University Hills is a neighborhood on the East Side of Los Angeles, California. It consists of the residential areas surrounding California State University, Los Angeles .

Eagle's Nest Arena is an indoor arena located on the California State University, Los Angeles campus. It plays host to the basketball and volleyball teams for the Golden Eagles, is 94 feet (29 m) long by 80 feet (24 m) wide, and can handle two basketball and three volleyball courts. Seating 3,200 at full capacity, it hosted the judo competitions for the 1984 Summer Olympics. It also hosted the inaugural JBA playoffs for the rounds up to the championship in 2018.

Cal State LA Studios is the production area of the Department of Television, Film, and Media Studies at California State University, Los Angeles, the only CSU campus in the Los Angeles basin. Bachelor of Arts degrees are offered in Telecommunications and Film, Broadcast Journalism and Animation. Master of Arts degree programs include Screenwriting and Critical Studies as well as a three option Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program in Dramatic Writing, Production/Direction, and Performance in Television, Film, & Theatre Arts. Production facilities and equipment include: 3-camera digital television studios, dedicated news studio, nonlinear postproduction workstations, postproduction labs and individual editing suites, 16 mm motion picture camera kits, DV and HDV camera kits, field lighting kits, and misc. grip equipment. In 2014, the department open the Television, Film and Media Studies Center with a new sound stage and audio post-production facilities.

Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA, ) is a visual and performing arts high school located on the campus of California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Alliance Marc and Eva Stern Math and Science School, also known as The Stern Math and Science School or Stern MASS, is a charter high school in the University Hills neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles. It is a collaboration between the Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools and California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State L.A). The charter was granted by the Los Angeles Unified School District in 2006.

Cal State LA station (officially Cal State Los Angeles station) is a commuter train and bus station located on the El Monte Busway. The station is located between Interstate 10 and its namesake, the campus of California State University, Los Angeles. It is located in the El Sereno neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles and Eastside region, in southern California. The busway portion of the station opened on February 18, 1975 and the Metrolink platform was added on October 26, 1994.Just west of this station, the westbound busway lanes cross over the eastbound lanes, reversing the normal placement of the lanes. They remain reversed until the western terminus of the El Monte Busway at Union Station. The reversed lanes allow buses to serve by a single island platform station at the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center but prevent vehicles from entering the busway from the general-purpose lanes of Interstate 10 in the eastbound direction.Just east of this station, the busway and train tracks move off the separate right of way and move into the median of Interstate 10.

Edmund D. Edelman Children's Court is a Los Angeles County Superior Court in Monterey Park, California, United States. This court handles all of the juvenile dependency cases in Los Angeles County. The court is named after former member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Edmund D. Edelman. Social workers from the Department of Children and Family Services (Los Angeles County) investigate child welfare concerns in the county. The building houses attorneys from Los Angeles County Counsel, Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, and Children's Law Center. In 2012, the media gained unprecedented access to the court. At that time, about 25,000 cases annually went before the combined 21 judges, commissioners and referees who oversee the cases.

The Sybil Brand Institute is a disused women's jail in Monterey Park, Los Angeles County, California. It is named for 20th century jail conditions activist Sybil Brand. The jail was completed in 1963 and at one time had over 2,000 inmates. It was closed in 1997 because of its poor physical condition as a result of damage suffered during the 1994 Northridge earthquake.The jail was referenced in the legal drama TV series Perry Mason in the 1965 episode "The Case of the Laughing Lady". Hedy Lamarr was briefly jailed at the Sybil Brand Institute after being arrested for shoplifting in January 1966.The jail is referenced in Kate Braverman's 1993 fiction novel Wonders of the West starting on the very first page of the text. Since 1997, the former jail location has been used in movies and television shows such as 24, Reno 911!: Miami, CSI, Legally Blonde, Torchwood: Miracle Day Desperate Housewives, Jackie Brown, and S.W.A.T..

On the morning of February 3, 2003, American actress Lana Clarkson was found dead inside the Pyrenees Castle, the Alhambra, California, mansion of record producer Phil Spector. In the early hours of that morning, Clarkson had met Spector while working at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Spector was tried for the murder of Clarkson in 2007. On September 26 of that year, a mistrial was declared due to a hung jury, with ten jurors of twelve favoring conviction. He was tried again for second-degree murder beginning on October 20, 2008. On April 13, 2009, the jury found Spector guilty of murdering Clarkson. On May 29, 2009, he was sentenced to nineteen years to life in state prison. Spector died in a prison hospital in January 2021.

El Sereno (Spanish for "The Serene") is a Los Angeles neighborhood in the Eastside Los Angeles region of Los Angeles County, California.

Woodrow Wilson High School is a Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) high school in the Northeast region of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is located in the community of El Sereno, atop the Ascot Hills at 4500 Multnomah Street.The school serves the El Sereno and University Hills communities, and areas of City Terrace and Ramona Gardens. Wilson High, with an enrollment of approximately 1,500 students, is under the direct supervision of LAUSD Local District East, Board District 2.The school colors are Navy blue, Vegas gold and White. The school's mascot is the "Mighty Mule", a mule also nicknamed "Seymour".

KMPC (1540 AM, "Radio Korea", 라디오코리아) is a commercial radio station in Los Angeles, California. It is owned by P&Y Broadcasting Corporation. Radio Korea is a division of the Radio Korea Media Group. The station airs Korean–language programming, a blend of talk, news, information, and music for the largest Korean–American community in the United States, and the largest Korean community outside Korea. KMPC is one of four radio stations in the greater Los Angeles area that broadcast entirely in Korean. The others are 1190 KGBN Anaheim, 1230 KYPA Los Angeles and 1650 KFOX Torrance. KMPC broadcasts at 50,000 watts by day, the highest power permitted for commercial AM stations. At night, to reduce interference to other stations on AM 1540, KMPC drops its power to 37,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna at all times. The transmitter is off Carter Drive in the El Sereno district of Los Angeles.
