District 2, and its ZIP Code is 10474. The neighborhood is served by the New York City Police Department's 41st Precinct. NYCHA property in the area is patrolled by P.S.A. 7 at 737 Melrose Avenue located in the Melrose section of the Bronx.

Julio Carballo Fields is a park in the Hunt's Point section of The Bronx, New York City. Originally called Manida Park, it was renamed in 1997 to honor Julio Carballo (1950–1996), who ran a neighborhood youth baseball program in the 1970s and 1980s. The park was originally constructed in 1992 as a temporary field for baseball and softball games, and transferred to the New York City Department of Parks in 1993. At the time, it was one of only three parks in Hunt's Point.The park underwent a $1 million renovation starting in 2006. At that time, the ball fields were reconstructed, landscaping done and play equipment, a spray shower, and picnic area were installed. The renovation was completed in 2008 at an ultimate cost of $2 million, with the project marred by a contractor bribery scandal.

Corpus Christi Monastery, founded in 1891, is the oldest monastery in the United States of nuns of the Dominican Order. It is an offshoot of Notre-Dame-de-Prouille Monastery, the first monastery of nuns founded by Dominic de Guzman, founder and namesake of the Order, in France in 1206. Dominic saw these first women as partners in the "Holy Preaching" of the friars he soon founded, offering them support by their prayers and sacrifices.

The Fulton Fish Market is a fish market in Hunts Point, a section of the New York City borough of the Bronx, in New York, United States. It was originally a wing of the Fulton Market, established in 1822 to sell a variety of foodstuffs and produce. In November 2005, the Fish Market relocated to a new facility in Hunts Point in the Bronx, from its historic location near the Brooklyn Bridge along the East River waterfront at and above Fulton Street in the Financial District, Lower Manhattan. During much of its 183-year tenure at the original site, the Fulton Fish Market was the most important wholesale East Coast fish market in the United States. Opened in 1822, it was the destination of fishing boats from across the Atlantic Ocean. By the 1950s, most of the Market's fish were trucked in rather than offloaded from the docks. The wholesalers at the Market then sold it to restaurateurs and retailers who purchased fresh fish of every imaginable variety.Prices at the Fulton Fish Market were tracked and reported by the United States government. In its original location, it was one of the last, and most significant, of the great wholesale food markets of New York. It survived major fires in 1835, 1845, 1918, and 1995. In its new location in the Hunts Point Cooperative Market, it handles millions of pounds of seafood daily, with annual sales exceeding $1 billion, and is second in size only to Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market.

Hunts Point Hospital was a 100-bed Bronx hospital that closed, and was sold in 1945; the building was subsequently abandoned.They had served the local community for general medical/surgical and maternity needs.

The American Bank Note Company Printing Plant is a repurposed printing plant in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx in New York City. It was built in 1909 by the American Bank Note Company, contemporaneously with their corporate headquarters in Manhattan.: 1  In addition to printing paper documents, stamps, and currency, the plant also minted coins, and was thus known by local area residents as The Penny Factory.The main structure includes three interconnected buildings. The Lafayette wing, spanning the south side of the block, is the longest and tallest. It incorporates the main entrance, at the base of an imposing tower. The lower, but more massive, Garrison wing is perpendicular to that. These two were built first, and constitute the bulk of the complex. The Barretto wing is an addition on the west side of the Garrison wing. The small detached North Building is at the rear of the property.The buildings total 405,000 square feet (37,600 m2), occupying the 178,000 square foot (16,500 m2) block bordered by Garrison Avenue, Tiffany Street, Lafayette Avenue, and Barretto Street. The block is roughly pentagonal, with Barretto curving to form two sides.The plant was used by American Bank Note from 1911 until 1986. Production included bank notes, stamps, stock and bond certificates, checks, traveler's checks, letters of credit, lottery tickets, food stamps, and other financial documents. Although the plant printed money for countries around the world, it was best known for producing currencies for Latin America, including Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Haiti, and Cuba.Since 1986, the property has changed hands several times, undergone a series of renovations, and been designated a New York City landmark. As of April 2020, it has been subdivided and rented to multiple tenants.

Sunnyslope is a historic home located in Hunts Point in the South Bronx in New York City. It was built about 1860 by Peter Hoe, brother of Richard March Hoe, on their family estate. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Gothic Revival–style house built in the Picturesque mode. In 1919 it was sold to Temple Beth Elohim and later became home to an African Methodist Episcopal congregation.It was listed as a New York City Landmark in 1981, and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It later became home to Bright Temple A.M.E. Church.

The Vernon C. Bain Correctional Center (VCBC), also known as the Vernon C. Bain Maritime Facility and under the nickname "The Boat", is an 800-bed jail barge used to hold inmates for the New York City Department of Corrections. The barge is anchored off the Bronx's southern shore, across from Rikers Island, near Hunts Point. It was built for $161 million at Avondale Shipyard in Louisiana, along the Mississippi River near New Orleans, and brought to New York in 1992 to reduce overcrowding in the island's land-bound buildings for a lower price. Nicknamed "The Boat" by prison staff and inmates, it is designed to handle inmates from medium- to maximum-security in 16 dormitories and 100 cells. Currently the only barge in use, the Vernon C. Bain Center is the third prison barge that the New York Department of Corrections has used. In its history, the prison has served traditional inmates, juvenile inmates and is currently used as a holding and temporary processing center. The added security of the prison being on water has prevented at least four attempted escapes. The barge is named in memorial for warden Vernon C. Bain, who died in an automobile accident. In 2014, the prison barge was named the world's largest prison barge in operation by Guinness World Records.

The Oak Point Yard is a freight railroad yard located in the South Bronx, New York City. The yard is owned by CSX Transportation, and is a base for CSX's local deliveries in the area, including to the Hunts Point Cooperative Market and for trains that interchange freight with the New York and Atlantic Railway at Fresh Pond Junction in Queens. CP Rail formerly handled some freight in and out of Oak Point, but during late 2010 entered a haulage-rights agreement with CSX under which CSX handles and forwards its local traffic between Oak Point and the Albany, New York area. Stone-hauling trains belonging to the Providence & Worcester Railroad operate through Oak Point during trips between New Haven, Connecticut and the NY&A at Fresh Pond, but no P&W freight is actually handled in the yard. Amtrak owns and operates two electrified tracks for the Northeast Corridor Line, on the northwest side of the yard. CSX uses the Oak Point Link, a connecting track along the Harlem River, to travel between the yard and the Metro-North Hudson Line, which is its primary access route into New York, while the P&W stone trains enter via the Northeast Corridor line to the northeast. CSX and P&W trains to Fresh Pond cross the Hell Gate Bridge onto Long Island. In 2009, CSX announced that four ultra-low emission GenSet locomotives will operate full-time at its Oak Point Yard where they will be used to switch cars within the yard and for road switching service. The GenSet locomotives, manufactured by National Railway Equipment Company, reduce nitrous oxide and particulate matter emissions by 80 percent and can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 50 percent by monitoring engine idling and switching to "sleep" mode after a period of inactivity.Oak Point Yard was formerly a Conrail facility, inherited from Penn Central, which in turn acquired the yard and associated lines in 1969 when it consummated a regulatory-induced, forced merger with the New Haven Railroad. In its New Haven days, Oak Point Yard covered a much larger area and was also a transfer point for railroad car floats that delivered railcars to waterfront terminals throughout New York Harbor.

The South Bronx Greenway is a project to improve waterfront access, recreational facilities, and transportation systems, including pedestrian and bicycle paths, in the South Bronx in New York City.

North and South Brother Islands are a pair of small islands located in New York City's East River between the mainland Bronx and Rikers Island. North Brother Island was once the site of the Riverside Hospital for quarantinable diseases but is now uninhabited. The islands had long been privately owned, but were purchased by the federal government in 2007 with some funding from The Trust for Public Land and others; both were given to the City. They were then designated as sanctuaries for water birds.According to the New York City Parks Department, which oversees the islands, North Brother Island has about 20 acres (8 hectares) of land, and South Brother Island about 6 acres (2.4 ha).Public access is prohibited but permission is occasionally given to researchers and journalists; a NYC Parks staff member escorts all such visitors.
