Inniscarra Lake

Lough Inniscarra is a lake in County Cork, Ireland located to the west of Cork. It is a reservoir on the River Lee, created in the 1956 by the ESB.

It rises near the Boggeragh Mountains and flows through several villages, including the eponymous Dripsey (Irish: An Druipseach, meaning 'the muddy river'), before joining the River Lee near the Inniscarra Reservoir.

Inniscarra Dam is a buttress dam located on the River Lee in the civil parish of Inniscarra in County Cork, Ireland. Construction of the dam started in February 1953 and resulted in the formation of the Inniscarra Reservoir. The dam is owned and operated by the ESB Group and has a generation capacity of 19 MW. It over-flooded in November 2009 and caused around 100 million euros worth of damage to the city, with University College Cork saying it damaged 20 million euros worth of property.

Éire Óg is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in Ovens, County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with Cork GAA county board and the Muskerry divisional board.

Ovens (Irish: Na hUamhanna) is a small village and Roman Catholic parish adjacent to the town of Ballincollig, County Cork, Ireland. The 2006 census recorded that the population of the village was 1,703 - an increase of 62.1% from the 2002 Census. Ovens is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency.

Farran (Irish: An Fearann) is a village in County Cork, Ireland, in the parish of Ovens. It lies on the southside of the River Lee. Farran is 12 miles (19 km) west from Cork City on the N22 road. The village has a primary school, creche and Montessori school, a church, community hall, and a number of small businesses. Kilcrea Friary and Kilcrea Castle are historical sites in the area. As of the 2016 census, Farran was home to 345 people.

Kilcrea Castle is a ruined 15th-century towerhouse and bawn located near the Kilcrea Friary, west of Cork City, Ireland. The tower house and friary were both built by Cormac Laidir MacCarthy, 9th Lord of Muskerry.

Cloghroe (Irish: Cloch Reo) is a village and townland on the main Cork to Banteer road in County Cork, Ireland. It lies 7 miles (11.3 km) northwest of Cork, close to Inniscarra and Tower. The Sheep River runs to the rear of the local pub Blairs Inn on the western side. The Wayside Inn is at the eastern end of the village. The origin of the name Cloghroe is from the Irish "Cloc Rua" meaning "red stone", which is common in the natural geography of the land. Cloghroe House is situated en route to the Inniscarra Community Centre. It was built in the middle of the 18th century and became the home of Elizabeth, second daughter of Joseph Capel, (by Elizabeth M'Cartie, only daughter of Dennis M'Cartie of Castle Ballea, before she married Col Sir Thomas Judkin-FitzGerald 1st Bt of Lisheen & infamous "flogging FitzGerald" 1798 High Sheriff of Tipperary) descended inherited residence of Sir Joseph Capel Judkin-Fitzgerald 4th Bt of Lisheen who died in 1917. Cloghroe village is a linear settlement consisting of one row of houses on each side of the road.

Matehy (Irish: Maigh Teichigh) is a civil parish in the historical barony of Muskerry East in County Cork, Ireland. The civil parish is centred on a small settlement, also referred to as Matehy, which contains a Roman Catholic church (built c. 1820), a national (primary) school, and pub. Evidence of ancient settlement in the area include ringfort sites in Gilcagh townland, and a circular ecclesiastical enclosure containing the remains of a church (dating to at least the early 17th century) and a number of 18th century gravestones.
