Río Negro (Spanish for "black river") is a river in the Chaco Province in Argentina. It crosses the Chaco National Park and flows southeast. Near its mouth it flows by the cities of Puerto Tirol, Resistencia, and Barranqueras, where it finally reaches Barranqueras River, an arm of the Paraná River.The river has changed its course over the flatlands several times over the years, leaving wetlands, meanders and lagoons. This took place because of three different factors; frequent droughts, accumulation of sediment, and human-made deviations of the riverbed. Sections of the river are currently contaminated by industrial waste, mainly from the leather tanning industry. The Río Negro is of historical importance to Resistencia, capital of Chaco Province, since most immigrants that populated Chaco reached the city in boats travelling up-river. On February 2 every year, the Festival of the Canoes and Boats is celebrated, commemorating the day of the arrival of the first steamboat that brought Friulian pioneers to the province.

San Fernando is a department of Chaco Province in Argentina. The provincial subdivision has a population of about 365,000 inhabitants in an area of 3,489 km², and its capital city is Resistencia, which is also the provincial capital. It located around 1,020 km from the Capital federal.

Resistencia (pronounced [resisˈtensja] ) is the capital and largest city of the province of Chaco in north-eastern Argentina. According to the 2010 census, the population of the city proper was 291,720 inhabitants. It is the anchor of a larger metropolitan area, Greater Resistencia, which comprises at least three more municipalities for a total population of 387,340 as of 2010. This conurbation is the largest in the province, and the eleventh most populous in the country. It is located along the Negro River, a tributary of the much larger Paraná River, opposite the city of Corrientes, Corrientes Province. The area was originally inhabited by Guaycuru aboriginals such as the Tobas. Their resistance to evangelisation postponed substantial European settlement until the late 19th century. Not until 1865 was a proper settlement established, and on January 27, 1878, Resistencia was formally established as the territorial capital. The national government supported immigration, and in 1878 the first Italian immigrants arrived. The first City Council was made up entirely of members originating from that country.

Chaco (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtʃako]; Wichi: To-kós-wet), officially the Province of Chaco (Spanish: provincia del Chaco [pɾoˈβinsja ðel ˈtʃako]), is one of the 23 provinces in Argentina. Its capital and largest city, is Resistencia. It is located in the north-east of the country. It is bordered by Salta and Santiago del Estero to the west, Formosa to the north, Corrientes to the east, and Santa Fe to the south. It also has an international border with the Paraguayan Department of Ñeembucú. With an area of 99,633 km2 (38,469 sq mi), and a population of 1,142,963 as of 2022, it is the twelfth most extensive, and the eleventh most populated, of the twenty-three Argentine provinces. In 2010, Chaco became the second province in Argentina to adopt more than one official language. These languages are the Kom, Moqoit and Wichí languages, spoken by the Toba, Mocovi and Wichí peoples respectively. Chaco has historically been among Argentina's poorest regions, and currently ranks last both by per capita GDP and on the Human Development Index.

Neuquén – Plottier – Cipolletti is an Agglomeration in Argentina that joins the cities of Neuquén, Cipolletti and Plottier, on the provinces of Neuquén and Río Negro. the settlement is on the Confluence between the rivers Limay and Neuquén, forming the río Negro (black river), this zone is known as Comahue and is the most important settlement of population in Patagonia.

The St. Ferdinand the King Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral de San Fernando Rey de Resistencia), also called Resistencia Cathedral is the name given to a Catholic church located in the city of Resistencia, Argentina. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Resistencia. It is at the head of an ecclesiastical province which covers the provinces of Chaco and Formosa. It was built in the 1930s. On July 3, 1939, Pope Pius XII divided the diocese of Santa Fe to create the diocese of Resistance. On April 1, 1984, Pope John Paul II elevated her to the rank of archdiocese. On May 5, 1999, the Executive Branch of the Province of Chaco, declared "cultural heritage of the province," the building of the Cathedral of Resistance. In late 2008 they began deep, both internal and external renovations that have a completion date for Easter Sunday 2009.

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Resistencia (Latin: Archidioecesis Resistenciae) is in Argentina and is a metropolitan diocese. Its suffragan sees include Formosa and San Roque de Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña.

Barrio San Pedro Pescador is a village and municipality in Chaco Province in northern Argentina, located on the thin coastal levee of the Paraná River. The town is located in the Primero de Mayo Department and reports administratively to the Colonia Benitez municipality. It occupies the left side of the Chaco end of the General Manuel Belgrano Bridge, which links the province of Chaco with the city of Corrientes. The low-lying and floodable characteristics of the right bank of the Parana River are not conducive for human settlement, San Pedro Pescador being Chaco's only urban settlement located on the main channel of this river. Paradoxically the Parana River is the main source of livelihood (fishing) and its main threat, because of the periodic floods that force temporary abandonment by its inhabitants. Its inhabitants maintain educational, work or business links with both Gran Resistencia as well as Gran Corrientes. It was declared a Patrimonio Histórico, Cultural y Natural (Historical, Cultural and Natural Heritage) because of its riverfront location, traditional fishing as the main breadwinner of its inhabitants and for being the head of the construction of the interprovincial bridge.

The General Manuel Belgrano Bridge (Spanish: Puente General Manuel Belgrano) is a road bridge that joins the Argentine cities of Corrientes (capital of the Corrientes Province in the Mesopotamia) and Resistencia (capital of Chaco in the Chaco Region) over the course of the Paraná River (near the confluence with the Paraguay River). It was opened on May 10, 1973. The bridge joins Corrientes' Provincial Route 12 with Chaco's Provincial Routes 11 and 16. The main part of the bridge measures 1,700 meters (5,600 ft) in length and stands at 35 meters (115 ft) over the river, with cable-stayed section with spans 163.5 m (536 ft) + 245 m (804 ft) + 163.5 m (536 ft). It has two A-shaped main towers that are 83 meters (272 ft) high. The road is 8.3 meters (27 ft) wide and has two lanes, plus two lateral pedestrian ways, each 1.8 meters (5.9 ft) wide. In 1999 the province of Corrientes was in the midst of a popular uprising, with protestors asking for the resignation of the provincial government. On 1999-12-17 the traffic over the bridge was blocked by demonstrators. The Gendarmerie intervened to suppress the protest, and killed two people. As of 2006 the investigations about the responsibility for these killings are still in progress.

The River Plate Basin University (in Spanish: Universidad de la Cuenca del Plata - UCP) is a non-profit private university founded in 1991. Located in the province of Corrientes, Argentina, it has an undergraduate enrollment of 1,100 students and a graduate enrollment of 600. The university is focused primarily on social sciences and engineering. The undergraduates majors available are accountancy, business administration, law, humanities.
